Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 1571: You’re Cheating Behind Her Back

Seeing the looks of astonishment on the faces of Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong, one of the two eighth-transformation Ghost Immortals couldn’t help but chuckle. ”Don’t bother looking. He can’t see you, and he can’t see the two of us either. Only when the Enlightenment Underworld is invaded will the Old Ghost Immortal awaken.”

He can’t see us?

Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong felt a wave of relief wash over them. Fang Chen recalled certain things Xie A’man had once said regarding Ghost Immortals.

Could it be that if a Ghost Immortal lives long enough, they turn into something like this? Is this why Eldest Senior Sister refuses to take the Ghost Immortal path and is so repulsed by it...? However, this path is indeed strange. Even as Monarch Yan, I am unable to sense his existence. The karma on his body... seems a bit different.

At this thought, Fang Chen suddenly walked toward the Old Ghost Immortal. Wang Chongsong did not stop him, nor did the other two eighth-transformation Ghost Immortals.

In the past, core disciples of the Enlightenment God Palace had also been quite intrigued by the Old Ghost Immortal’s existence, but over time, they usually lost interest.

Fang Chen scrutinized the Old Ghost Immortal closely. The man’s body was thick with the aura of karma. This represented his cultivation level, yet it differed from normal karma. The karma found in the ordinary Underworld was relatively pure. Conversely, the karma found on mortals and cultivators was quite mixed.

When cultivating in the Underworld, mixed karma could easily lead to a loss of sanity, much like those Great Yin Demons who have lost their minds. They dominantly and bluntly plunder karma from other wandering souls. While their cultivation increased, they also shoulder the weight of the karma belonging to those souls. Eventually, when that weight became too heavy, they were crushed under it.

People like Empress Ci, on the other hand, had previously obtained Yin Lifespan through transactions, a longevity actively condensed by the original bearer. During that process, it transformed into highly pure karma. By using this method, one didn’t have to worry about being crushed by it one day.

As for the True God of the Underworld, they absorbed relatively pure karma directly from the Underworld itself, so they also lacked that concern.

However, the karma on this Old Ghost Immortal was different from all of those.

”It seems to be... a complete blank?”

Fang Chen frowned. It was impossibly pure. Even a True Underworld God couldn’t possess karma that pure. It was as if that karma didn’t actually belong to the Old Ghost Immortal, and as if he, in turn, possessed no karma of his own.

One of the eighth-transformation Ghost Immortals walked over and asked with a faint smile, ”Little brother, see anything interesting?”

”I just feel that Senior’s aura is remarkably pure,” replied Fang Chen.

The eighth transformation Ghost Immortal let out a soft sigh. ”Indeed... It is too pure. So pure that he has likely lost his sense of self.”

Fang Chen’s heart stirred. ”Lost his sense of self?”

The eighth-transformation Ghost Immortal chuckled. ”This is the ultimate end for a Ghost Immortal. However, it is essentially equivalent to gaining a brief period of longevity; there is nothing bad about it. You should have been taught the Ghost Immortal Path as well, right? Perhaps when you reach our level, the one sitting here will be me.”

He then returned to his seat and resumed chatting with his companion.

Fang Chen walked back to Wang Chongsong’s side and was lost in thought. Wang Chongsong glanced at him but said nothing.

Half a month later.

All the wandering souls from that batch had been sent into reincarnation, and it would be some time before the next batch arrived.

”Gentlemen, we shall take our leave now,” said Wang Chongsong cheerfully, cupping his hands in a parting gesture before leading Fang Chen away.

They returned to the office of the Reincarnation Division.

Wang Chongsong said flatly, ”What are your plans now?”

”I’ll cultivate in seclusion at Renzu Mountain for a while. My second transformation cultivation is nearing completion; I’ll start preparing for the advancement to the third transformation,” replied Fang Chen.

