STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

Wilderness

The Darkshade Team Leader was moving secretly towards the hideout. Only a few hundred metres remained. As long as he reached his hideout, he would be safe.

But it was not that easy to escape the eyes of the Tsetse fly beasts. Right now, a group of Tsetse fly beasts was searching for prey.

These beasts have large compound eyes that scan every inch of the ground with incredible speed. At the rate they were going, they would soon succeed.

The large swarm of flies moved forward. It didn’t take long for one of the Tier-6 beasts to spot a small figure fleeing in the distance.

Swoosh!

The Tier-6 fly beast flapped its wings. The robust creature rushed forward and arrived behind its prey.

The Darkshade Leader felt a massive sense of crisis, so overwhelming that he slowly turned around.

The next second, he petrified on the spot. His eyes locked onto the needle-like mouthparts of the fly, just a few metres from his body.

Pfff!

The sharp needle pierced through the leader’s back. A large amount of blood gushed from the wound. In an instant, the blood in his body began to drain as the Tsetse fly beast continued to absorb it.

In the blink of an eye, the Tier-6 body of the Beast Tamer became a dry husk. Until the very last moment, the leader was unable to summon his lifeline beast.

Pfff!

He spat blood before dying on the spot. The Tier-6 Tsetse fly beast drank to its heart’s content.

After killing the last human, it rejoined the swarm. The group then moved away from the area to continue their hunt.

Tsetse fly beasts are one of many dangerous groups inhabiting the unexplored areas.

Criminal organisations had faced numerous casualties here before; most were killed by the dangerous beasts roaming the unexplored area.

Compared to the known areas, the unexplored wilderness has a wide variety of corrupted beasts.

Usually, these beasts don’t pay attention to the areas near the city because the natural energy there is not as rich. Yet, there are still corrupted beasts that enter the known wilderness from time to time.

This time, the Tsetse fly beasts had entered. It was a true crisis for the Beast Tamers. If they didn’t alert the governors, more casualties would occur.

However, the Tsetse fly beasts were not stupid; these higher-tier beasts were intellectual.

Once their hunger was sated, they would lay low for a period. Until the next feeding time, they wouldn’t venture out in large groups.

Right now, the Tsetse fly beasts had yet to satisfy their hunger. The Darkshade members hadn’t been enough to satisfy them.

Time went by.

The Tsetse fly beasts encountered more Beast Tamers in the wilderness. The Tamers and their lifeline beasts were no match for the swarm.

Pfff!

One after another, the Beast Tamers and their lifeline beasts had their blood sucked until nothing was left of their bodies. It didn’t take long for the news to spread.

There were veterans who recognised the deadly insect beasts from a distance. They didn’t continue their missions; instead, they fled back toward the city. They needed to reach it within a day.

Their wilderness had uninvited guests. If they didn’t inform the governors and the other Beast Taming forces, the death toll would skyrocket.

...

Red Moon Chamber

In the practice room, Jeremy Night was practising his blade moves along with his new thread techniques.

He could freely bend the thread now, but it was not yet at the desired level. If he used too much force, the thread would break.

Right now, he could only control a single thread, but he wanted to control multiple threads simultaneously.

In that way, he could use his moves like spider webs to catch and kill his enemies. He had even watched videos of spider-corrupted beasts to derive his own ideas.

However, spider-corrupted beasts have a natural ability to use silk. He understood that he needed unreal control over the starlight thread.

He was not disheartened; he believed he would create his own creative killer moves one day.

That evening, he walked out of the room, ending his practice. He went to the bath to take a shower, which lasted twenty minutes.

Creak!

He walked out and changed into comfortable clothes. Once ready, he left the room to take a walk in the back garden.

Passing through the lobby, he came across many members busy with their own work. His gaze fell on the office, seeing the staff helping members, before he shifted his attention to the exit.

Creak!

He opened the door, walked out, and bumped into an annoying member Freya.

”What are you doing here?” Freya asked.

”Me?” Jeremy was taken aback. ”What is it with you?”

”I’m minding my own business,” he said, walking past her.

Freya was stunned. She couldn’t believe the newcomer had ignored her.

”Humph!” She gave a cold snort before heading inside.

On the other hand, Jeremy started walking along the footpath. He didn’t give her space to talk because he knew she would only insult him.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he began to enjoy the garden. The sight of the beautiful flowering plants gave him a cool vibe.

He took a deep breath as he entered the garden. It was empty at that moment. While walking, he recalled the blade and thread moves in his mind.

The plants swayed in the breeze, bringing serenity to his mind.

He then walked up to the sitting area and then sat down. Now he feels peaceful in both his mind and heart.

He can derive more ideas clearly. He wanted to increase combat strength without relying on the starlight power.

Only by training in such a way. He can do well during times of crisis. He then thought of something before taking out the device.

He decided to watch the news. The news feed appears on his device. He clicked the live news streaming.

He then watches anchor speaking about the wilderness. The major forces have started issuing missions once again.

Since the internal problem was solved. They can focus on the wilderness hereafter.
