A Sect from a Spirit Vein

Chapter 124: Chapter 109: New Yun Mountain System

Lu Qian inquired further about the business operations of the two sects. These two Qi Cultivation minor sects didn’t have any special ventures; they simply grew some spirit plants, produced elixirs and talismans, or sent disciples on various tasks. Managing to save a thousand spirit stones a year would be considered top-tier.

According to tradition, half of this would be paid as an annual tribute. However, the population of the two sects was now dwindling, and their mountain gates were still being rebuilt, making their income even less.

Lu Qian pondered briefly and remained silent.

The sect leaders of the two sects knelt on the ground, worried that the small tribute might displease Lu Qian. The overwhelming might of the Duo Chao Geng Metal Divine Sword was still fresh in their minds. They knew that if Lu Qian wished, he could destroy both sects at any time, which filled their hearts with fear.

Lu Qian suddenly smiled.

”Never mind, I am not a tyrannical sect leader. As long as you put in effort, there will be benefits. I will exempt you from the tribute for three years. If there are merits in the future, there will naturally be rewards.”

Xuu and Chen were astounded and overjoyed upon hearing this. They kowtowed deeply, hearts full of gratitude, and flattered him profusely.

Gu Nishang found it strange. Why exempt the tribute when they had clearly won? She recalled the strange words Lu Qian had spoken earlier about advancing and retreating, and felt dizzy and sleepy.

However, the story of Gou Jian was quite interesting. She hadn’t heard it before and thought she might have him tell more next time.

With kindness and awe combined, at least for now, the two sect leaders were sincerely convinced by Lu Qian as their new Sect Leader.

On October 4th, the 363rd year of Jia Shen, Qingli Mountain and Liuhua Valley formally signed a vassal agreement, becoming vassal sects of the Yunshan Sect, and promised in the agreement that Lu Qian could mobilize any cultivators from both sects at any time.

This agreement was made in triplicate, and after signing, the Yunshan Sect’s copy was carefully safeguarded by Jiang Qingfeng, who regarded this as the beginning of the sect’s revival.

Had Senior Brother Tan and Senior Sister Zhang been present, who knows how happy they might be?

Formalizing the vassal status, Lu Qian then instructed to host a banquet. Gu Nishang couldn’t sit still, and headed straight to the Spirit Vein location. But once this cold Foundation Establishment Feather Scholar left, the sect leaders felt the pressure lighten and their bodies relaxed, making the atmosphere more pleasant.

The banquet lasted till evening, with the clinking of glasses, exchanging cups, and gradually, the few of them became more familiar. Xuu and Chen increasingly felt that Lu Qian was indeed not a cruel sect leader and had a better expectation for their future.

Lu Qian asked Jiang Qingfeng to escort the sect leaders out of the mountain gate. He briefly adjusted his breathing, dispelled the alcohol from his body, changed into clean clothes, and then sent a disciple to invite Gu Nishang and Master Xuan Ji to the lounge in his courtyard, where the three sat together to discuss the new system of the Yunshan Sect.

While it was called a joint discussion, Lu Qian was primarily the one speaking.

He started by listing the old regulations of the Yunshan Sect one by one, and then asked Gu Nishang to review them, considering the laws of the Danxia Sect, and pointing out any inappropriate aspects.

This left Fairy Nishang puzzled as she furrowed her brows while staring at the long document written by Lu Qian. After a while, she felt as if the words were hand in hand, spinning around and swaying as if dancing.

”Hmm...” Gu Nishang lightly rested her smooth, fair chin on her hand, extended her delicate index finger towards her full red lips, blinked her captivating phoenix eyes, and tilted her head to survey the manuscript, her high ponytail slightly drooping, revealing her gracefully curved neckline.

Who had ever seen Gu Nishang with such a charmingly innocent expression! Lu Qian felt like a heavy hammer struck his heart, and he quickly glanced down, reciting silently, ”Red Powder Skull, Skull Red Powder, a two-eight beauty melts like butter, sword at the waist cleaves foolish men...”

Guilt, guilt, a monster, a monster...

If this Fairy Nishang didn’t go crazy, didn’t hit people, and didn’t wear a cold expression, she was actually quite adorable.

After pondering for a while, Gu Nishang finally blurted out a sentence: ”Lu Qian, you made a spelling mistake here.”

Lu Qian, filled with anticipation, nearly slipped to the ground. Never mind, never mind, I was mistaken after all.

Lu Qian switched his angle and straightforwardly asked, ”When you were at the Danxia Sect, which regulations did you find particularly unreasonable?”

This lit up Gu Nishang’s eyes, and she began to list various grievances without hesitation.

Though Lu Qian listened for a long time, most of it was complaints like ”No fighting allowed” and ”No bullying fellow disciples,” which left Lu Qian scratching his head in exasperation. Yet, there were indeed a few points of reference-worthy merit that he then adjusted within the Yunshan Sect’s old regulations.

Following this, Lu Qian voiced his thoughts: ”The sect system fundamentally has three critical parts. The first is the disciplinary regulations of the sect. Commonly known as the sect rules, these detail what can and cannot be done within the sect. Everyone from me to all disciples is bound by them. These are the foundation for sect order and the biggest difference between our righteous sects and the demonic cultivators.”

”The second is the disciple training and selection system. It details the hierarchical divisions among disciples, their rights and duties, how education and training are carried out, and how to promote the sect’s ranks. This is executed uniformly regardless of new or old members. Disciples are the hope of the sect, crucial for ensuring the sect’s development.”

”The third is the sect’s power operation mechanism. It details how the highest authority body of the sect is formed, how various affairs of the sect are handled, including the election and emergence of elders and sect leaders. This guarantees the smooth operation of the sect.”
