Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 74 Guidance (Seeking Recommendations, Seeking Monthly Votes!)

Li Shiming walked into the Qingqiu Pavilion with nine other young men, where a young cultivator was waiting for them.

”Hello, my name is Zhu Ji, and Iʼm your guidance senior brother. Please introduce yourselves first!” the brother named Zhu Ji said with a smile.

Following Zhu Jiʼs gesture, each young man began to introduce himself, and Li Shiming followed suit, announcing his own name.

”Itʼs my duty to guide you. For the next three months, Iʼll be here every morning for two hours. During this time, you can ask me any questions. This is a benefit for newcomers. After the three-month newbie period, youʼll no longer have such an opportunity.

After three months, youʼll need to make equivalent exchanges to get answers to your questions, so I hope you will cherish this time.”

”Before we go to receive your main cultivation techniques, let me first tell you about the basic knowledge of cultivators,” Zhu Jiʼs voice clearly reached everyoneʼs ears.

Everyone understood how crucial Zhu Jiʼs upcoming explanations would be, potentially affecting their entire cultivator careers, so they all focused intently.

”Cultivatorsʼ battle methods are divided into close combat and long-range. Close-combat cultivators usually practice Body Refining Techniques and rely on their own strength and speed, using powerful defensive capabilities and magic artifacts to suppress enemies up close.

Long-range cultivators rely on distance magic artifacts, spells, talismans, and other means as their main attack methods. Most cultivators choose this style of combat because it allows them to advance or retreat effectively.

Cultivators, when classified by profession, can further be divided into combat and support types. The most renowned in the combat category are Sword Cultivators, who are formidable in both close and long-range combat, and itʼs said that one sword can break through ten thousand spells.

In the support category, there are Alchemists, Talisman Makers, Spirit Planters, and so on. Often, such professions are secondary, as few cultivators would give up combat since the ability to fight is essential for survival in the Cultivation World.”

”What kind of cultivator you want to become is up to you, and the sect will not interfere with this.”

”At the Ascension Conference, your spirit root seeds were already tested, but the conditions were not as good as the Spirit Testing Array in this Qingqiu Pavilion. Here, you can clearly know each of your spirit rootsʼ values, which is the most crucial reference when choosing your main cultivation technique.

Do not disclose your spirit root values to other cultivators, as they will remain your lifelong secrets. These values will affect the direction of your cultivation, the attribute requirements for magic artifacts and resources, as well as the resources needed for your ultimate advancement to Foundation Establishment,” Zhu Ji instructed the group of young men with a piercing gaze.

The youngsters didnʼt fully grasp what he was saying, but they knew that if Zhu Ji was stressing it, it must be extremely important.

”Enter the array one by one, and remember your spirit rootsʼ values. After you have your values, you can decide on your own or consult with me on how to choose a cultivation technique!” Zhu Ji instructed, gesturing with his hand after seeing that the young men understood.

In the center of the Qingqiu Pavilion, an array wrapped in white light appeared.

While the other youngsters were still observing, Li Shiming was the first to step into the white light.

As soon as he entered the white light, he felt his entire body being penetrated by the white light rising from below, scanning every cell thoroughly.

He had the feeling that this array was for more than just measuring spirit root values; it also served to probe the new disciples.

Fearing that the array might detect his storage space, he was relieved that what he feared did not happen.

This also confirmed for him that the connection between the storage space and himself could not be discovered by ordinary cultivation methods.

”

Metal Spirit Root: 81,

Fire Spirit Root: 11,

Wood Spirit Root: 8.

”

The Array conveyed a piece of information to him, helping him understand the value of his spirit root seeds.

He walked out of the Spirit Testing Array somewhat bewildered, and if it werenʼt for Zhu Jiʼs advice to keep it a secret, he would have asked Zhu Ji to explain the significance of these values to him.

After Li Shiming stepped out of the Spirit Testing Array, one youth after another entered it.

”You all remember your spirit root seeds values, right? The total spirit root seeds value is 100. If itʼs a single spirit root, then that only spirit rootʼs value is 100. There are no such talents with a single spirit root among you disciples, not even dual spirit roots.

So what you need to pay attention to is, if one of the spirit roots is the highest, then that spirit root becomes your main spirit root, and you should choose a Cultivation Technique that matches well with your main spirit root as much as possible.

If there are two spirit roots with relatively high values, then choose a Cultivation Technique that fits those two spirit roots.

Like the Wood Fire Spirit Rootʼs ʼFire Wood Formulasʼ, or the Fire Earth Spirit Rootʼs ʼEarth Fire Techniqueʼ.”

If the values of three spirit roots are all quite close, then you just go with your feeling!” Zhu Ji said, looking intently at the ten people.

”Senior Brother Ji, does a higher spirit root value mean stronger abilities?” one youth asked aloud.

It seemed the youths present were all very concerned with this question, collectively awaiting Zhu Jiʼs response with eyes fixated on him.

”The importance of a spirit root seeds value is not as critical as you imagine; sometimes the compatibility of the spirit roots is even more important than their values!” Zhu Ji pondered before answering.

However, Li Shiming noticed the subtle expression on Zhu Jiʼs face when he gave this answer; it was an expression of saying something against oneʼs true thoughts.

It seemed that Zhu Jiʼs real belief was that the value of spirit roots was very important, but he did not want to discourage some of the newcomers.

Zhu Ji was also helpless, as there were originally three seedlings with dual spirit roots this time, but regrettably, all three with dual spirit roots had died young.

If there had been dual spirit roots here, at least one steward from the Eight Peaks would have come over, but knowing now that there were only ten new disciples with three to four spirit roots, and all the disciples had been severely frightened, the Eight Peaks had lost interest in this group of newcomers.

Probably only after three full months would someone from the Eight Peaks come to assess these newcomers.

”Come up one by one to collect your items!” Zhu Ji shifted the topic.

He called out names one by one, and each youth stepped forward to collect their items.

The items received by the youths were a robe and a jade disc, the robe bearing the Sky Sea Sectʼs insignia.

It wasnʼt until the last that Li Shimingʼs name was called, and he walked up to Zhu Ji.

”Li Shiming, you have reached the Qi Refining Third Level, but you will still live at Qingqiu Pavilion for these three months. The spiritual energy at Qingqiu Pavilion is the richest among the nine peaks. Besides the newcomer period, you wonʼt have many opportunities to cultivate here.

This is your storage bag. Inside, aside from the Identity Jade Disc and Sky Sea Robe, there is also a paper crane and a standard low-grade long sword magical artifact!” Zhu Ji said, smiling at Li Shiming.

The other youths glanced at the robes and Identity Jade Discs in their hands and exchanged looks with each other, none of them possessing the courage to openly question the fairness after having faced life-and-death situations.

”When you reach the Qi Refining First Level, you will also have a storage bag and a paper crane. When your strength reaches the Qi Refining Second Level, the sect will issue you a standard Lower Grade Long Sword magic artifact!” Zhu Ji explained in a grave voice.
