The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 768: Chapter 299: Wavering, Provocation, Tipping Over_4

For instance, her former mentor was actually usually quite stern and reserved, yet today when Jiang Qingkui visited Beijing University, she also paid him a visit. However, Chen Yanqing was a bit busy and hadn’t managed to say much to Jiang Qingkui.

”No, professor, please go ahead and speak.”

”Here’s the thing, Qingkui, are you currently working for a businessman named Zhou Wang?”

”Yes, professor, why do you ask...”

Jiang Qingkui looked up at Zhou Wang, then asked curiously.

”I heard about this Zhou Wang, isn’t he quite young?”

Jiang Qingkui instinctively defended Zhou Wang. ”Professor, although Mr. Zhou isn’t very old, he’s quite capable, he...”

”Hey, Qingkui, don’t misunderstand, I didn’t mean to belittle him... I just wanted to confirm his age because Dean Li mentioned him today, and I was quite surprised.”

”Dean Li?”

Jiang Qingkui was shocked. The Dean Li that Chen Yanqing mentioned was one of the vice-deans of Peking University Law School, truly a respected figure.

”When you came today, wasn’t I discussing with several faculty members about organizing a series of events called ’Youth Lecture Series’?”

”Professor, do you mean...”

”Your young boss, Mr. Zhou Wang, is on our invitation list, or rather, he is actually our primary invitee. If possible, we’d like him to be the first guest speaker at this presentation event.”

Chen Yanqing laughed. ”I’m contacting you now, actually, for official business... After all, you’re his secretary, and it’s appropriate for you to convey this.”

Jiang Qingkui couldn’t hear what Chen Yanqing said afterward as she was engulfed in shock and bewilderment.

She certainly knew Zhou Wang was exceptional, a billionaire in his early twenties. Wherever he went, he was a remarkable figure. Recently, when she accompanied Zhou Wang to Cai University, she witnessed the university president personally greet him, and he soon became Caiyun University’s executive director. But...

This was Beidou!

It’s the second top comprehensive university in Huaxia and ranked 14th in the QS World University Rankings.

A billionaire, however, didn’t hold transformative influence over such an institution.

More importantly, Zhou Wang hadn’t donated to Beidou University. At the very least, at Cai University, Zhou Wang had donated thirty million...

The ’Youth Lecture Series’ event might not be one of Beidou University’s most important activities, but being initiated by a dean-level figure meant it certainly wasn’t a casually organized regular event.

What made Zhou Wang deserve to be one of the primary invitees...

Yes, Jiang Qingkui believed she understood Zhou Wang quite well, yet at this moment, she still felt bewildered.

”Qingkui, Qingkui... are you still there?”

”Yes, professor, I understand... I will pass your invitation to Mr. Zhou. Also, could you please have the relevant person send a formal invitation letter to my email?”

Chen Yanqing’s inquiry woke up Jiang Qingkui from her daze. She pulled herself together, unable to untangle her raw thoughts, and quickly responded.

Chen Yanqing chatted with Jiang Qingkui for a few more sentences. After hanging up the phone, Jiang Qingkui, filled with complex emotions, looked up at Zhou Wang, only to find that he wasn’t even pleasantly surprised. He simply lit a cigarette at some point and was frowning, pondering something.

”Mr. Zhou, what are you thinking about?”

Since she had the speakerphone on, there was no need to even convey the message. Surely Zhou Wang heard it. Jiang Qingkui was just curious about how Zhou Wang’s reaction was different from what she expected.

Hearing Jiang Qingkui’s inquiry, Zhou Wang let out a hmm, speaking with a bit of indecision, ”I was just thinking about whether to go or not...”

”Huh?”

Jiang Qingkui never expected Zhou Wang would hesitate, especially about that question... This was Beidou!

To go there and not to speak of benefits, the fame would surely be substantial. What’s there to hesitate over?

”I’ve been showing off too much lately, it’s a bit annoying...”

Zhou Wang sighed.

”...”

”Forget it, forget it, Professor Chen, after all, is Professor Wang’s senior. Given that connection, I must give face. Please confirm the schedule with Beijing University.”

The tone was incredibly reluctant, it must be my illusion, right?

Jiang Qingkui could only think so silently.

”Qingkui, keep going, what about that arrangement?”

But Zhou Wang seemed to regard this as a trivial matter, and once decided, he quickly moved on, asking instead.

”I... it’s nothing. I, I just wanted to test if you still remember the previous arrangement.”

Jiang Qingkui then recalled her purpose in finding Zhou Wang. Somehow, she suddenly found herself unable to speak of it, stuttering as she replied.

Hmm?

Zhou Wang raised an eyebrow. This was the first time he heard Jiang Qingkui stutter. Clearly, that wasn’t what she originally intended to say.

”Qingkui, you’re not being honest. Why do I feel like you’re teasing your boss?”

Facing Zhou Wang’s suspicious gaze, Jiang Qingkui, unsure how else to explain, suddenly made an incredibly bold decision.

Even though this sudden idea was incomprehensible even to herself...

She lifted her head, biting one side of her lip, with a slightly defiant look in her eyes, ”What if I say yes?”

The room fell silent.

After a moment of being stunned, Zhou Wang’s eyes turned dangerous, ”Are you sure?”
