Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 14 - 14: Blue-grade Furniture

The furnace is taller than Xu Xin, at least two and a half meters high. The stone furnace looks quite industrial. Xu Xin added a piece of white wood into the furnace. The wood didnʼt ignite, but he got a prompt:

[Remaining burn time: 5 minutes]

A piece of white wood can only burn for 5 minutes, so what about green?

Xu Xin added another piece of wood (green) into the furnace.

[Remaining burn time: 2 hours and 35 minutes]

Oh, so much? 2 hours and 35 minutes, which is 155 minutes. Subtracting the 5 minutes from the white wood, itʼs a total of 150 minutes, 30 times the burn time of white wood!

Xu Xin tossed 20 of the 60 green iron ores he had traded into the upper layer. Instantly, the fire blazed up, a wave of heat rushing out, quickly turning the entire furnace red hot.

[Smelting iron block time: 2 hours]

Letting the furnace burn on its own, Xu Xin returned to the third level. The video call was still ongoing, and Li Wenxi was still sitting on the bed in a daze. When she saw Xu Xin return, she immediately smiled and said, ”Did you finish the furnace?”

”Yes.” Xu Xin nodded.

”Let me tell you, it takes five iron ores to make one iron block, and it actually takes half an hour to burn one. This furnaceʼs efficiency is too low!”

Hmm? So, does that mean those 20 iron ores can produce 4 iron blocks? Thatʼs acceptable.

”Didnʼt you go out this afternoon?” Xu Xin asked.

”Uh... I took a walk but didnʼt go far. There arenʼt many trees around, but there are quite a few rocks. I canʼt tell which ones are high-grade, so I just took a few random ones and came back. Unfortunately, there wasnʼt anything good,” Li Wenxi said with a shrug, and then she looked at Xu Xin with anticipation, ”Hey, Xu Xin, Brother Xin, are you selling your blue wood? Share some with me, this bed is really terrible!”

Saying that, Li Wenxi patted the bed under her, and it creaked.

Xu Xin had shown her the blue wood earlier intending to sell it to her. After all, itʼs essential to secure resources when youʼre dealing with a wealthy family: ”Sure, how many do you want?”

Li Wenxiʼs eyes lit up: ”Do you have a lot?”

”Not much,” Xu Xin shrugged, ”I can give you up to three pieces.”

”Alright, alright! Still the same price, Iʼll trade you 60 pieces of green resources for three pieces of blue wood!”

Based on the burn time of the wood just now, the burn time of green-quality wood is 30 times that of white-quality wood. In addition, green-quality resources have functions that white-quality doesnʼt have. Trading one piece of green wood for 40-50 pieces of white wood wouldnʼt be a problem; a blue resource is definitely worth more than 20 green resources.

Trading with Li Wenxi didnʼt matter much, as he had previously exchanged using a 20-to-1 ratio for blue stones, but if he were to list it on the trading platform, heʼd definitely set an appropriate price.

However, he wasnʼt lacking green resources at the moment, so he said, ”How many blue iron ores do you have left? I want to trade ore at a one-to-one ratio, oh, and Iʼd like a bit more blue stone.”

Li Wenxi was very decisive and directly initiated a trade.

[The other party initiated a trade with you, exchanging iron ore (blue) *3, stone block (blue) *2 for wood (blue) *5]

After Xu Xin agreed, the two exchanged a few more words and then ended the video call. On the other side, she was probably eager to update her furniture, as sleeping on this bed was indeed uncomfortable.

Xu Xin didnʼt idle either. He immediately dismantled the old broken bed and used a piece of blue wood to make a new bed.

To his surprise, the original wooden bed was made with white wood, but this time, the default materials were green wood plus one piece of blue wood.

[Do you want to use green wood *9 and blue wood *1 to make a wooden bed?]

9 pieces of green wood? Xu Xin chose yes.

A bed that looked much more advanced than the original appeared before him.

[Wooden Bed (Blue): A bed crafted from high-grade wood, emitting a unique fragrance of high-grade wood, can improve sleep and accelerate the recovery of mental and physical energy, but it may cause one to sleep in due to its comfort.]

It was still a hard wooden bed without sheets or quilts, but Xu Xin was startled by the blue quality. He immediately checked the synthesis list, which still had no crafting method, only the original wood bed recipe requiring 10 pieces of white wood to make a wooden bed.

”Could it be that these recipes are basic, and using higher-grade materials can produce more advanced tools?”

Xu Xin originally had 12 pieces of blue wood, traded 5 to Li Wenxi, used 1, so he still had 6 pieces left, which was plenty. Plus, he now had a fertile soil that could continuously produce blue-grade plant resources, so he wasnʼt being frugal either.

[Reclining Chair (Blue): A chair crafted from high-grade wood, conforms to the human bodyʼs curves, sitting on it slowly restores stamina and spirit, and increases crafting success rate.]

[Dining Table (Blue): A dining table crafted from high-grade wood. Eating near the dining table makes the food more delicious and enhances the effects of the food.]

The effects of the reclining chair and dining table made Xu Xin smile.

This reclining chair can increase crafting success rate. Although there are currently no crafting methods with failure probabilities in his crafting list, these are just the most basic crafting methods provided by the treehouse and synthesis table. Based on his experience with games, there must be things that require crafting blueprints that can have a chance of failure, and by then, this blue-quality chair will come in handy.

As for the dining table, itʼs even more delightful. Xu Xin immediately took out a blue-grade red berry, which provides two hours of night vision. Now, itʼs gradually getting darker outside, with not much time left before the newbie protection period ends. Xu Xin wants to do some things in this last bit of safe time, even if itʼs just chopping wood.

Xu Xin sat on the reclining chair, by the dining table, and ate a regular apple and two regular oranges as dinner, then ate the large red berry (blue).

After eating it, Xu Xinʼs vision brightened, and the view outside, which had dimmed, appeared clearly in his sight again.

”3 hours, huh?” Xu Xin received the information from his body, realizing that the effect of the large red berry increased from the original 2 hours to 3 hours.

A full 50% increase in effect.

Moreover, Xu Xin faintly felt a sense of fullness. Just an apple and two oranges, which usually only stopped him from being hungry—because he had a problem of feeling sleepy when too full, so he generally wouldnʼt eat too much when there were important matters—but this time he actually felt full.

This dining table not only enhances the special effects of blue food but also amplifies the basic effect of food, providing energy. This indirectly means his food has increased by half!

This dining table is truly a good thing!
