City Gate:

The Giant Bird flies over the huge City Wall. The beast tamers on the ground recognized the bird. They heaved a sigh of relief. Those who were fleeing stopped in their tracks.

The City Guard Captain felt his life had returned to him. He couldn’t have solved this alone.

Chirp!

City Governor Elton spoke to his lifeline beast. The Giant Bird made a cry before leaving the city gate. Elton was watching all the commotion happening on the ground.

His attention then fell on the tremors. The ground below was shaking. Elton realized that worm beasts were attacking the foundation.

The next second, he spoke to the lifeline beast. The Giant Bird then dove down to touch the ground. The Beast Tamers didn’t dare to approach the place.

Boom!

Because of the force generated by the flapping of the bird’s wings, the shockwave swept away the surroundings. If anyone dared to get near the bird, they would be sent flying by the shockwave.

When the bird touched down, Elton landed on the ground as well. He tried to probe the underground area.

Compared to him, his lifeline beast had sensed the presence of the corrupted beast beneath the ground.

Chirp!

Upon hearing the mental message from the lifeline beast, Elton confirmed the location of the beast.

”Fortunately, it’s still outside,” he thought.

”Everyone vacate the area. No one should enter this perimeter,” he uttered.

His voice reached everyone’s ears. The thick-browed middle-aged captain acted swiftly. He began to coordinate with others.

Meanwhile,

The Tier-5 Corrupted Worm beast had been trying to penetrate the concrete foundation, but its attempts ended in failure.

Just as the worm beast was about to collide with the concrete structure, it felt a huge sense of crisis. The worm beast’s instincts kicked in.

It ignored the concrete structure and began to flee underground. The Tier-5 Worm beast faced a threat from the surface.

So it disappeared into the ground, moving in the direction of the wilderness.

Chirp!

The Giant Bird sensed that the worm beast had changed direction. Now it was heading back to the wilderness. It immediately conveyed the message to Elton.

”Good,” Elton uttered.

Now he could take action against the beast in the open wilderness.

Swoosh!

Then he stood on the back of the bird beast. The next second, the Giant Bird took off. With a force, it began chasing down the worm beast.

Once again, the shockwave swept away the surroundings. Dust and debris rose into the air. The Beast Tamers who were watching understood something.

Cheer!

The next moment, everyone began to cheer. The death sentence hanging over their heads was gone.

The captain showed a relaxed smile as well. They had come so close to death. If the Tier-5 Worm Beast had breached the city, the casualties would have been severe.

...

Central University 14:

Jeremy Night had already reached the university. But instead of entering, he was watching the live broadcast of the news at the gate.

He saw the Giant Bird in the sky. He knew it was Governor Elton. He was the one who had killed the high-tier beast responsible for the beast invasion.

He didn’t expect him to come out to solve the problem.

”Today, I was lucky. Otherwise, it would have eaten me for a snack. Thinking about the beast tamers it has swallowed sends chills down my spine,” Jeremy thought.

He had taken a risk by entering a new unexplored area, but he realized the danger of it. A higher-tier beast was inhabiting it. The soil in that area was suitable for worm beasts.

He hadn’t had time to pay attention to the details. Now that he looked back on the little details, he realized that he had barged into worm beast territory.

If there had been more than one worm beast, the consequences could have been severe. He then collected his thoughts before watching the live stream.

He then saw Governor Elton entering the wilderness on his lifeline beast.

A hint of envy flashed in his eyes as he thought about the flying-type lifeline beast. Jeremy knew that a flying-type lifeline beast could save your life.

He then thought about the worm beast. He believed that Governor Elton wouldn’t return without slaying the beast.

He turned around and started walking into the university. The two guards looked at Jeremy’s back before looking at each other.

On the other hand, Jeremy’s eyes narrowed. He felt that the two guards were paying attention to him. He was like any other student at the university.

There was no need for the guards to pay special attention to him.

Jeremy started to feel suspicious. Even if there was something, he doubted the guards would tell him the truth.

He decided to watch their activities next time.

Then he resumed walking towards the dormitory.

When he was gone from the area, the guards nodded to each other before calling 2nd-year student Billy.

Billy answered the call and learned what had happened from the guards.

”It’s impossible,” he uttered.

Then his gaze fell on the live streaming of the news as well.

Billy then realized that the Mercenary Team must have faced setbacks because of the worm beast’s appearance. But he still did not know that they had been swallowed by the worm beast.

”Lucky bastard!”

Billy gritted his teeth in anger. He had thought today he would receive good news. Yet things had gone beyond his plan. He could only hope that the Mercenary Team would not fail next time.

A few minutes later,

Jeremy reached his dormitory. On the way, everyone was talking about the City Gate attack. The worm beast had shocked everyone.

A smile appeared on Jeremy’s face. He was the one who had led the worm beast to the city. But he couldn’t tell others about it.

Everything went according to his plan. It’s just that the appearance of Governor Elton, who was a Tier-7 Beast Tamer, was overkill for the Tier-5 Worm beast.

He then shifted his attention and entered his dorm room.
