The Game of a Legendary Genius Dark Mage

When Seong grasped the dice, ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) Destiny, it transformed into a 20-sided die in his hand.

This was the treasure among treasures of Kahku.

An item that could alter any probability.

No matter how low the chance, Seong could roll the dice to maximize it.

Up to 20%.

‘This is an insane effect.’

Although it could only be used three times a day, that wasn’t a drawback at all.

Especially the last effect.

‘This is the real deal.’

The treasure map of Kahku had also been obtained through this final effect.

Seong, therefore, had high expectations as he placed Destiny into his inventory.

There wasn’t a place to use it right now, but after reaching level 160 and opening a Legendary Random Box, he could probably make a good use of it.

After all, there were three boxes.

With that, Seong had obtained Kahku’s first and last treasure. He left the final storage behind, and as the treasure was claimed, the storage vanished as if it had fulfilled its purpose.

When Destiny disappeared, the structure must have crumbled as well.

Seong, now holding Destiny, thought, ‘Should I test Vampirism?’

He had only been focusing on the Blood Lord during the large-scale event, and had never had a chance to test Vampirism.

He was curious about how it worked—particularly the part where his body would change.

Seong was thinking this when Helena and Fiora alerted him.

“Seong, there’s a monster approaching.”

Indeed, there is.Seong turned to face the incoming monster.

It appeared almost immediately.

But then...

Crack, crack.

“Hmm...”

Seong made a disapproving noise as he looked at the monster. It was definitely not what he had expected.

The creature in front of him was a tree-like monster—the Corrupted Tree Beast of the labyrinth.

It looked like a giant ent, and Seong wondered if there was any blood to absorb.

He doubted there would be any.

As Seong pondered this, the tree beast stretched its branches toward him in an attempt to pierce him.

Whizzing!

With a simple movement, Seong evaded the attack.

Could Vampirism even work here?

Probably not.

“Seong, try it~”

Hearing Helena’s encouragement, Seong decided it wouldn’t hurt to try.

If it didn’t work, he could just think about it later.

He activated Vampirism.

[The target has no blood.]

As expected, the notification popped up.

So, it didn’t work?

But then, another message appeared.

[Instead of blood, you are absorbing the target’s essence.]

“...?”

It was an odd message, but as Seong looked at the tree beast, its branches began to wither, and a blood-red energy rose from it, which was then absorbed by Seong.

[You are absorbing the essence of the Corrupted Tree Beast.]

[Due to the effect of Vampirism, part of your body may change for 1 minute.]

[Your health increases by +30 for 1 minute.]

“...?”

The effect was unbelievable.

Though he had intended to test it, Seong wondered how his body would change.

Suddenly, various ideas came to mind, and as he acted on them, his left arm morphed into a branch.

With his new branch-like arm, he was able to shoot out branches, just like the tree beast had done to him.

“Bweeek!”

The tree beast, impaled by its own branch, writhed in pain, and with that, Helena and Fiora finished it off.

In no time, the monster disappeared, but Seong’s arm remained in its branch form.

When he tried to control it, the branch recoiled, and his hand returned to its normal shape.

‘Oh.’

It returned to normal, but there was still some time left. Seong could feel that it could turn back into a branch again.

This was the effect of Vampirism.

When the target lacked blood, it absorbed its essence instead.

Seong realized now that vampires were indeed tied to dark magic.

Draining skills.

Though the absorption of health and mana was relatively small, it wasn’t quite as powerful as the Abyssal Fear Lord’s abilities.

That was a bit disappointing, but the utility of the skill was excellent.

It was a good skill, one that could be used in many situations.

As Seong reflected on this, Helena approached with a grin.

“It’s more useful than I expected, huh?”

Seong nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, it’s actually more fun than I thought.”

It seemed like it would be interesting to use it against special races or other types of monsters. If not, he could always keep the blood of unique races and use it later for Vampirism—it was a versatile skill.

There were many ways it could be used.

But what should he do now?

“Where do we go now?”

“Hmm...”

Helena’s question left Seong unsure of what to do next.

Now that he had tested everything and obtained Kahku’s treasure, it was time to level up.

There were no quests that seemed fitting.

Since he had come to Pentamire, perhaps it was time to find a new quest?

As Seong was considering this, a ghost wandering the labyrinth made eye contact with him.

Hah!? You’re a distinguished guest! Could you possibly help me?The ghost, looking quite wealthy, caught Seong’s attention, and he exchanged glances with Helena and Fiora before looking back at the ghost.

What a strange coincidence.

“Sure.”

It seemed like just the right opportunity.

After the large-scale event ended, many people were feeling a bit disappointed.

Was it because the event had ended?

No, that wasn’t it.

Why isn’t the Demon King streaming this time? ㅠㅠㅠHonestly, these days, I only watch the Demon King’s streams or those from top single-rankers. Why doesn’t he stream more often? He probably got too big for his boots. Is it really okay for the Demon King to have that attitude?I miss the old days. What are you talking about? The Demon King has only just started. This is what it means to be a beginner.Since Seong’s streams had been missing, many were feeling disappointed.

They had become accustomed to the live broadcasts during the previous large-scale event, but there was no live stream this time.

It had been available before and then disappeared, so it was only natural for people to feel upset.

The community response echoed the same sentiment.

Despite taking an overwhelming first place, many wondered why there hadn’t been a broadcast.

Some speculated that Seong had reached the top through some sort of dubious means.

