Immortal of the Nine Realms

Fang Chen suddenly noticed that ever since Fang Zhentian appeared, the Ghost Mother of Self Transformation had been repeatedly glancing in his direction.

“Senior, do you know my grandfather?” Fang Chen suddenly asked.

“Hm?”

Xun Xiyin lifted the corner of her eye slightly, looking at the Ghost Mother of Self Transformation, then at Fang Zhentian.

“It seems I’ve seen him before... yet it also feels like I can’t quite remember,” the Ghost Mother of Self Transformation murmured softly.

“If you can’t remember, then you haven’t seen me. I don’t remember you either,” said Fang Zhentian, waving his hand dismissively as he pulled Fang Chen aside.

Both grandfather and grandson whispered to each other for quite some time before Fang Zhentian finally bade Xun Xiyin farewell. Then, before Jiang Tianai’s shocked eyes, he struck out with a single palm and killed Xun Xiyin on the spot.

“Don’t be afraid. Her soul is still intact. It’ll be sent into reincarnation. That will resolve the danger of demonic corruption, and she’ll be able to recover her memories in the future,” Fang Chen transmitted.

Only then did Jiang Tianai let out a sigh of relief. If anyone else had said this, she would never have believed it, but since it came from Fang Chen, she trusted it unconditionally.

Fang Chen stored Xun Xiyin’s soul in the Yin Gourd and was just about to ask the old man about the plans of the Yang Gods when he realized the man was already gone.

The Ghost Mother of Self Transformation suddenly lifted her head and looked at Fang Chen with realization. “I remember now!”

“Senior, what did you remember?”

“That person just now, was he your grandfather?”

Fang Chen nodded. “Yes.”

“Oh... no wonder you were able to become Monarch Yan,” Ghost Mother of Self Transformation murmured softly.

“You don’t know this yet, do you? Your grandfather was once a ninth transformation Sword Immortal.” The Ghost Mother of Self Transformation looked at Fang Chen, her expression complex. “I remember once, the underworld suddenly gained more than a hundred thousand Immortal souls. He was the one who sent them.”

“So Grandpa really is a figure from the same era as you, Senior.” Fang Chen sighed quietly.

A ninth transformation Sword Immortal, he had already suspected as much, so he wasn’t too shocked.

“The same era? You’re mistaken. I’m his junior. His era was even earlier, so early that no one today could possibly speculate about it. I heard from some old friends that in one age, he even ruled as emperor in the Immortal Realm for a time.” The Ghost Mother of Self Transformation laughed.

This finally startled Fang Chen.

His grandfather’s era was even earlier than Ghost Mother of Self Transformation’s?

How many years had passed for him to live until now? He had even stirred the Immortal Realm and ruled as emperor for a time?

That was... remarkably carefree.

“I thought he had no descendants. I never expected...” The Ghost Mother of Self Transformation glanced at Fang Chen a few more times, then nodded lightly. “We still have hope of winning. Although your grandfather was once defeated, it was only because the enemy was too strong. The enemies we face now are far weaker than those of that time.”

“I think our chances of victory are quite good as well.” Fang Chen nodded gently.

Jiang Tianai couldn’t understand the conversation between the two of them. At that moment, some cultivators from the Spirit God Sect noticed her presence and hurried over to ask whether she had fallen into demonic corruption.

Before they could even get close, Jiang Tianai had already vanished.

...

Enlightenment Underworld Realm.

Reincarnation Division, in the chief’s office.

Fang Chen handed the Yin Gourd in his hand to Wang Chongsong. “The matter has been settled. All the human seeds from various places are inside. Some of them, I’ll mark them specially when registering them and arrange their reincarnation locations.”

“Arrange them where?”

“Dongsheng Empire. It’s closer to my Renzu Mountain.”

“Mm.” Wang Chongsong didn’t seem to care much. “I’ll give you another list later. Those people also need to be specially marked.”

