Immortal of the Nine Realms

Pointing at Fang Chen, the Giant Sword Gate Master smiled over at the other sect masters. “To show our sincerity, how about each of us make a move against him?

”Good! For a person from the northern region to appear here today, he must either be a spy or a detective. He deserves to die!” The Qishan Sect Master snorted and advanced toward Fang Chen, sword raised.

Seeing that, many other sect masters similarly approached Fang Chen in order to showcase their stance, as well as their determination, to the Giant Sword Gate Master.

”Let me go first!” shouted Xian Kun. He wielded his broadsword and charged toward Fang Chen.

The sect masters in the forefront made way for him respectfully, as he was the son of Xian Wuchang. If Xian Wuchang became the martial emperor, Xian Kun would naturally be the martial crown prince at the time.

In an instant, Xian Kun appeared in front of Fang Chen, and the broadsword in his hand came crashing down!

The expressions of everyone turned strange.

”Is it going to end just like that?”

”Well, there’s still the other one.”

As the sword came down, Xian Kun eyed Fang Chen, who still had his eyes closed, briefly. A trace of ferocity flashed in Xian Kun’s eyes, and he exerted more force through the blade.

Zhong Ying and the others couldn’t bear to witness the scene and closed their eyes. However, a few breaths later, they felt that something wasn’t right. Why was it so quiet? And where is Young Master Li’s screams of agony?

They quickly opened their eyes to a shocking scene.

Fang Chen’s face was expressionless as he lightly pinched Xian Kun’s broadsword between two of his fingers. And it seemed as though regardless of how much force Xian Kun tried to exert, the broadsword didn’t so much as budge a single inch!

”Hiss!” Many people sucked in a cold breath of air.

Turns out Young Master Li was also a martial arts prodigy! thought Zhong Ying in surprise.

Xian Kun was a Qi Detonation martial artist, and the Giant Sword Gate’s swordsmanship was direct and powerful. However, Fang Chen managed to stop it with only two fingers, leaving Xian Kun in a dilemma. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move the broadsword at all!

Xian Kun’s eyes flashed with resentment “Damn it!” He hadn’t expected that Fang Chen would be an expert. He had lost face in front of so many martial artists! How was he supposed to face them in the future?

Clang!

Fang Chen exerted a light force with his fingertip and instantly shattered the broadsword made of steel into bits and pieces, and the fragments fell and stabbed into the soil.

Looking at the empty-handed Fang Chen, the resentment in Xian Kun’s eyes gradually turned into astonishment.

”Is he an expert from the northern region?”

”Even without opening his eyes from the beginning to the end, he still managed to defeat Xian Kun?”

While the sect masters were relatively surprised, they weren’t exactly astonished. They could also accomplish what Fang Chen had done.

Xian Wuchang looked at Fang Chen, a confident smile up on his face. ”What position do you hold in the northern region?”

Fang Chen smiled and replied with a question of his own. ”Xian Wuchang, are you trying to rule the southern region?”

After a few moments of silence, Xian Wuchang replied, ”What’s wrong with that?”

Fang Chen chuckled. ”Although the emperor of Grand Xia is a bit of a bastard, if you proclaim yourself emperor too, it will start a war between the northern and southern regions. You might benefit from this, but I’m afraid the commoners might not even find food to eat. Why don’t you listen to my advice and be content with being the master of Giant Sword Gate?”

”Who do you think you are? How dare a junior like you utter such arrogant words to the Giant Sword Gate Master? No matter what, the southern region is going to rebel today!”

The Qishan Sect Master sneered. ”You guys have eyes but fail to see.”

Huangfu Jie, who had remained silent all along, couldn’t help but laugh. Then, he bowed to Fang Chen and said, ”My lord, if you hadn’t arrived in the nick of time, I’m afraid my Profound Blade Sect would have been destroyed today.”

The sect master of the Profound Blade Sect led hundreds of disciples and bowed respectfully. ”We pay our respects to you, Duke Fang!”

Duke Fang!?