Right after the large-scale event ended, these rumors began to spread, so naturally, the atmosphere was heating up.

[Title: No Demon King Stream!!!]

[Author: CoolDealLove]

Wow, I saw the hidden raid boss being taken down by someone like Zine...

There are a few more videos, but I haven’t seen the rest yet.

I think they’re hunting ghosts or something, so I haven’t watched it yet.

How is it?

[Party Left: Honestly;;; it was amazing;;; but if he’d streamed, he would have made a fortune. Why didn’t he stream? I don’t get it.]

[CoolDealLove (author): Some subscribers might appreciate him not milking the ticket sales, which is a good mindset, but honestly, I’d let him take all my money if he streamed more.][LegendaryItemBuyer: Exactly ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Demon King, take my money, you fool!!!][OrcMaxLeveler: I completely agree ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Seriously, just make money!!!]While some people criticized other streamers for streaming too frequently and constantly taking ticket money, the issue with the Demon King’s stream was that it wasn’t frequent enough.

That’s how much people were eagerly waiting for Seong’s live streams.

Of course, watching edited videos was nice too.

They were clean and well-made.

But Seong’s live streams had a rawness and dark undertone that were incredible.

The contrast of darkness and turquoise light.

It felt like humanity was being invaded, sending a shiver down viewers’ spines.

That’s why everyone was so captivated by Seong.

[Title: So, what’s the Demon King up to now?]

[Author: SummonPet]

The large-scale event is over now.

There’s no content left to do except for the labyrinth, right?

Raid streams might feel repetitive.

What will come next?

That’s probably why he hasn’t been streaming much.

I think he’s avoiding showing repetitive things on stream and is just uploading videos instead?

[Stubbornly Ill: Even if it’s repetitive, just upload it ㅠㅠ.]

[HealsWell: I’d gladly watch it no matter how boring ㅠㅠㅠ.][PretendingToBeTank: But that’s a long-term loss.][ShieldedWarrior: Yeah, this is the right way to go. For longevity, it’s better to show up occasionally when things are getting stale.][CaughtLying: Holding my breath until the next stream, huh!]Despite the heated online responses, Seong’s streams remained unchanged.

The only thing left were questions and curiosity about what would come next.

In the meantime, there were rumors circulating in the internet community.

Some speculated that when the Demon King moved cities, the Overpalace branch manager would make a move.

Others said that if you wanted to find Seong, you should follow the Overpalace branch’s movements.

But, for the most part, these were just idle speculations.

There was no concrete information about Seong’s whereabouts.

Everyone was simply hoping for Seong to turn on a live stream soon.

While many were wondering about Seong’s whereabouts and what he was doing, Seong was busy talking to the ghost he had encountered in the Pentamire forest labyrinth.

After extracting the ghost’s memories, Seong learned about the ghost’s backstory and why it was wandering in the labyrinth.

Along with that, he gained some stat boosts.

[You have displayed abilities beyond your current stats using the ”Unknown Power.”]

[Wisdom +3, Intelligence +3 permanently increased.]

“Hm.”

After absorbing the memory, the ghost, no longer just any ghost but Vitor Moore’s ghost, began crying tearfully.

Sobs, I’m worried about my son, who is probably looking for me. As you can see, they eat our merchants.“Looks like it.”

My son will probably gamble everything to find me. He used to take such good care of me... Please, can you help him?Seong nodded in agreement.

It wasn’t a request he couldn’t fulfill.

He had nothing better to do.

Plus, it smelled like a quest was about to unfold, so there was no reason not to accept it.

When Seong accepted, Vitor’s ghost’s mouth wobbled, tears welling up again as he spoke.

Thank you so much. You’ve already seen my memories, so you can take all the things I’ve lost.“Thank you.”

Now, should Seong go fulfill Vitor’s request?

Vitor had been the former head of the largest merchant guild in Pentamire, the Moore Guild, and the current guild leader was his son, Jerod Moore.

Seong figured it wouldn’t be easy to find the guild leader, but it didn’t matter; he was determined.

As he wandered through the forest maze for a while, Vitor’s ghost’s memory led him to the location of the lost identity tag.

I found it, Seong! With Vitor’s memory, Seong soon located the identity tag.

Without hesitation, he headed straight for Pentamire to find the Moore Guild.

However, he didn’t meet Jerod Moore right away.

Instead, one of the merchants running the guild welcomed him.

“Well, it’s fortunate. We were just looking for mercenaries. Please join us, and we’ll give you the quest once all the mercenaries gather.”

“Got it.”

It seemed like a group quest, not a solo one.

Seong followed the merchant to the designated location, where several other players were already waiting.

A six-person party, a four-person party, and a seven-person party were gathered together, a total of 17 people.

When Seong, along with Helena and Fiora, joined, they made the number a perfect 20.

Although Helena and Fiora were technically his subordinates, they were somewhat confusing in terms of their identity due to a slight mind-inhibiting effect.

Usually, they would be considered more like NPC companions, so Seong considered them as such.

As Seong thought about this, he tried to sit at an empty table, but the leader of the four-person party approached him.

“Have we met somewhere before?”

The player asking seemed androgynous but had a quite pretty face. Seong had never seen her before.

She seemed familiar, but where from?

Curious, Seong tilted his head.

“Are you trying to hit on me?”

“No!!!”

“Huh? Embris, is that what you were doing!?”

“Embris is hitting on me!?”

“Well, I can see why...”

“No, I’m not!!!”
