A New Life in Fairy Tail

Since we have agreed, let us prepare to set out.

Erza had already stowed away the cart of beach luggage she had been pulling. Her beachwear was replaced by her usual suit of armor through her Requip magic.

By the way, have you spoken to the Master about this? Mirajane asked Noah.

We will head out first. I will handle the rest with Gramps, Noah replied.

A Thought Projection stepped out from Noah’s body and walked toward Makarov.

That is good. Let us hurry then! Sorano said to Noah.

Mhm.

Noah raised his right hand, activating Teleportation. In an instant, the group vanished from the spot.

At the same time, Noah’s Thought Projection approached Makarov to explain the situation.

The R-System, the Tower of Heaven? Since you have already decided to destroy it, I will inform the Council, Makarov said after a moment of reflection. I remember you and Laxus helped destroy the other towers years ago.

Indeed. Laxus and I assisted the Council back then. I didn’t expect so many years to pass so quickly, the projection mused. He then added, I will handle the guild affairs for now while we wait for news from the Council.

Noah’s Thought Projection went behind the counter and began processing the guild paperwork that Mirajane had left unfinished. Makarov, meanwhile, began contacting the Council via Communication Lacrima.

On the other side, Noah and the group appeared on a stretch of beach.

Huh? Noah, weren’t you supposed to take us directly to the Tower of Heaven? Sorano looked around after they landed but saw no tower-like structures. Given the name, she naturally expected a tall building. Instead, there was only the vast ocean, coconut trees on the sand, tourists in swimwear in the distance, and rows of speedboats floating near the shore.

This is Akane Beach, where we originally planned to vacation, Noah explained to everyone. According to my information, the Tower of Heaven is located out at sea and is protected. We need to take a boat to the vicinity and search for it.

W-Wait a minute! A boat? Natsu’s face immediately turned pale at the mention of a vessel. He clutched his mouth, looking like he was about to vomit.

Natsu is still as terrified of transportation as ever, Happy sighed, spreading his paws helplessly.

How pathetic, Carla muttered, watching Natsu turn green before they had even stepped onto a boat.

Natsu-kun, I can use Troia to enhance your sense of balance and treat your motion sickness, Wendy-kun offered, seeing his suffering.

Really? Please, heal me! Natsu rushed to Wendy-kun, his eyes sparkling with hope.

Natsu, Wendy-kun’s healing has a time limit. Continuous use will make the effect weaken significantly. It’s better to save it for a critical moment, Noah intervened.

Noah-kun is right, Wendy-kun confirmed.

Ugh... Natsu slumped in disappointment. They were only starting a search at sea; there was no telling how long it would take. It wasn’t worth wasting the healing now.

Actually, I should tell you a sad truth, Wendy-kun, Noah said, looking at her with a serious expression.

W-What is it, Noah-kun? Don’t scare me like that, Wendy-kun squeaked, taking two steps back.

The others looked over curiously. Yukino-kun, Meredy-kun, and Carla were especially tense.

Natsu’s motion sickness isn’t an isolated case. All Dragon Slayers develop this symptom once their strength reaches a certain level.

Wendy-kun stared in disbelief. Carla quickly asked, Does that mean Wendy-kun will be like that too?

Yes. Wendy-kun’s current strength isn’t high enough yet, which is why she doesn’t have it. Once she grows stronger, she will likely develop the same symptoms as Natsu, Noah confirmed.

What should I do? Yukino-kun, Carla, Meredy-kun... I’m going to be motion-sick like Natsu-kun?! Wendy-kun panicked, turning to her friends for help. She had seen how much Natsu suffered; the thought of losing her ability to function near any vehicle was terrifying.

Can’t you use Sky Magic to treat your own balance? Yukino-kun suggested.

I can’t. It has a duration limit, and if I’m already dizzy, I might not be able to cast spells at all, just like Natsu-kun, Wendy-kun pointed out.

The Light Magic Noah taught me has spells for balance, but like your Sky Magic, they have a duration. Overuse will reduce their effectiveness, Meredy-kun added.

Then I’ll rely on you if it comes to that, Meredy-kun! Wendy-kun grabbed Meredy-kun’s hands. Meredy-kun squeezed back with a smile.

Of course. We’re friends and teammates. I’ll help you.

Mhm! Wendy-kun beamed.

There is no permanent cure for now, Noah spoke up, but besides healing magic, there is a temporary solution that works much better than standard treatment.

Wendy-kun and the others looked at him eagerly. Natsu was practically vibrating with excitement.

Wendy-kun, watch closely.

Noah raised his hand, and a magic circle appeared beneath Natsu’s feet.

Enchantment: Balance Enhancement!

The circle dissipated. Natsu jumped a few times and punched the air.

Noah, I don’t feel anything.

You aren’t on a vehicle yet, of course you don’t feel anything, Noah said dryly. He then addressed the group, I’ll go rent the speedboats. Wait here.

Ultear offered to go with him, and the two headed toward the rental stall. They returned shortly with two speedboats.

I rented two. Let’s split up, Noah said.

Since the boats weren’t very large, they had to divide the group. Noah, Erza, Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and Happy boarded the first boat. Ultear, Mirajane, Sorano, Yukino-kun, Wendy-kun, Meredy-kun, and Carla took the second.

Whoa! It really works! I feel great! Once on the boat, Natsu realized he wasn’t nauseous at all. He began running around the deck in excitement.

Stop moving! You’re going to flip the boat! Gray yelled. The boat was rocking dangerously under Natsu’s frantic movements. Natsu ignored him, continuing his happy laps.

WHAM!

Erza delivered a swift punch, sending Natsu to his knees clutching his stomach.

Much quieter now, Gray said with satisfaction. He had wanted to hit Natsu himself, but fighting on the small boat would have resulted in both of them being beaten by Erza. Waiting for her to do it was far more efficient.

Wendy-kun, did you see? Your Enchantment magic is just as vital as your Dragon Slayer magic, Noah said to the neighboring boat. As long as you get stronger and master Enchantment, you can apply it just like I did. The effect and duration depend on your skill; if done well, it can last from minutes to days. Just use it before boarding any transport.

Yes! Noah-kun, I will work hard! Wendy-kun declared, clenching her fists.

That was awesome! Noah, teach me that magic! Natsu begged, having recovered from Erza’s blow.

It requires a high level of mastery in Enchantment, but you can try learning it when we get back, Noah didn’t refuse. If Natsu had a knack for it, it would cover his biggest weakness.

It’s a promise! Teach me Enchantment magic as soon as we’re home! Natsu cheered.

Sit tight, we’re heading out.

Noah and Ultear started their respective engines and pulled away from the shore.

Which way? Ultear asked.

Noah opened his Archive and checked the map. Southeast. Follow me.

The boats sped across the water, but after a while, Noah shook his head. This is too slow.

This is the top speed for these boats, Erza noted, seeing that Noah had the throttle wide open.

Hmm... let me fix that.

Noah slowed the boats down until they came to a halt in the middle of the ocean.