After a pause, he added, “That one is already outside?”

“He’s waiting outside. Once he gets my message, he’ll make a move to lure away those two Ghost Immortals.” After saying this, Fang Chen suddenly asked again, “The Ghost Immortal path... Is it related to Motian Dizang? What’s that person’s background?”

“You know about Motian Dizang too? Oh, he must’ve told you.” Wang Chongsong smiled faintly. “I don’t know much about him, but I suspect he’s from my side.”

“It doesn’t matter. In the underworld, as long as he can’t find you, you’ll always have the upper hand. Just hold the Lesser Underworld and keep it safe.”

Just hold the Lesser Underworld?

Fang Chen suddenly felt that those trying to break through the barrier between the two realms... Could they be subordinates of that Motian Dizang?

“Oh, right, the Saint Son has already begun his experiments in the Lower Six Realms.”

Fang Chen relayed everything he had seen, observed, and analyzed in detail.

“I told you, we have a good chance of winning.” Wang Chongsong smiled lightly. “In the short term, it’s impossible for him to use this method to sweep across the Nine Mortal Realms.”

“You told me? You said this before?” Fang Chen’s expression shifted slightly.

“This is my list.” Wang Chongsong waved his hand. “A batch of wandering souls is about to enter reincarnation. As an official, hurry up and do your job. Get the registers submitted for verification as soon as possible.”

“All right. I’ll bring them to you soon.” Fang Chen nodded lightly and turned to leave.

After a long interval, Fang Chen once again arrived at the Reincarnation Division.

Only a third of the desks were occupied by core disciples of the Enlightenment God Palace.

Fang Chen felt a tinge of emotion.

Who would have thought that the mighty core disciples of the Enlightenment God Palace outside would still have to do this kind of work once they came to the Enlightenment Underworld Realm?

But whatever the position, one had to shoulder the corresponding responsibility.

In this regard, the Enlightenment God Palace did a very good job. It was fair and just.

Many core disciples nodded in greeting when they saw Fang Chen arrive. They already knew he had become their new boss. As for Pei Tu, he had long since run off cheerfully.

None of these core disciples felt any particular resentment.

In the Enlightenment God Palace, strength spoke for itself.

The reason Xie Aman could command unquestioned authority, with even the Elder Council daring not to slight her words, was because her fist was terrifyingly large... They were frighteningly powerful.

As for Fang Chen, after the battle for Great Thunder Sound Temple, he had settled everything with two Formation Immortal Arts in one decisive strike. News of it had already spread through the Enlightenment God Palace, letting everyone know that he was no pushover either.

Fang Chen, like a supervising official, inspected the area, then sat down at his desk and began working as well, registering Fairy Yu, Xun Xiyin, and the others.

Seeing this, the nearby core disciples immediately felt much more at ease.

“This one’s better than Pei Tu. Pei Tu never bothered with this kind of work.”

“A new official taking office and doing everything personally... Core Disciple Fang has a bright future. It probably won’t be long before he’s reporting to the Central Division as well.”

“Yeah. Only people like us will probably be stuck here doing registrations forever.”

Thinking of this, their mood for conversation instantly evaporated, and they lowered their heads to work again.

To them, this officer was clearly just here to gild his resume.

Half a month later.

Fang Chen received an uncountable number of registers. The work came to a temporary halt as the remaining wandering souls would have to wait until the next round to be registered.

“Core Disciple Fang, we’ll have to trouble you to deliver these registers for verification. We’re clocking out now, farewell.” The group of core disciples cupped their hands, then hurried off, eager to leave and unwilling to stay there even a moment longer.

Seeing this, Fang Chen personally carried the registers to the verification Division and met the chief verification officer.

The man smiled faintly at Fang Chen, then picked a few registers from the very top, distributing the rest to the subordinates.

Seeing that, Fang Chen finally relaxed.

Wang Chongsong had indeed paved the way.
