A Sect from a Spirit Vein

Chapter 131: Chapter 112: Elder Assembly (Part 2)

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the hall was delighted, even Guh Niqiang raised an eyebrow.

Six inches of Spiritual Root—truly exceptional!

Lu Qian naturally knew the importance of the spiritual root length, as he himself had a five-inch spiritual root. Generally, a person’s spiritual root is only three inches long. The longer the spiritual root, the more spiritual power it can store, which is advantageous whether in battle or in daily life and work.

Unexpectedly, these two ordinary Three Spirit Roots have such outstanding lengths. For a regular Three Spirit Root, as long as the sect can fully nurture them, reaching Qi Cultivation Perfection is absolutely possible. Once they encounter personal fortune, comprehend the Dao Rhyme, and engrave the Dao Pattern, they can break into Foundation Establishment. Of course, ninety-nine out of a hundred people fell at this final step.

Now that these two Three Spirit Roots have an advantage in spiritual root length, their success rate in breaking into Foundation Establishment is naturally greater. In this light, they are worth focusing on for cultivation.

As the introduction continued, one of these Three Spirit Roots was Li Da with a spiritual root of five inches and five-tenths, and the other was the seemingly daft Wang Shitou, with a six-inch spiritual root!

Everyone’s astonished gaze was focused on Wang Shitou, but the child didn’t understand what was happening and asked dumbfoundedly, ”Immortal Grandpa, Immortal Granny, why is everyone looking at me?”

The other children were also half-understanding, but Li Da’s face blushed slightly as he clenched his fists.

What? My talent isn’t the best? This silly Wang Shitou is actually stronger than me? How could this be!

Lu Qian observed the children’s expressions and softly said, ”The spiritual root is merely an innate aptitude, not something anyone can control, and there’s no need to overthink it. Once you step onto the path of cultivation and begin your journey, how high you can reach is inseparable from your personal effort and opportunities. Since you’re here at Yunshan Sect, you’re much better off than those struggling loose cultivators outside, and your cultivation path is much smoother... In short, as long as you work diligently, you will definitely gain rewards.”

He then smiled at Wang Shitou and said, ”Wang Shitou, your name is a bit plain, not quite resonant enough for a cultivator’s title. May I give you a new name?”

Wang Shitou nodded: ”My mother told me when I left that whatever the Immortal says goes. Even if the Immortal wants to beat me to death, I should obediently lie down.”

Lu Qian laughed: ”Why would I want to beat you for no reason? You’re too simple and honest, which could lead to loss in the future. I’ll change your name to Wang Ruoyu, meaning ’great wisdom appears foolish,’ okay?”

”Ah?” The former Wang Shitou, now Wang Ruoyu, opened his mouth wide, ”Great wisdom, great wisdom... what does ’appears foolish’ mean?”

Jiang Baitao exclaimed from the side: ”It means seeming foolish on the outside, but actually being quite smart. Hopefully, you’ll be smarter in the future.”

Wang Ruoyu laughed naively and scratched his head, ”My mother says I’m foolish too. That’s wonderful; the Immortal Grandpa gave me a new name, so I must become smarter. But why not just call me Wang Clever?”

Li Da lowered his head and listened quietly, with a hint of resentment in his eyes. Why did this Wang Shitou have such luck! The Immortal personally changed his name, and everyone’s attention was on him. I’m much better than him, so just because my spiritual root is five-tenths shorter, I must be surpassed by him?

No, esteemed Immortals, please watch and see. In the future, you will understand that I am the most excellent!

Lu Qian saw that these little ones were mostly ignorant and guessed they wouldn’t understand if he spoke more, so he said, ”Alright, take them down to rest for now. Get familiar with the environment these two days. Everything has been prepared, and on October 12, three days from now, I plan to hold the initiation ceremony to officially admit these spirit seeds and the new disciples from the mountain.”

Tan Hong was slightly surprised at this. He initially thought Lu Qian had called these spirit seeds to the hall to directly admit them. It turns out Lu Qian only wanted to meet them first and had other plans. However, this was good too, as there were quite a few former Zhou Family, external-name cultivators. Holding an initiation ceremony is more grandiose and easier to win their loyalty.

