Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 228: Chapter 227: Swindled 200 Star Stones

Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun stopped and turned around to see a boy about their age riding a Demon Wind Steed approaching them with dozens of followers.

Chu Linfeng realized trouble was coming again. He glanced at Wei Qun and noticed he looked a bit nervous and scared.

”Who is he? You seem a bit afraid,” Chu Linfeng asked softly.

”Our trouble is here. That kid is a notorious Little Overlord from Xuanwu City, usually arrogant and tyrannical. He’s done quite a few bad things. I didn’t expect he’d come for us today. We must endure; his father is one of the top figures in Xuanwu City,” Wei Qun whispered.

A bitter smile flashed across Chu Linfeng’s face. These wealthy and powerful family scions indeed gave him a headache. If not handled well, they could forget about attending the Xuanwu City’s auction.

Looking at the coming and going pedestrians, he saw that entering or leaving the city required paying with Star Stones, and not a small amount. Just from this city entry fee, one could tell how prosperous Xuanwu City was.

The boy, following the rules, dismounted from his Demon Wind Steed and walked up to Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun, saying, ”You two are quite sensible. I’ll take this Demon Wind Steed; you can leave now.”

In simple words, it was clear how arrogant the boy was. Chu Linfeng responded with a smile, ”Since you can appreciate my Demon Wind Steed, you should know the value of it. My Demon Wind Steed is for sale, not a gift.”

His tone was neither humble nor arrogant, making it hard to tell whether he was afraid or disdainful.

”Kid, don’t be ungrateful. It’s your fortune that my young master sees fit to take your Demon Wind Steed. Don’t refuse the toast only to drink a forfeit, or you won’t even know how you died in Xuanwu City,” one of the followers behind the boy said.

It truly seems like what kind of owner has what kind of lackeys. Chu Linfeng did not get angry; it was unnecessary to argue with such people.

”My friend, if you really like my Demon Wind Steed, I can give it to you, but you must wait a day. I have something to take care of in the city first. I believe with your power and reputation, you won’t make it difficult for us!”

Chu Linfeng’s words made the boy frown slightly and ask puzzled, ”Why wait a day? Can’t you do it now?”

”I don’t have any money on me, but I’m in a hurry to get into the city. I can temporarily use the Demon Wind Steed as collateral at an inn or restaurant so I have a place to stay and won’t go hungry.

If I give it to you now, where will I sleep and what will I eat tonight? I know you’re very chivalrous and like to help people. You wouldn’t make it difficult for me, right?” Chu Linfeng said, wearing a very troubled expression, which left Wei Qun perplexed, not knowing what game he was playing.

That boy, with such a big hat put on his head by Chu Linfeng, was momentarily speechless. Just as he was in a dilemma, his follower said, ”Kid, you sure are bold, daring to deceive my young master. Brothers, hack this kid, and we’ll take the Demon Wind Steed.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Linfeng burst into laughter, bewildering everyone. The boy asked, ”Why are you laughing? You’re on the brink of death, and you’re still laughing? Could it be you’re scared silly?”

”I laugh because you’re silly. You let a follower steal your thunder. Do you believe that if I give you this Demon Wind Steed now, you’d return it yourself within two days?” Chu Linfeng said confidently.

”Hahahaha! Did I hear wrong? You’ll have me return it?” the boy laughed, thinking this was the funniest joke he’d ever heard.

Wei Qun’s face almost turned green at this point. What was Niu Tian doing? He regretted being with him now, and it was hard to leave.

”How about we make a bet? If you don’t return it within two days, I’ll give it to you unconditionally. But if you do, you’ll give me your own Demon Wind Steed. I believe with your status in Xuanwu City, you’d agree, right?” Chu Linfeng said.

The boy laughed and said, ”Alright, I agree. I’ve never seen someone so brazen, daring to bet like this with me. But I have one condition. If you lose, how about your life?”

”Fine, but I also have a condition. If I give you the Demon Wind Steed now, I don’t have anything to use as collateral. So, you’ll have to give me two hundred Star Stones first. I heard the inns in Xuanwu City have lots of delicacies, and I’m planning to try them,” Chu Linfeng smiled.

Hearing this, the boy immediately got angry, ”Kid, do you have it wrong? This Demon Wind Steed, even at auction, is worth at most a hundred Star Stones, and yet you want two hundred? Are you scared out of your mind?”

Everyone looked at Chu Linfeng in disbelief. This kid was truly audacious, daring to ask for Star Stones from the Little Overlord of Xuanwu City, and two hundred, no less.

”Seems like you’re scared. If you’re really afraid of losing, then forget it. You can take the Demon Wind Steed, and I’ll head into the city now,” Chu Linfeng laughed.

The boy hesitated for a moment before saying, ”Fine, I’ll give you two hundred Star Stones. I’m curious to see what trick you can pull. Don’t think of running away from me; in Xuanwu City, it’s easy for me to find you. The consequences you should understand.”

With that, the boy signaled to his follower, who retrieved a Storage Belt and handed it to Chu Linfeng, saying, ”Kid, this is two hundred Star Stones. Remember what you said. I’ll let you live for two more days.”

”Thanks. Can we go now?” Chu Linfeng asked.

”Leave! I’ll see how you meet your end when the time comes!” The boy was very frustrated but didn’t know how to vent it, looking very sullen.

Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun then swaggered over to the city gate guards, paid the City Entry Fee, and departed, leaving behind puzzled and incredulous gazes.

Wei Qun asked with a worried face, ”Niu Tian, are you really able to make that kid bring back the Demon Wind Steed?”

”No, I just find the Demon Wind Steed a hassle to keep, and it’s great to have a lackey look after it. Plus, we get Star Stones. Where else can you find a deal like this?” Chu Linfeng said casually.

He knew Wei Qun’s concerns, and he couldn’t help but smile, saying, ”When soldiers come, we block them; when water comes, we cover it with soil. Don’t be afraid. Since I’m daring to bet like this, there must be a way. Let’s go have a good meal; we have things to do later.”

After entering the city, Chu Linfeng noticed a few people tailing them. He knew it must be the boy who sent them to monitor, but he didn’t care.

This Xuanwu City really opened Chu Linfeng’s eyes. The earlier run-in with the boy had distracted him, but looking now, he was quite amazed.

The streets were at least a hundred meters wide, with vendors shouting back and forth. Thousands of people were coming and going. Buildings were intricately laid out on either side of the street, and Chu Linfeng couldn’t see the end with a glance.

Soon, a restaurant called Delicious Pavilion appeared before them. Chu Linfeng smiled, ”Let’s go in and see if there are really any delicacies here.”

Seeing the restaurant, Wei Qun immediately said, ”We better not go in. The food here is very expensive; a meal costs at least a few dozen Star Stones.”

”So cheap? Then we must go in. You forget I have two hundred Star Stones. No matter how expensive the food is, it can’t possibly be finished in one meal!” Chu Linfeng said and went in directly.

Wei Qun hesitated, not really sure what would happen with this fearless kid. Hardening his heart, he followed him inside...
