Berserk God of War

Chapter 1068: Chapter 1068: Stirring Up Trouble, Refusing to Confess

Thus, Jin Liwu slowly began to explain.

As for the Yang Family elder’s secret sword strike and Yao Yulou’s sudden appearance, he had no idea how to explain it.

And after Jin Liwu finished his explanation, Duanmu Chun stared at Sikong Jing with extreme shock.

This kid suddenly reached the Reverse Soul Fifth Realm, and then directly killed the Dream Stealing Captain with this realm, followed by a life-and-death duel with Wan Tonghui, East Dominator’s strongest captain.

And damn it, he won in a head-on battle.

At least for now, Sikong Jing is the victor; Wan Tonghui’s hand is a bloody mess, and there’s no way he can win anymore.

Gulp…

Thinking of this, Duanmu Chun couldn’t help but secretly swallow his saliva. Wan Tonghui had a Fifth Grade Battle Body paired with the Peak of Martial Combat, while Sikong Jing had nothing—he just opened his Spiritual Platform Sea of Consciousness early at most.

How could he possibly win? How did he win?

At that moment, Yao Yulou interrupted Duanmu Chun’s thoughts, saying, “The Great Dominator Technique, no matter how incomparable Brother Sikong may seem, the life-and-death battle was something Wan Tonghui agreed to himself; the Yang Family elder had absolutely no reason to interfere.”

With these words, the expressions of all the Yang Family members shifted, especially those who were unaware of the truth.

Yao Yulou’s statement was indisputable.

Yet still, a member of the Yang Family stood up and said loudly, “It’s someone’s engagement banquet; what on earth does it mean for him to come and start a life-and-death duel?”

This was indeed a reason; it was somewhat disrespectful.

However, Yao Yulou chuckled disdainfully and retorted, “Challenging someone during an engagement banquet indeed isn’t proper, but why didn’t Wan Tonghui refuse? He could have plainly declined, couldn’t he?”

With these words, the Yang Family members fell silent again.

They each looked at the pale-faced Wan Tonghui; why did he agree in an engagement banquet setting unsuitable for a duel?

Wan Tonghui’s face turned extremely pale, as he realized, upon seeing Yao Yulou arrive, that he was utterly doomed.

As for why he didn’t refuse, dare he refuse?

If he refused, Sikong Jing would bring up the kidnapping. At that time, the life-and-death battle had a chance to kill Sikong Jing to prevent him from speaking again; how could he refuse?

Had it not been for the meddling by the Dream Stealing Captain and Jin Liwu, the life-and-death battle would have occurred even earlier.

“Because Wan Tonghui dared not refuse.”

Seeing Wan Tonghui silent, Yao Yulou broke the quietude again.

And then he looked towards Duanmu Chun, slowly saying, “What’s even more perplexing is, we can understand why the Yang Family might intervene to stop Brother Sikong from killing Wan Tonghui, but why disguise it as the aura of the Shiyu Commerce?”

“And having an Emperor Martial Stage elder intervene, isn’t that too much of a fuss?”

As his voice fell, Yang Zhi and those aware of the truth showed flickering cold lights in their eyes.

The answer to these questions was precisely: to masquerade as a retaliatory act by the Shiyu Commerce and eliminate the East Plain’s Little Beast.

Duanmu Chun’s body slightly trembled as various analyses flashed through his mind.

Ultimately, he realized, Sikong Jing came to challenge Wan Tonghui precisely to force him into battle using the kidnapping, but also to escalate matters to a point where no one could secretly maneuver.

This meant that no one could maneuver Wan Tonghui to be innocent…

On Yang Zhi’s side, after receiving a notification from Li Feng, they believed Sikong Jing might have evidence. Therefore, they wanted to eliminate him and pin the blame on the Shiyu Commerce, whose conscience was guilty.

This was also the reason Duanmu Chun previously did not allow anyone to notify Yang Zhi beforehand.

