A New Life in Fairy Tail

Seeing the Muscle Angel land a hit, Sorano didn’t hesitate. She commanded the angel to attack again.

BANG!

The Muscle Angel delivered another heavy punch, striking Vidaldus just as he stumbled out of the wall.

Already injured from the previous hit, Vidaldus couldn’t dodge in time. He was smashed back into the wall with even greater force.

”Ice-Make: Great Ape!”

Ultear cast her spell, conjuring a massive ape made of ice.

The Ice Ape swung its giant fist, slamming it into Vidaldus, who was still pinned against the wall.

Vidaldus was struggling to free himself and had no chance to react.

CRASH!

Just as he managed to pry half his body out of the crater, Vidaldus was driven back in. This time, he was knocked completely unconscious, his body deeply embedded in the stone. Cracks spiderwebbed across the wall, and debris rained down.

His long hair fell away, revealing a bald head underneath. It turned out his hair was just a magic item, not his own growing ability.

”Phew...”

Seeing Vidaldus defeated, Ultear finally relaxed.

His magic had clearly been dangerous. Based on how it tried to invade her body, getting hit by it would have been disastrous for her and potentially the rest of the team. That was why she had attacked without mercy, not stopping until he was completely incapacitated.

With their enemy down, Ultear and Sorano walked over to Noah.

”Alright, we’re done here. How are Erza and Mira doing?” Sorano asked, looking toward the ongoing battle.

”Still fighting,” Noah replied, watching the trio clash.

”The enemy is strong,” Sorano commented, observing the intense exchange.

”Indeed. To achieve this level with swordsmanship alone is impressive,” Noah said, watching Trinity Raven’s captain, Ikaruga, wield her blade.

Suddenly, the Communication Lacrima in his pocket vibrated. Noah pulled it out and saw it was from Makarov. He answered immediately.

”The Council has confirmed the use of Etherion to attack the Tower of Heaven!” Makarov’s voice was grim.

”Master, what exactly happened?” Ultear couldn’t help but ask. Everyone gathered around to listen. Even Gray, supporting a dizzy Natsu with Happy trailing behind, walked over.

”Initially, the Council voted against it, 5 to 4. But then a councilor revealed that the Tower of Heaven is designed to resurrect the dead—specifically, the Black Wizard Zeref. He claimed the tower is controlled by his twin brother, Jellal, so he knows Jellal’s intentions.

”Hearing this, the Council voted again. This time, it passed 8 to 1. Yajima voted against it both times, but he couldn’t stop it,” Makarov sighed.

”Understandable. As soon as they hear someone wants to resurrect Zeref, they panic,” Ultear said gravely. Zeref was the most terrifying and evil figure in magical history. The number of atrocities linked to him was uncountable. It was no surprise the Council would go to any lengths to stop him.

”Yajima says you need to evacuate immediately. Etherion will fire in about 25 minutes.”

”That’s enough time,” Noah calculated. ”Enough to get everyone in the tower out.”

”Keep an eye on the time. Don’t cut it too close. Get as far away from the tower as possible. No one knows how large the blast radius will be,” Makarov warned anxiously.

”Understood. I’ll transport everyone to a safe island far away as quickly as possible.”

”Good. Stay safe.” Makarov gave a final warning before ending the call.

”So Etherion is really coming down,” Sorano sighed. Even though she knew Noah could get them out, the uncertainty had been stressful. Now that it was confirmed, she actually felt relieved. No more wondering—just wait for Noah to act.

”Phew...” Ultear let out a breath, sharing Sorano’s sentiment. The anticipation was worse than the reality.

”Uuu...” Wendy-kun and the younger girls huddled together, trembling. Lucy shivered beside them.

”Don’t worry. Once Erza and Mira finish their fight, I’ll send everyone away. We’ll be safe from Etherion,” Noah said, patting Wendy-kun’s head to comfort them. ”And it looks like their fight is almost over.”

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The sound of clashing steel rang out continuously. Erza, Mirajane, and Ikaruga moved across the battlefield in a blur, trading blows at high speed.

Ikaruga fought both Erza and Mirajane simultaneously, using her long sword to hold her own against two S-Class mages.

”Mujō no Tachi: Flash!”

Ikaruga swung her blade, unleashing incredibly fast slashes at both opponents at once.

Erza parried with her sword, while Mirajane used her demon claws to block the strike aimed at her.

CLANG!

After a rapid exchange, the three separated.

”She’s strong.”

Mirajane looked at her right hand. There was a tiny cut where she had blocked the attack, a small line of blood seeping out.

”Very strong.”

Erza’s sword was chipped in several places. Finally, unable to withstand the strain, it shattered.

”Let’s go! Requip: Heaven’s Wheel Armor!”

Erza switched armors instantly, summoning two fresh swords. She charged at Ikaruga.

Mirajane channeled more magic into her hands, strengthening her defense, and followed Erza.

Ikaruga stepped back with her left foot, hand resting on her hilt, watching them seriously.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The three clashed again, the sound of metal on metal filling the air.

Suddenly, Erza and Mirajane jumped back simultaneously.

”Heaven’s Wheel: Circle Sword!”

Dozens of swords appeared around Erza, spinning in a circle before flying at Ikaruga.

”Evil Spark!”

Mirajane threw dozens of dark magic spheres at Ikaruga.

”Mujō no Tachi: Yasha Flash!”

Ikaruga crouched slightly, her expression calm. Suddenly, sword light erupted in front of her, slashing at both Erza’s swords and Mirajane’s spheres.

CLANG!

This time, it wasn’t the sound of deflection, but of Erza’s swords being shattered.

Simultaneously, Mirajane’s dark spheres were sliced in half.

BOOM!

The destabilized magic exploded, filling the area with smoke and dust.

The wind quickly cleared the smoke, revealing Ikaruga sheathing her sword.

Suddenly, Ikaruga drew her sword again with blinding speed, launching wave after wave of slash attacks at Erza and Mirajane.

Erza met the attacks with her swords, while Mirajane used her claws.

”Mujō no Tachi: Garuda Flame!”

Ikaruga stepped forward and swung her sword. A massive burst of fire erupted from the blade, engulfing Erza and Mirajane.

”Requip: Flame Empress Armor!”

Erza switched armors instantly, using the Flame Empress’s fire resistance to nullify the attack.

”Super Vile Flash!”

Mirajane thrust her hands forward, firing a concentrated beam of magic.

BOOM!

The attacks collided in mid-air, causing an explosion that obscured vision once more.

”Heaven’s Wheel: Blumenblatt!”

Erza burst through the smoke, surrounded by dozens of swords, charging at Ikaruga.

”Mujō no Tachi: Multiple Flash!”

Seeing Erza close in, Ikaruga’s hand blurred on her hilt. Countless invisible slashes flew toward Erza.

CLANG! CLANG!

The swords flying around Erza were cut down one by one. Erza engaged Ikaruga in close combat, their movements too fast for most to follow.

”Hah!”

Mirajane joined the fray, attacking Ikaruga alongside Erza.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The dense sound of combat echoed.

Facing the combined might of Erza and Mirajane, Ikaruga began to lose ground. Each of them was as strong as she was; fighting both was overwhelming. The fact that she had lasted this long was a testament to her skill.

Ikaruga shattered one of Erza’s swords, but Erza immediately requipped another. Her attacks on Mirajane were blocked by the demon claws, which were now reinforced with enough magic to shrug off standard slashes.

Under the relentless assault, Ikaruga found no time to charge up her more powerful techniques.
