The Game of a Legendary Genius Dark Mage

Last time, Seong had obtained the Hindel set through an item with a special connection.

Wondering if there might be something similar this time, he took a look at the three ”Random Boxes.”

[Random Box] x3

→ Legendary

→ A box that grants an item or skill with a special connection to the user.

→ All items obtained from this box are of Legendary grade.

”Hmm.”

Perhaps the items weren’t at the right level for him to receive, or maybe there were no items or skills with a special connection at this time.

Unfortunately, there was nothing like that.

Still, at least he could get a new Legendary item.

Should he be happy about that?

As he pondered whether to use the box to potentially gain another Legendary skill, a new message appeared for Seong.

[There is a connection available at level 160.]

[Would you like to use it now?]

”Wait, what?”

So that’s how it works—it tells you when a connection becomes available.

Currently, Seong’s level was 150.

That meant there was a connection that would activate when he reached level 160 and moved on to the next area.

Though he didn’t know what it would be, it seemed like it was a better choice than randomly drawing another Legendary skill right now.

”I’ll hold off for now.”

Since the items wouldn’t disappear if he didn’t use them, it made sense to wait. He hadn’t used the Blood Lord’s tome or the Overlord’s book yet either, so he figured there was no harm in saving those for later.

At the moment, he had just obtained the Blood Lord and Vampirism, so he wasn’t desperately in need of new skills.

With the event now over, Seong decided it was time to move on to a city.

Ideally, he’d travel quietly.

”You’re leaving, huh?”

The voice from behind startled him.

It was a familiar voice.

Seong turned around, and as expected, Belmor, the branch manager, was looking at him with a sorrowful expression.

Since he had finished what he needed to do in this city, leaving was only natural. But why did he look so down?

”Ahem, I’m planning to head to another city.”

Seong lowered his formality at Belmor’s insistence, though it still felt awkward, and a cough escaped his throat.

When Seong spoke, Belmor nodded and said quietly, ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) ”Thank you for staying in this city.”

”...I should be the one thanking you.”

”Ha ha, such words are the greatest honor of my life.”

Belmor’s words didn’t quite make sense, but Seong nodded in understanding. Belmor then bowed deeply, shouting, ”I hope you reach the peak! May you stay in good health until then!”

Belmor’s words were about reaching the extremes of Overlord.

Seong felt a little burdened by that but also thankful, before he moved on from Pentagrid to another city in the fifth region.

To be specific...

”I’m heading to Pentamire.”

Pentamire wasn’t far from Pentagrid, so Seong decided to head there.

The reason was simple.

There was a forest labyrinth there.

‘Kahku’s last storage is there.’

As Seong headed toward Pentamire, in the library of the Overpalace Pentagrid branch, a short man with glasses was returning several books.

Watching him, the librarian nodded after checking all the returned books.

He seemed to really love books and had read quite a lot during his time here.

”Barbaros, are there any books you’d like to borrow?”

”Oh, yes. I’ve read all but the duplicates.”

”...Understood. Thank you for all your time here.”

”Ah, thank you. I should be heading to the library in the next area. They say it’s not good to stay too long without leveling up...”

The librarian didn’t ask more questions after hearing Barbaros’ cryptic words. While she found it strange to see such an outsider read so many books, it wasn’t really her concern.

Barbaros left the Overpalace library and headed toward the portal that led to other areas or cities in the fifth region.

There, he passed by a woman with lush red hair and a young man, but he didn’t recognize them and continued on his way.

‘I hope the library in the sixth city is bigger,’ he thought, casually.

Pentamire, one of the cities in the fifth region, was a tranquil city nestled beside a breathtaking lake.

The city, with its walls for protection, was nonetheless remarkably natural compared to others.

It was famous for its forests nearby and the minimal construction of roads, allowing the beauty of the forest to remain undisturbed.

Some players even came here to relax, drawn by the peaceful atmosphere of the surroundings, and there were even users who, so enchanted by the scenery, never left the area.

Among this serene setting and stunning views, a party of four was emerging from the forest labyrinth and heading toward the city.

Since the large-scale event had just ended, the mood among the users was somewhat chaotic.

There were those checking the rewards they had earned, scouts trying to recruit noticeable players, and even villains plotting to ambush anyone who seemed to have received good rewards.

Various people were loitering around the labyrinth and the city.

Amidst this, a party of four quietly made their way out of the forest and toward the city.

“So, Embris, where are we headed? Back to Pentagrid?”

Embris shook his head at Menma’s question.

Everyone looked at Embris in confusion. Wasn’t the Demon King in Pentagrid right now?

