Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 356: Chapter 224 Tracking_2

Li Yuanba’s caution forced Elder Lv to choose an adventure, considering it worth the risk for a possible divine power.

Elder Lv took out another Identity Jade Disc, which belonged to a Foundation Establishment Cultivator of the sect.

With this new identity, he boldly left the checkpoint and followed the trail of Li Yuanba’s aura.

It was from the last time he lightly tapped Li Yuanba, leaving a mark inside Li Yuanba.

The means of a Golden Core cultivator were not something Li Yuanba could detect, and although Li Yuanba had examined his own body, he found nothing unusual.

This time, Li Yuanba was heading directly for the predetermined location, a site close to the Righteous Path’s defensive line.

...

On the other side, the real Li Shiming had also passed through the great formation, entering the edge of the battlefield, waiting for Li Yuanba.

He was quite comfortable, setting up a formation with seventy-two flags and resting there.

“How many Foundation Establishment cultivators from the Senluo Sect have entered the battlefield?” Zhi Kong Arhat asked sternly.

“About twelve hundred!” Zhi Ming Arhat quickly answered.

“Jue Tu’s condition is unstable; he hasn’t killed in too long. If this drags on, he fears he won’t be able to restrain himself any longer, let him go to the battlefield!” Zhi Kong Arhat thought and said.

“Let’s see how the Senluo Sect, minus these twelve hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators, will contend with our sect in the next three hundred years!” Zhi Ming Arhat said with a laugh.

He had great confidence in Jue Tu Buddha, whose ‘kill to become a Buddha’ approach, once Buddha status is achieved and Arhat status is attained, could add a strong Arhat to the Qianye Temple. At that level, once his realm improved to be comparable to Elder Jian, he could even fight Elder Jian.

These twelve hundred Foundation Establishment Demon Cultivators are the stepping bones for Jue Tu Buddha’s Arhat advancement.

Jue Tu Buddha’s uncontrollable killing intent, once it reaches the Arhat level, could be self-regulated.

The efforts of the Qianye Temple over the past hundred years were completely worthwhile.

Zhi Ming Arhat waved his hand toward the formation behind him, the formation opened, and a surge of killing intent, no longer suppressed by the formation, shot straight into the sky.

“Amitabha Buddha!” Zhi Kong Arhat intoned solemnly, and the soaring killing intent was suppressed by this utterance.

At that moment, a figure appeared within the formation, a monk dressed in a black robe, towering at two meters and fifty centimeters.

A height of two meters and fifty centimeters was extremely rare in the Cultivation World, even among Devil Cultivators using secret techniques, some were taller than him.

But at a normal state of two meters and fifty, that was rarely seen.

Jue Tu Buddha didn’t have the strong physique typical of other Buddhas from Qianye Temple; instead, his body was lean, with sunken eye sockets and high cheekbones, and his eyes were blood-red.

If not known to be a Half-step Golden Core Buddha, one might think he was a Corpse Refining by some Devil Cultivator.

His appearance was almost seventy percent similar to that of Corpse Refining; he looked more like a Devil Cultivator than the Devil Cultivators themselves.

Especially with his aura of killing intent, he bore none of the Buddha’s spirit or compassion typical of Buddhist Buddhas.

“Go, this is your path to advancement, kill a thousand of your peers to prove your Buddhahood!” Zhi Kong Arhat pointed towards the battlefield, slowly speaking.

“Master, I can’t restrain it any longer!” Jue Tu Buddha let out a hoarse voice, the voice sounding suppressed.

After saying this, Jue Tu Buddha pressed his palms together in salute, then soared towards the battlefield.

“Namo Amitabha Bodhisattva, duru duru dee, duru dee, Amitabha permit…” Jue Tu Buddha chanted the Rebirth Mantra, his killing was for the sake of all sentient beings, for Buddha, this was his belief.

As he chanted the Rebirth Mantra louder, the killing intent in him instead of diminishing grew stronger.

Killing intent was like other cultivators’ Spiritual Thoughts, a manner of perception; when unleashed, his range of perception of killing intent was even broader than Spiritual Thoughts.

Four Devil Cultivators forming a squad, were searching for the Buddha, when suddenly their bodies chilled, an indescribable evil feeling enveloped them.

“It’s funny, really, Devil Cultivators being scared of evil, which should be the largest source of evil in the Cultivation World.”

