When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: The General’s Little Pampered Wife 36

News of the incident at the villa quickly reached Xiao Shen. That very night, he galloped there on his horse.

Ji Xiaosong hadn’t yet retired for the night and was still mulling over the evening’s events.

The Second Prince’s sudden attack had obviously been aimed at her.

It didn’t take much thought to realize it was because she had given birth.

Xiao Shen had assigned her more guards than before; it seemed he had anticipated this all along.

”My wife, are you unharmed?”

The moment he dismounted, Xiao Shen rushed into Ji Xiaosong’s courtyard.

Heaven only knew how anxious he had been when his subordinates came to report what had happened.

Thankfully, he had prepared in advance. If something had truly happened, he couldn’t imagine what he would do.

”I’m fine. You arranged for so many guards ahead of time. They’re incredibly capable; the Second Prince’s men didn’t succeed.”

Ji Xiaosong rose to her feet, slowly approached Xiao Shen, and then gently wrapped her arms around him.

She rested her head against Xiao Shen’s chest and said softly, ”The Second Prince came in person today. The way he was acting... it was as if he planned to carry me off by force. So brazen. I can’t imagine who gave him the nerve.”

Xiao Shen held Ji Xiaosong tightly, stroking her back as he said gently, ”Don’t be afraid, my wife. As long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone harm a single hair on your head. That Second Prince is audacious and reckless. I will make him pay the price.”

”Don’t you worry about this anymore, my wife. Get some rest. I’ll stay right here with you.”

With that, Xiao Shen carried Ji Xiaosong to the bed, helped her out of her outer robe, and settled her down. He then removed his own robes and lay down beside her.

Ji Xiaosong turned on her side and nestled into Xiao Shen’s embrace. He wrapped an arm around her, placed a kiss on her forehead, and whispered coaxingly, ”Go to sleep, my wife.”

’Even though my wife looks completely unharmed, who’s to say she isn’t just putting on a brave face for me?’

’The fighting tonight was so fierce. My wife must have been terrified, right?’

’She must be afraid of making me worry, so she’s putting on a strong front and forcing herself to stay calm.’

”But, my husband, I can’t seem to fall asleep.”

’The Second Prince only wants to snatch me away because he knows how fertile I am, right?’

’In that case, I’ll just have a few more kids and infuriate him!’

’With Xiao Shen’s abilities, I’m sure he can protect me completely.’

Ever since she’d given birth, the two of them hadn’t had a chance to be properly intimate.

The midwife had previously warned Xiao Shen to abstain from intimacy for a long time after childbirth. And since she had delivered so many babies at once, he hadn’t dared to touch her.

But in truth, she had been fully recovered for a long time.

”Are you frightened?”

Xiao Shen grew a little tense. ’My wife is scared. How should I comfort her?’

”No.”

Ji Xiaosong wriggled in Xiao Shen’s embrace like a soft kitten. Her crimson lips parted slightly, her breath sweet as she purred coquettishly, ”My dear husband, it’s only been a few days. Did you miss me?”

The last word seemed to curl around her tongue, her voice soft, sweet, and languid.

She buried her head deeper into Xiao Shen’s firm chest, one hand tracing light, almost imperceptible circles over his heart.

Catching him off guard, she suddenly lifted her head and gently nipped his Adam’s apple with her pearly teeth.

Xiao Shen froze for an instant before he understood her intent. His breath grew ragged, and a blazing fire seemed to ignite in his eyes.

He looked down at the enchanting woman in his arms, his voice low and husky with suppressed desire. ”My wife, are you absolutely sure? The midwife said—”

”Shhh...”

Ji Xiaosong gently pressed her index finger to Xiao Shen’s lips. ”My husband, I’m truly all better now. If you don’t believe me... why don’t you test it for yourself and find out?”

Her breathing was soft and shallow as she wound her arms around Xiao Shen’s neck like pliant vines. Tilting her head back, she offered up her luscious, waiting lips, her tongue darting out to gently lick his.

At that, Xiao Shen could no longer hold back the surging tide of his desire. He flipped over, pinning Ji Xiaosong beneath him, and returned her kiss with a beast-like passion.

Ji Xiaosong felt her entire body go limp and pliant, as if tendrils of heat were unfurling from deep within her.

The flowers outside had bloomed, but it wasn’t enough. Not nearly enough.

The wind blew in, circling the flower countless times.

The wind twirled around the flower, swaying in the darkness, as if they were the only two beings in existence. After a long while, the flower began to echo the wind’s whisper, and its very stalk grew faintly hot.

The candlelight in the room had yet to be extinguished, and it shone upon the wind until it seemed to take on a physical form.

「At dawn the next day.」

Ji Xiaosong was curled up in Xiao Shen’s arms like a lazy kitten, her face a picture of contentment and bashful bliss.

”Will you be coming home, my wife?”

”I will make a decision after I discuss it with Mother.”

”But... I want you to come home soon.”

They had only just finished, but Xiao Shen was already thinking about how he could spend every night with his wife from now on.

’If she didn’t come home, wouldn’t he have to go back to being abstinent for who knows how long?’

’This was simply...’

’The very thought was unbearable!’

’He had already endured this for several months. Now that he finally had the chance to get back to their old ways, there was no way he was giving it up.’

”Don’t be in such a rush, my husband! I’m sure Mother and my two sisters-in-law were badly frightened by last night’s events. It’s not impossible for us to go home today. But never mind that, I need to sleep a little longer. I didn’t sleep a wink all night, and I’m exhausted.”

Xiao Shen’s stamina was incredible. Each time, Ji Xiaosong had to draw on what little Spiritual Power she possessed just so she could enjoy herself without passing out from exhaustion.

”Alright. Go to sleep, my wife.”

Xiao Shen held Ji Xiaosong tightly, feeling her breathing gradually steady. He patted her back gently, as if lulling an infant to sleep.

However, the soft, warm body in his arms caused his own to react involuntarily.

As if sensing it, Ji Xiaosong gave his waist a playful pinch, only to find nothing but hard muscle that she couldn’t get a grip on.

Xiao Shen couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle, the sound rumbling from his chest, deep and magnetic.

He whispered in her ear, ”Don’t be upset, my wife. I won’t make a move. Just sleep in peace.”

Ji Xiaosong gave a soft huff and burrowed deeper into his embrace, finding a more comfortable position before quickly falling fast asleep once more.

When she woke again, the setting sun was already hanging over the mountainside.

Ji Xiaosong rubbed her sleepy eyes and turned to look at the space beside her, but Xiao Shen was gone.

She got up and straightened her clothes. Just as she was about to head out, Xiao Shen walked in with a smile on his face.

”You’re awake, my wife.”

”Where have you been?”

”I went to persuade your mother and two sisters-in-law. We’re taking our four children and heading back to the mansion today.”

”Alright... but...”

Before Ji Xiaosong could finish her thought, Xiao Shen cut her off.

”Everything is already packed. We were just waiting for you to get ready, and then we’ll be on our way.”

’Well, then. It looked like she didn’t have to do a thing; everyone else had already done it for her.’

”You all are certainly efficient, not even bothering to ask for my opinion.”

”Please don’t be upset, my wife. I was just so eager for you to return to the mansion so our family could be reunited.”

”You’re just impatient.”

Before long, the entire family, young and old, had boarded the carriage and were swaying along on their way back to the mansion.

Meanwhile, at the General Mansion, an unexpected guest was awaiting their return.