At that moment, a disciple waiting nearby stepped forward to lead the children away.

Another disciple came forward and presented each person in the hall with a jade scroll.

Seeing the curious looks directed at him, Lu Qian’s expression became a little more serious: ”Fellow sect members, we are now holding the first Elder Council meeting of the Yunshan Sect. The agenda for this meeting has three items. First, officially appoint our sect’s elders and stewards. Second, discuss and confirm our sect’s new systems. Third, discuss the work plan for the next steps.”

”The draft of Yunshan Sect’s new system is in the jade scroll before you. Please take a look, beginning with the ’Yunshan Sect Elder Council Work System’ and the ’Yunshan Sect Disciples’ Education and Cultivation System.’”

Several people affixed the jade scrolls to their foreheads and read them carefully, some were surprised, and others were delighted.

The sect will establish nine elders, each responsible for different affairs within the sect. The Elder Council is the highest authority beneath the Sect Leader. So, does this mean that Lu Qian’s first agenda item is to appoint these nine elders?

Transmission Elder, Internal Affairs Elder, Business Elder, Reward Elder, Punishment Elder, Inspector Elder, Foreign Affairs Elder, Conquest Elder, and Security Elder.

Which role will I be assigned?

Zhang Lemei was the most delighted. She quickly straightened her back, and the dissatisfaction from being separated from Xiaoyunxing vanished.

However, there are nine elder positions, and there are only a few of us here. How will this be handled?

Lu Qian looked around and spoke loudly: ”Fellow sect members, since there are no objections, I will now appoint the elders for our sect.”

”Appoint Jiang Qingfeng as Internal Affairs Elder, also serving as Business Elder and Reward Elder.”

Qingfeng stood up and responded in a deep voice.

”Appoint Tan Hong as Punishment Elder, also serving as Transmission Elder.”

Tan Hong bowed and responded loudly.

”Appoint Zhang Lemei as Security Elder.”

Zhang Lemei hesitantly stood up. Why was she only given the position of Security Elder while others held multiple roles?

Lu Qian smiled and explained: ”Senior Sister Zhang, please don’t overthink. If I give you too much work, how will you have time to accompany your son as he grows? The role of Security Elder only requires overseeing the region’s security, which is relatively light. Once Yunxing grows up, if you have the time, you can take on more responsibilities.”

Thinking of the crying Yunxing, who wasn’t close to her, Zhang Lemei’s heart softened. Lu Qian’s words made sense; this way, she could properly raise Yunxing.

So she also bowed and accepted the appointment.

”The roles of Inspector Elder, Foreign Affairs Elder, and Conquest Elder are vacant for now, and I will temporarily take over these responsibilities.”

Seeing no objections from anyone, Lu Qian breathed a sigh of relief. He had considered this arrangement for a long time.

Zhang Lemei’s fiery nature and pettiness were not ideally suited for elder roles.

However, she is loyal and steadfast as an Elder Yunshan, and there is a shortage of hands, so an elder position must be given, especially considering Tan Hong’s feelings. The role of Security Elder is the most suitable one she can handle.

Tan Hong is calm and persistent, serious and responsible, with a strong sense of the bigger picture. Reward and punishment responsibilities are suitable, but combining these roles would give too much power to one person, hence the separation, with Qingfeng handling rewards and Tan Hong handling punishments.

The role of Transmission Elder ideally suited Qingfeng too, but he was already in charge of three elder roles, so there was no way he could also take on being Transmission Elder.

Thus, Tan Hong took on the role as well. He has been cultivating at the seventh layer of Qi Cultivation for many years and should breakthrough to Late-Stage Qi Cultivation within a few years. Despite having a less superior Spiritual Root, he has deep experience with Early and Mid-Stage Qi Cultivation.

As a Transmission Elder, he can teach, especially the early-stage Qi Cultivation disciples. Furthermore, I can always intervene to correct any deviations.

After all, this is just a temporary arrangement, and when excellent disciples mature, the roles can be passed on.