If so, shouldn’t they be able to see him by heading there immediately?

That would be the simple thought, but Embris didn’t think it was that straightforward.

“If we think simply, yeah, but I’m sure the Demon King has already left there by now.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Look at us.”

“Huh?”

“Menma, you’re an idiot.”

“Shut up, Chako.”

As the two bickered, Embris spoke up.

“If you watch the Demon King’s pattern, he always seems to move quickly after doing something.”

“You’re more of a fan of the Demon King than I thought, Embris.”

At Usagi’s remark, Embris gave a small laugh and nodded.

There was no denying it. He really did admire the Demon King.

“After all, we’re both from the dark magic class. I use blood primarily as a vampire.”

“But you’re both in the Almighty tier now?”

“That too.”

Embris acknowledged Menma’s point, pondering what would happen if they met the Demon King.

Would they fight? Or could they become allies?

With so many possibilities, they said to each other:

“Anyway, when the Demon King moves, he’ll become famous no matter where he goes.”

As they passed through a plaza, a woman with luscious red hair brushed past them.

She seemed strangely familiar, though it was hard to tell who she was with two young men and a girl.

Embris didn’t pay much attention and continued speaking to his companions.

“Let’s wait for the rumors to spread. It won’t be too late to go then.”

“Sounds good. We shouldn’t rush.”

“We’ll need to level up to 160 quickly too.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

The other three agreed, and Embris nodded, feeling grateful. Now, while they waited for the Demon King’s next move, maybe they should focus on completing some quests for experience.

Embris began thinking about a previously met NPC to receive a quest.

But then, an uneasy thought struck.

‘They seemed so familiar...’

Although he tried to shake the feeling, it was hard to ignore.

‘Well, they’ve already passed by...’

‘Let’s focus on the quest first.’

 The Last Storage of Kahku.

Or more precisely, the first and last treasures of Kahku were stored here.

Seong, recalling Kahku’s memories after some time, entered the forest maze once again.

“This forest naturally creates a maze, which is kind of fun.”

”It does, doesn’t it?”Helena and Fiora agreed as they walked alongside Seong.

The way the forest created a maze was surprisingly fascinating. As they navigated through the maze, the view of a lake at the end was breathtaking—almost indescribably moving.

It wasn’t hard to understand why so many were captivated by Pentamire.

In any case, Seong was not heading to the lake itself but rather to the storage just before it.

Fortunately, unlike when Belmor had appeared earlier, the branch manager of Pentamire did not show up unexpectedly, though Seong knew it was always a possibility.

‘Better get there quickly.’

Seong aimed to reach Kahku’s final storage as fast as possible.

Though it was the last visit, he felt no regret.

‘Kahku’s greatest item is here.’

The items that had helped Kahku gather so many treasures up until now were here. This treasure, the core of Kahku’s origins, was stored in this place.

With that in mind, Seong hurried through the maze.

Perhaps because it was after the large-scale event, there weren’t as many people in the maze. The monsters were sparse as well, so Seong, Helena, and Fiora could deal with them easily and move forward quickly.

Soon, they reached their destination.

Kahku’s last storage.

Hidden behind thick shrubbery and not visible from the maze’s walls, this was definitely the place.

The corner, the mistletoe branches surrounding it, and the unique orange moss on the ground all matched perfectly.

When Seong reached out, the message appeared.

[Conditions met.]

[Unlocking the Hidden Piece: Kahku’s Last Storage.]

Seong quickly entered.

Kahku’s storage was unlike any other storage. There were no guardians, no traps.

Though hidden among the labyrinth, it was accessible only to users who knew Kahku’s name and met the conditions to open it.

As the door opened and Seong stepped inside, he saw an item placed delicately on a table, shining golden but also giving off an aura of ominous power—a die.

“This is...”

Seong murmured as he gazed at it.

‘This is the item that made Kahku the legendary treasure goblin.’

When Seong lifted the die, the message appeared.

[You have obtained the first and last treasure of Kahku: 『Destiny.』]

『Destiny』

→ Almighty

→ It is said that gods do not play dice.

→ However, the gods’ dice must exist.

→ Under the name of Destiny.

→ When Destiny is rolled, it adds or reduces probabilities in any probabilistic element according to the roll.

→ It can be applied to both oneself and others.

→ Usable up to three times per day.

→ Additionally, this item reveals unknown destinies, even ones the owner is unaware of.

The last effect applies while in the inventory.

When rolled in the air, the result is shown, and the die returns to the owner’s inventory.

“Wow.”

Finally, Seong had obtained Kahku’s first and last treasure.
