Immortal of the Nine Realms

”First Emperor of the Black Sun Empire, tell us, should we start debating our origins and backgrounds?”

Shao Mengyuan looked at the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire, his eyes devoid of even a shred of respect for his ancestor.

Everyone knew that Shao Mengyuan was a reincarnated member of the Demon Race and one of the masterminds behind the demons’ sweep across the Taicang Realm. Although a bit of the first emperor’s bloodline flowed in his veins, in truth, it would also be correct to say that there was absolutely no relationship between the two.

Shao Mengyuan coming forward to question the first emperor also represented the Demon Race’s unwavering stance of standing on the Nine Realms’ side.

”Hurry up and tell Old Shao. Let’s see just how noble your background is.” Chen Feifei laughed with gloating delight.

The other factions’ ninth-transformation immortals also smiled faintly one after another.

Fang Chen’s mind stirred slightly. It’s almost settled. On the stance of the Nine Realms, humans and demons are identical. Today’s battle will not turn into a chaotic free-for-all. Everyone will join forces to target the demonic beasts. It all depends on whether the old man and the others can stop Lu Fengshen, True Immortal He, and... Motian Dizang.

The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire stared quietly at Shao Mengyuan. He then sneered. ”You demons are currently like parasites. You’re not seriously planning to talk to me about your origins, are you? Lest you forget how awkward your situation was back then.”

”No matter how awkward, our origins are still more noble than yours.” Shao Mengyuan’s gaze swept across the group of ninth-transformation humans present. ”I have exchanged blows with these ninth transformations for many years. Although we have always been fighting for victory, over time, we have also become well-acquainted.

”They at least stand on the side of humanity, unlike you, who was clearly born human yet wants to sell out the Human Race’s very foundation. To seek that illusory and ethereal future, do you truly believe that a tiny Yin Demon like you has a chance of being ranked among the Soul Race?”

The first emperor calmly replied, ”Whether there is a chance is not for you to decide. Let the facts do the talking. Today, none of you even think about touching this Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower.”

Shao Mengyuan smiled. ”It seems the Dragon God was right. Neither you nor the demonic beasts of the God Dao Sect are actually willing to let Motian Dizang obtain the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower. You fear that if he unifies the Underworld and uses it to reach the position of the Heavenly Dao, the outsiders will never be able to interfere in the affairs of the Nine Realms again. That would be equivalent to blocking your path of advancement, right?”

The first emperor of the Black Sun Empire snorted coldly. Though he did not reply, it was a clear, tacit admission.

”That makes things simple. Shao Guangyin, what are you all still hiding for?” Shao Mengyuan smiled faintly. ”All of you, come out.”

Shao Guangyin?

The expressions of the Enlightenment God Palace’s core disciples shifted. They were all too familiar with this person.

Shao Guangyin led a group of the Rulai Monastery’s core disciples out of the shadows. With a respectful expression, he bowed to Shao Mengyuan. ”I, Shao Guangyin, pay you my respects, Young Commander.”

Young Commander? Is that a rank within the Demon Race?

A trace of curiosity appeared in everyone’s eyes, but thinking about it, Shao Mengyuan naturally had a high status among the Demon Race, considering he achieved the ninth transformation immortal stage in this lifetime.

Fang Chen’s thoughts, however, were different from the others. He suspected that Shao Guangyin’s title for Shao Mengyuan might not originate from the Demon Race period, but rather the God Race period. It was very obvious that these guys were constantly utilizing reincarnation through the underworld to extend their lifespans. Shao Guangyin was a human in this life and a demon in his previous life. Perhaps, in his life before that, he had been a powerful being who had come from the God Race period.

Shao Mengyuan nodded gently, not paying much heed to Shao Guangyin. Instead, he cast his gaze onto the monk with the somewhat treacherous and evil countenance. Shao Guangyin respectfully stepped aside, though no one noticed the faint trace of unwillingness that flashed across the deep recesses of his eyes.

Shao Mengyuan asked calmly, ”What is your name?”

