The Return Of The God Level Assassin

Chapter 863: ʼSHE THOUGHT HE WOULD BE DIFFERENTʼ

LUO YAN looked around as they walked towards the farmhouse. There were not many changes from the last time he was here. There was just a lot more vegetable plot. Something new should be the solar panels on the roof of the farmhouse as well as a huge water tank besides it.

Was the director trying to make the orphanage more self-sufficient?

He remembered that he suggested it to here before in passing. Why did he suggest that? Ah, itʼs because he watched a tiny-home video and thought that the orphanage could probably save a lot of money if it tried to be self-sufficient. He was really just talking out of his ass back then. He didnʼt expect the director to take it seriously and really implement it.

That must have cost a lot of money.

Xiao Xing orphanage had never really lacked for anything. But that was under the condition that the consumption was under moderation. In that regard, the director was a genius. Despite the lacking donations, she seemed to have a way to still properly maintain the orphanage within the budget they had.

Did the director find a reliable sponsor? The other answer he could think of was that she sold some of the lands she owned. From what Luo Yan could remember, the director owned this stretch of land where the orphanage was located. She was from a pretty prominent family in this province. But instead of joining the family business or living a life as a socialite, she used her inheritance to buy this land and build an orphanage.

She also never married and just spent her days in this orphanage. Luo Yan asked her about that one time and she said that all the children in the orphanage were her child. So, thereʼs really no need to get married.

He didnʼt think much about that before. But now that he thought about it, the other probably experienced heartbreak so severe, she no longer trusted in love.

They hadnʼt reached the farmhouse yet when a woman in her mid-50s walked out. She was wearing a simple house dress with her hair tied in a loose bun. Even though she was wearing something so simple, it still couldnʼt hide her inner elegance. She walked towards them and meet them half-way.

”Iʼm sorry, Mr. Luo. I should have greeted you sooner,” she said.

This woman was the director of the orphanage, Yang Lanfen. Luo Yan couldnʼt help but stare at the other with awe the moment she appeared.

She was definitely much older than the last time he saw her. If one looked closely, they could even see the fine lines at the corner of her eyes. She still looked elegantly beautiful though. And definitely looked much younger compared to other in the same age range. In fact, at one glance, people would think that sheʼs in her 40s instead.

”Itʼs alright, Miss Yang. We didnʼt come here for a grand welcome,” Luo Wei Tian said, waving his hand to show that it didnʼt matter.

Yang Lanfen smiled at that. In truth, they were all very busy this morning to welcome the guests coming today. When she received a call from a man introducing himself as the secretary of the CEO and president of Tianhua Group, she was really surprised. Even more so after he heard that they were planning to donate to their orphanage.

She knew about Tianhua Group of course. But they were much more active in S City. Thatʼs why sheʼs very surprised that they would pick an orphanage from another province to sponsor. But she was told that it was the second young master of the family who chose them.

That was even more surprising for her. She even wondered if there was some hidden motive in it. But at the end, she just chose to accept the sponsorship. After all, it would definitely help the orphanage and the children. And besides, she also did her research before agreeing.

Tianhua Group had a pretty good reputation. There hadnʼt been any massive scandal since the time of its founding. There was one big news though. That incident that happened more than seven years ago. The wife of the president died and the second young master was hospitalized.

When she found out that it was the same young master who chose their orphanage, her vigilance completely disappeared. A child who had been through so much couldnʼt possibly be scheming by donating money to the orphanage.

Yang Lanfen turned to the four boys accompanying President Luo. The three who were incredibly tall were holding bags filled with different things in it. One had toys, the other had books, and the last one seemed to be filled with snacks and other trinkets. The one who didnʼt carry any bags was the most beautiful out of the four boys.

It was not the kind of beauty that was effeminate. No, she didnʼt for a second thought that the other was a girl. It was the kind of beauty that transcended even gender. Of course, the other three were just as handsome.

”Iʼve never seen a group of boys so handsome,” she said as a compliment. ”Mr. Luo is truly blessed.”

”Thank you for the compliment,” Luo Wei Tian generously accepted the praise.

Then Yan Lanfeng suddenly remembered that President Luo only had three sons. But there were four boys here. Could it be that one of them was an illegitimate child? That wouldnʼt be too out of the ordinary for a rich person like him. And seeing as he didnʼt correct her, wouldnʼt that be the case?

Suddenly, her good impression of Luo Wei Tian plummeted to the bottom. Itʼs fine if he had the child after his wife passed away. But since the four boys were already this big, itʼs obvious that he had the child while his wife was still alive.

And here she thought he would be different.

Luo Yan, who hadnʼt taken his gaze away from the director, saw her constant change in expression. He had grown up under the otherʼs supervision, so he quite had an idea what the other was thinking right now.

If it wasnʼt so rude, he would have probably already laughed.