Everyone was stunned and sucked in a cold breath collectively. They couldn’t believe that the extremely young, young master in front of them was none other than Fang Chen, the number one martial artist in Grand Xia!

Turning to Zhong Ying, a disciple from Azure Point Sword stuttered, ”S-Senior sister, is he Divine General Fang?!”

Zhong Ying was shocked. She found it hard to believe.

The Azure Point Sword Master looked at Zhong Ying with a strange expression and said, ”You said... A demon was scared away because of our reputation? Was Duke Fang there at that time?”

Zhong Ying nodded in a daze. ”Y-Yes...”

Everyone immediately understood what had really happened, and their expressions couldn’t help but turn strange. It turned out that the demon wasn’t scared away at the mention of the Azure Point Sword Sect, but because it had recognized Duke Fang.

”Even the demons are afraid of him...” The disciples from the Azure Point Sword Sect, who had traveled with Fang Chen for a while, exchanged glances. They saw the shock in each other’s eyes.

Xian Kun’s face turned pale. He pointed at Fang Chen and stuttered, unable to complete a sentence. ”Y-Y-You are...”

The people from the Qishan Sect were even more shocked as beads of sweat the size of soybeans oozed out from their foreheads.

Xian Wuchange regained his senses, and unprecedented seriousness appeared in his eyes as he stared at Fang Chen, “You are...”

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Jue Panshi, who ran out of the crowd and half-knelt in front of Fang Chen. ”Duke Fang, you’ve finally arrived! Xian Wuchang is planning to rebel! I believe that it is necessary to eliminate all sects in the nine prefectures. They have lost their sense of place and are even thinking of establishing their empire! This is simply treason!”

Xian Wuchang and the others’ expressions changed slightly, but soon, Xian Wuchang calmed down and said indifferently, ”Duke Fang, since you are here, I will ask you a question on behalf of the martial artists of the nine prefectures.”

“Speak,” said Fang Chen indifferently.

“Can the southern region maintain its current order? If so, I will immediately take my people away,” said Xian Wuchang.

Fang Chen smiled. “When I was younger, the southern region was already in a state of chaos. However, as I felt that my strength was insufficient, I didn’t care too much about it. The current state of the southern region became increasingly chaotic. You, together with some officials, extorted wealth and resources from common people, exploiting them for many spiritual medicines and materials. Such actions have made life unbearable for the people who are less fortunate. The southern region is inherently impoverished, and such constant exploitation is pushing the common people to their brink. This has caused a sharp decline in population. The people’s offsprings simply cannot survive. Without a growing population, the southern region will only become more and more barren as time goes by. This will form a vicious cycle, and in a few years, perhaps the region will only be left with martial artists. Is that the scene you wish to see?”

”Nonsense!” Xian Wuchang snorted coldly. ”So you believe that to rectify the situation in the southern region, you must punish the martial artists?”

Fang Chen nodded.

Xian Wuchang sneered. ”In that case, we will rebel. Today, there are thousands of experts gathered from various sects and factions. I wonder how many of us can you kill?”

Xian Kun tried to skulk out of Fang Chen’s reach as he was absorbed in the conversation. However, in the next moment, Fang Chen grabbed Xian Kun and pulled him toward him. Once he had a firm grip on Xian Kun’s neck, Fang Chen tossed him to Huangfu Jie.

”Detain him first. We will execute him later,” ordered Fang Chen.

”Yes.”

Huangfu Jie nodded immediately, used a palm strike to seal Xian Kun’s qi sea, and knocked him out cold before handing him over to a few disciples of the Profound Blade Sect for imprisonment.

Seeing this, Xian Wuchang’s face didn’t falter, and he appeared as calm as ever; however, the bulging veins on his forehead revealed his inner rage.

”There are many among you who have never harmed the populace. You are not the one’s I plan to punish. But if you are adamant on rebelling with Xian Wuchang, I won’t hold my hand. Weigh your decision carefully.”

Fang Chen opened his gray-white eyes and looked at the crowd.