The treacherous monk chuckled repeatedly as he replied, ”Young Commander, I am Lin Qiao, a humble, lowly soldier under the command of the Fallen Immortal Race’s Emperor Huang Tian.”

The Fallen Immortal Race?!

There was an obvious surge of ripples within the eyes of the Black Sun Empire’s first emperor.

The Ghost Immortals of the other factions also looked shocked. A trace of anger even found its way into their eyes as they gazed at Shao Mengyuan.

In a low tone, one of the Enlightenment God Palace’s core disciples rebuked, ”Is the Demon Race mad? Did the Fallen Immortal Race not bite them hard enough in the past to stop them from daring to cooperate with the Fallen Immortal Race?”

Someone secretly felt relieved in their heart. If the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire hadn’t popped out, and the Demon Race joined forces with the Fallen Immortal Race this time, and if you added the demonic beasts of the God Dao Gate, the human Ghost Immortals present today would probably all have been wiped out completely.

Fortunately, the Dragon God had manifested and directly pointed out the purpose of the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire, only then allowing the situation to improve.

Chen Feifei could not help but say, ”Old Shao, have you lost your mind? Can you believe the words of a Fallen Immortal?”

Shao Mengyuan smiled faintly. ”We naturally cannot fully trust them, but on an occasion like this, with our race joining forces with humans and Fallen Immortals, dealing with the demonic beasts will not be all that difficult. As long as we can benefit from it, what harm is there in believing them one more time? Do they not share glory and loss with the Nine Realms?”

”Hehehe...”

Lin Qiao cupped his fist and laughed. ”You’re right. Although our race’s thoughts are a bit unconventional, we are not fools either. How could we not know who poses the greatest threat? What were the Fallen Immortals originally? Were we not humans? So we’re all on the same side. Let us work together with united hearts to oppose the detestable demonic beasts and that human traitor, the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire!”

Not a single Ghost Immortal present would believe Lin Qiao’s ghostly words. If his kind could be trusted, sows could fly to the moon. But the situation at hand was obviously as Shao Mengyuan had stated. If the Fallen Immortals joined in, the demonic beasts would certainly no longer have much chance of winning.

”Whether it is you demons or the Fallen Immortals, have none of you considered why everyone has gathered here today?” the first emperor of the Black Sun Empire suddenly remarked. He pointed at the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower in the sky. ”This thing is the key. Have you all discussed properly whether this item should be given to the demons or the humans?”

That was right. Joining forces was nice and all, but who should control the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower afterward? That was the core, critical question.

With a laugh, Chen Feifei scolded, ”Do not sow discord. That item is naturally to be given to Monarch Yan. What utter nonsense are you spouting?”

The first emperor stared deeply at Chen Feifei. ”I will surely slay you.”

”Come and slay me right now, if you can. Why haven’t you dared to yet? Is it because your heart has also begun to worry about whether those three Half-Step Heavenly Dao figures can arrive in time? Actually, you don’t need to worry anymore. Motian Dizang knew about your plans from the very beginning. At most, you have two Half-Step Heavenly Dao beings on your side.” Chen Feifei laughed.

The expression of the first emperor darkened slightly. He was not certain if what this person said was true or false, but even if it were true, it would not hinder the situation. It was merely the difference between knowing early and knowing late.

Shao Mengyuan’s gaze shifted back and forth between the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower and Fang Chen. ”Is that item... truly to be given to the contemporary Monarch Yan?”

Chen Feifei froze slightly and frowned. ”You can’t even see through such a simple attempt to sow discord?”

Shao Mengyuan replied, ”Chen Feifei, of course I can see through it, but I need to consider it.”

Chen Feifei?

The Enlightenment God Palace’s core disciples looked at one another in dismay.

Is that really our Palace Master’s true name?

”What is there left to consider? Wasn’t it stated in the Taicang Realm Agreement? In the future, the Nine Realms will allocate three domains to you, and when encountering major events, you must stand on our side.” Chen Feifei frowned. ”Were all of those discussions in vain? Or do you not acknowledge them, Grand Commander? Your God-Slaying Army cannot be this shameless.”