”Mhm. You truly should focus all your energy on your cultivation.” Wang Chongsong nodded. ”Once some time has passed, I expect the commotions in the Lower Six Realms to reach the Upper Three Realms. When you return to the Mortal Realm, ask around and see if the Enlightenment God Palace is aware of it.”

Fang Chen nodded. ”Understood.”

Whether it was the Spirit God Sect, the Killing Spiritual Department, or the Immortal Worshipping Palace, these entities operated in the Upper Three Realms while maintaining extensive power networks in the Lower Six Realms. Their presence ensured that news would eventually leak into the Upper Three Realms. It was just a matter of whether the top-tier powers would pay any attention.

If the Enlightenment God Palace took an interest in the matter, perhaps he could use their hand to deliver a ”gift” to that side.

Leaving the Enlightenment Underworld, Fang Chen took out the Yang Gourd and released Jiang Tianai. Having spent quite some time inside the gourd, she looked slightly dazed upon her release, but she quickly regained her bearings.

”Where are we?” she asked.

”Enlightenment Star. I’m taking you out for a walk,” said Fang Chen with a smile.

Jiang Tianai followed closely behind Fang Chen as they left his place of secluded cultivation.

”Such dense spiritual energy!”

The moment she stepped outside, Jiang Tianai was startled by the richness of the spiritual energy. It felt as though her cultivation was faintly increasing with every breath she took. It had to be noted that she wasn’t a mere Lower Four Realms or Middle Three Realms cultivator. She was at the Dao Union Realm, one of the three Upper Realms. For a cultivator of her level, even a tiny increase in power usually required a long period of bitter cultivation. Yet, here, increasing cultivation seemed extraordinarily simple.

”Is this... the Immortal Realm?” Jiang Tianai asked in shock.

In her mind, only the Immortal Realm could possess such dense energy.

”This is not the Immortal Realm. This is the Enlightenment Star of the Fangcun Realm within the Upper Three Realms. It is also the place of the Enlightenment God Palace. I am currently a core disciple here and have the authority to promote external cultivators. I happen to be heading back to the Palace. I’ll take you along to get you registered.”

Having said that, Fang Chen summoned the Black Dragon and flew toward the palace with Jiang Tianai.

”Isn’t that the Captain?”

”And there’s a woman with him. Who is she?”

Meng Qingling and several others happened to be passing by. Catching a glimpse of the scene atop the Black Dragon Boat from a distance, their faces immediately filled with surprise.

On the way to the God Palace, through Fang Chen’s explanations, Jiang Tianai finally gained a sufficient understanding of this place. The more she learned, the more shocked she became.

Because she had never encountered that kind of information before, hearing that cultivators of the Upper Three Realms were busy exploring Qingming felt like listening to a fairy tale.

”I never imagined the Mortal Realm was so vast, let alone that the cultivators here were already exploring worlds beyond the heavens. Meanwhile, the cultivators of Fenghai Star are still stuck at the level of fighting over spiritual mountains and springs...” murmured Jiang Tianai softly.

”Fenghai Star has very few individuals in the Immortal Realm. They simply lack the conditions required to explore the outside world. However, the Upper Three Realms are very advanced in this regard. In the future, you will have the opportunity to explore the Blue Azure as well. You might even participate in battles over Ancient Forbidden Zones. If you can reap benefits from those, becoming an Immortal will be right within your reach,” Fang Chen said with a smile.

A restless excitement rose in Jiang Tianai’s heart. She couldn’t wait to experience this kind of life.

At that moment, the Black Dragon Boat entered the grounds of the Enlightenment God Palace. Before they could even land, another Black Dragon Boat pulled up alongside them.

At that moment, a sudden voice echoed.

”Old Nine, I’m going to tell Hong Zhi that you’re playing around behind her back! No wonder you’ve barely shown your face lately.”

Chen Enxue stood on her Black Dragon Boat with her hands on her hips, looking at Fang Chen with a half-smile and a face full of smug satisfaction.