Beyond the risk of Yang Zhi fabricating alibis for Wan Tonghui, there was also the fear that Yang Zhi might destroy any possible evidence, rendering action against Wan Tonghui impossible, which could provoke Yao Yulou’s anger.

As seen, eliminating Sikong Jing, who might be a witness, could exonerate Wan Tonghui of kidnapping.

As for Yao Yulou, he likely knew Sikong Jing would come to the Yang Family to kill Wan Tonghui.

He intentionally did not inform us at Wuming Manor to expose Wan Tonghui’s crime in person, thus ensuring nothing could be maneuvered secretly.

Both sides had their motives, but the one feeling the worst was my Great Dominator Technique. Now that Sikong Jing stirred things up, everything had to be handled openly.

In essence, Sikong Jing had stirred things up to the point where I had to choose between siding with Yao Yulou or Yang Zhi.

As Duanmu Chun’s mind was in turmoil, the Yang Family elder who had been beaten severely by Yao Yulou jumped out, yelling, “What a fuss over nothing, this punk clearly came to make trouble at our Yang Family, causing a ruckus at the engagement banquet, of course, he should be killed!”

As his words fell, no one paid him any heed.

The issue was no longer merely creating a ruckus, but had escalated into a kidnapping involving Jiang Wanyou.

Taking a deep breath, Duanmu Chun slowly looked at Wan Tonghui and finally asked directly, “Wan Tonghui, now tell me, where were you at this time last night?”

With this question, everyone who did not know the truth was dumbfounded; why would the Duanmu Great Dominator suddenly ask this?

Yet Yang Zhi did not object, and Yao Yulou also smiled without saying more.

Sikong Jing then slowly retracted all his True Qi; only now did the real drama begin…

Just as Duanmu Chun thought, by creating such a commotion, Sikong Jing was forcing the kidnapping matter into the open for scrutiny.

Li Feng and the others wanted to delay questioning Wan Tonghui until after the engagement banquet to allow time for covert actions.

But Sikong Jing’s persistence in the life-and-death duel was to prevent such a possibility.

Wan Tonghui’s entire body trembled slightly, but before he could speak, Yang Li jumped out again and shouted, “Great Dominator, why are you suddenly asking this? Now, this East Plain’s Little Beast…”

But before she could finish speaking, Duanmu Chun harshly rebuked, “Yang Li, shut up.”

He charged at Yang Li with intense pressure, causing her to let out a startled cry and fly backward, only to be caught by Yang Zhi.

Yang Zhi then coldly stated, “Great Dominator, let’s discuss matters calmly. The truth is still unclear, and as I said before, please don’t push me.”

It was still an arrogant warning, urging not to force the Yang Family to leave the East Dominator Branch.

But this time, Duanmu Chun’s gaze was icily resolute, unwavering as he stared at Wan Tonghui, waiting for his response.

Wan Tonghui tried hard to calm himself and gently replied, “Great Dominator, although I don’t know why you suddenly want to ask this, I was at my Wansheng Courtyard all night and didn’t leave.”

He knew that his prospective father-in-law might have already known everything and would surely suppress this issue outwardly, so he steadfastly denied it.

No matter what, as long as there was no conclusive evidence, he would remain adamant.

However, for some reason, when Wan Tonghui caught sight of Sikong Jing’s eyes, he felt an extreme chill in his heart.

Duanmu Chun continued to question, “But why did someone say you appeared at Wuming Manor in the southeastern direction of Chaotic Second District last night?”

With this, Wan Tonghui trembled all over.

The majority of the crowd remained puzzled, still not understanding why Wan Tonghui would visit Chaotic Second District last night.

“It’s absolutely untrue; who said that?” Wan Tonghui could only mutter, maintaining his denial.

Duanmu Chun replied deliberately, “It was Mrs. Yao, Yao Bajue’s wife, who was kidnapped last night.”