Evil is an expression of emotion, and hidden within that emotion is an even more terrifying intent to kill.

As the four Devil Cultivators were preparing to be on guard, murderous intent filled their brains and souls, and they became frozen in place in an instant.

Like a demon, Jue Tu Buddha appeared, his towering figure lunged at the four Devil Cultivators. He did not use any Spiritual Artifacts; instead, his hands transformed into claws, frenziedly tearing the bodies of the four Devil Cultivators apart.

Amidst the flying flesh, the four Devil Cultivators didn’t even realize what had occurred before they were torn to shreds by Jue Tu Buddha.

Jue Tu Buddha, drenched in fresh blood, with his strength close to that of a Half-step Arhat, could have easily avoided being soaked in blood, but he seemed to greatly enjoy the taste of it, a look of intoxication on his face.

“Kill!” he let out a hoarse howl.

On the side of the Senluo Sect, a Golden Core Elder sensed that unmistakable presence on the battlefield.

“A Half-step Arhat, damn it, why wasn’t there any intelligence on this!” the Golden Core Elder roared angrily.

He immediately messaged the other Golden Core Elders, and soon two more appeared.

“Where is Elder Lv?” the Golden Core Elder asked, frowning.

“He’s in his cave, didn’t answer the communication, must be having an epiphany!” another Golden Core Elder responded.

“How can Elder Lv be in seclusion now? Qianye Temple has unleashed a Half-step Arhat. If we don’t make a decision soon, I fear our Foundation Establishment Cultivators will suffer heavy casualties!” the Golden Core Elder said anxiously.

The other two Golden Core Elders also showed an expression of helplessness. Both sides had four Golden Cores and Arhats, making it a battle agreed upon as fair.

On the Righteous Path’s side, at a nearby pass, there were several other sect’s Golden Core cultivators from the Righteous Path. They did not participate in the war.

But once a Golden Core Elder from the Senluo Sect entered the battlefield, breaking the rules of war, those Righteous Path Golden Core cultivators would certainly use this excuse to seize the opportunity to eliminate them.

This was the open plot of the Righteous Path, forcing the Senluo Sect to choose either to save their Foundation Establishment Cultivators or to risk annihilation by sending out Golden Core cultivators.

Either scenario would benefit Qianye Temple.

“Immediately notify all cultivators to return and withdraw from the battlefield!” the Golden Core Elder had no choice but to try to save whoever he could.

He was also aware that, unable to enter the battlefield and without formation communication coverage in the battlefield area, he could not reach every Foundation Establishment Cultivator.

The location of the battlefield was right at the boundary between the Ten Thousand Great Mountains and the Righteous Path’s territory. Both sides restrained themselves greatly, deliberately leaving this area uncovered by formation communications, making it one of the rare areas where long-distance formation communication could not be used.

Straightaway, orders were sent out, but at this point, it was morning, and most well-rested Devil Cultivators had already entered the battlefield.

“All we can do is hope that the True Disciples can hold back this Half-step Arhat!” sighed the Golden Core Elder, shaking his head.

Though the Half-step Arhat is strong, he is not without counters. The life-saving items held by the True Disciples, such as talismans, posed a threat to the Half-step Arhat.

However, the Golden Core Elders were unaware of the situation with Jue Tu Buddha. If they had known that this was a Half-step Arhat who had become a Buddha through killing, they would not have thought this way.

Talismans and other life-saving offensive items all require time to be activated.

Besides, with the strength of artifacts being about a tenth of a talisman, it’s still a question whether it can harm a Half-step Arhat like Jue Tu Buddha.

Jue Tu Buddha was much stronger than a typical Half-step Arhat, and it would not be an exaggeration to say he represented the pinnacle of power for someone at the Foundation Establishment Stage.

This was why the Arhats of Qianye Temple were extremely confident in Jue Tu Buddha.

Li Yuanba didn’t have the keen perception abilities of a Golden Core Elder; he was still rapidly advancing towards the rendezvous point.

Following him, Elder Lv also failed to sense the aura of Jue Tu Buddha as a Half-step Arhat. It wasn’t that Elder Lv lacked strength, but rather, he had used a Secret Technique to suppress all his power to the late stage of Foundation Establishment, thus avoiding detection by the Golden Core cultivators of both parties.
