Chapter 369: Chapter 231: Dividing the Pill

Elder Ma’s effortless skill was viewed with immense envy by Li Shiming, who feared that achieving such mastery would require years of practice.

Just as before, Li Shiming’s Divine Thought entered the Pill Furnace.

Refining the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’ naturally presented many more difficulties compared to the previous Elixir Pills, he could sense through his Divine Thought that Elder Ma was continually using secret techniques to harmonize the energy of the Spiritual Medicine within the furnace.

The energy of the Spiritual Medicine in the Pill Furnace always remained in a stable and balanced state; as time slowly passed, the energy within the Pill Furnace became more intense, but under Elder Ma’s harmonization, the reactions were all within controlled limits.

Refining one batch of pills took two hours, and not only was Elder Ma refining two batches of Elixir Pills at the same time, but he was also continually explaining some contents of the ‘Shushan Pill Scripture’ to Li Shiming.

Through the refining process of this batch of ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pills’, Li Shiming gained a clearer understanding of what it meant to be a High-Level Alchemist.

As Elder Ma’s Divine Thought gently tapped the Spirit Artifact Furnace, a fragrance of pills wafted out.

“A full furnace of high-quality, Master is truly skilled!” Li Shiming, sniffing the pill fragrance, could judge the quality of the Spirit Pills and couldn’t help but praise vocally.

Elder Ma smiled without saying a word, but he heaved a sigh of relief in his heart.

Having a disciple like Li Shiming also brought great pressure; despite his relaxed appearance, he had exerted his full capability to avoid any accidents.

Even an Alchemy Master could not guarantee a hundred percent success rate in refining Second Grade High-Level Elixir, and there was always room for error if not careful.

He packed ten High-Level ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pills’ into a jade bottle and handed it to Li Shiming.

“Master, let me refine a batch for your critique!” Li Shiming, having received the jade bottle, put it away and said.

He took out the Three-Revolution Heavenly Treasure Furnace right next to Elder Ma and began his first attempt at refining Foundation Establishment Mid Stage Second Grade Elixir.

Elder Ma allocated a part of his Divine Thought to observe Li Shiming’s refining process.

This was no ordinary refining session; if Li Shiming succeeded in refining the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’, the sect would gain another High-Level Alchemist.

With Li Shiming’s alchemy talent, combined with ownership of the Spiritual Fire, there was no longer any doubt; he would certainly become an Alchemy Master.

The Red Sun Fire entered the Three-Revolution Heavenly Treasure Furnace, and as he executed the ‘Spirit Flame Control Fire Technique’, Li Shiming felt his control over the Red Sun Fire becoming even more effortless.

The ‘Spirit Flame Control Fire Technique’ was largely developed specifically for controlling Spiritual Fire, thus eliciting such a feeling from him.

One by one, the processed Spiritual Medicines were placed into the Pill Furnace and, under the effect of the ‘Thirty-Six Palm Return Elixir Technique’, they tumbled and mixed within the Pill Furnace, transforming into Dan Liquid.

He used the ‘Green Emperor Upper Sensing Technique’ to sense the state of the Dan Liquid in the Pill Furnace and, drawing upon the Alchemy data of Elder Ma collected by the IBMz15, adjusted the energy balance within the Pill Furnace.

Elder Ma, having put away the previously refined Elixir Pills, stopped refining and focused entirely on Li Shiming’s alchemy process.

A look of contentment appeared on his face as this was Li Shiming’s first attempt at refining the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’, yet he managed to maintain a standard above average and made no mistakes throughout.

The Dan Liquid inside the Three-Revolution Heavenly Treasure Furnace became increasingly consolidated, and as Li Shiming continually used his Divine Thought to form a palm to gently tap the Pill Furnace, the tapping grew more substantial until the final tap opened the Furnace, and eight Spirit Pills flew out.

“Ah!” He couldn’t help but sigh; the refining session had not yielded a full batch, and out of them, only three were High-Level Elixir Pills, the rest were Intermediate Elixirs.

“Alright, I will assign you the sect task of refining the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’; after refining a few more times and summarizing the experience, you’ll be able to consistently yield a full batch!” Elder Ma, seeing Li Shiming’s dissatisfaction despite his obvious success, waved his hand dismissively as he spoke.

If everyone were judged by Li Shiming’s standards, his other alchemy disciples should have been expelled from the sect.

“Thank you, Master!” Despite his regrets, Li Shiming was truly happy, and he bowed in thanks.

By saying so, Elder Ma had effectively recognized Li Shiming’s status as a High-Level Alchemist, meaning he could now accept tasks meant for High-Level Alchemists within the sect.

The previously refined ‘Shushan Hunyuan Pill’, although a Second Grade Elixir, had only one Second Grade Spirit Medicine, whereas the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’ contained five Second Grade Spiritual Medicines, and the number of Second Grade Spiritual Medicines determined the difficulty of alchemy.

The Shushan Sect had only one Alchemy Master, Elder Ma, but there were four High-Level Alchemists.

The four High-Level Alchemists might seem numerous, but considering the vast size of the Shushan Sect, with hundreds of Mid-to-Late Stage Foundation Establishment disciples alone, four High-Level Alchemists were nowhere near enough.

Without Elder Ma’s intervention, Elixir Pills for Mid-to-Late Stage Foundation Establishment cultivators were always in high demand and would quickly be exchanged away by the cultivators with contribution points whenever available.

“Now that you’ve stepped into the threshold of a High-Level Alchemist, you will receive some connections within the sect asking you to craft Elixir Pills. For at least a year, do not accept such commissions; an Alchemist’s reputation is very important. Although a failure does not require the Alchemist to compensate, what they lose upon failure is their reputation!” Elder Ma thought for a moment before advising further.

“I understand!” Li Shiming nodded in response.

Li Shiming took on the task of refining a hundred batches of ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pills’ and returned to his own cave dwelling.

After three refining sessions of the ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pill’, he was able to consistently achieve a full batch of high-quality ‘Shushan Yellow Spirit Pills’. This was not only helped by the Alchemy data of Elder Ma collected by the IBMz15, but also due to the extensive experience he had gained from mass refining Elixir Pills over the course of the previous year.
