The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 904: Chapter 903: The Girl Following Behind

Su Changfeng left with extraordinary ease, as if the matter was nothing to him, just a trivial affair. But as he walked, his pace gradually slowed because he suddenly noticed that Lu Qingqing had been following him all along.

Su Changfeng glanced at Lu Qingqing and deliberately stopped abruptly, wanting to test if she was really stalking him. Sure enough, as Su Changfeng stopped, Lu Qingqing also halted her steps. Su Changfeng could only sigh helplessly, looking at Lu Qingqing with a face full of resignation.

”What do you want, why are you following me?” Su Changfeng finally couldn’t control himself and asked.

”Um... I... didn’t I just speak up for you? And precisely because of you, I now can’t be with him.” Lu Qingqing stammered.

”So what, don’t you have your own parents?” Su Changfeng asked.

”Unfortunately, my parents passed away not long ago, and it happened when I wasn’t around at all.” Lu Qingqing said.

Su Changfeng was truly sympathetic upon hearing Lu Qingqing’s situation, even though he was very unhappy with her actions. But considering her experiences, he understood why she was with such company, and his resentment towards her wasn’t as deep.

”Is it because you don’t have parents that you’re with these people?” Su Changfeng asked.

”Yes.” Lu Qingqing lowered her head in deep sorrow and guilt. Due to the height difference, Su Changfeng couldn’t fully see Lu Qingqing’s expression, but he clearly felt her body trembling violently, and from her trembling, he could tell that her words were genuinely painful.

”Even so, why have you stayed with them all this time?” Su Changfeng, although very sympathetic to Lu Qingqing’s plight, realized that Lu Qingqing might not be as he previously understood. Her actions might not simply be the result of growing up without parents or being homeless; there might be other reasons, like her parents.

”The reason my parents died back then was due to a car accident. The perpetrator was drunk driving and accidentally hit my parents. But just because his family was extremely wealthy, my parents were gone, while the perpetrator remained at large, unpunished. Since then, I’ve sworn that one day, I’ll make those people face the consequences they deserve.” Lu Qingqing said, full of resentment.

From Lu Qingqing’s tone during the conversation, you could deeply sense how resentful she was about this matter. Even though two years had passed, the scene of her parents’ death was still vividly imprinted in her mind, reminding her to constantly remember to avenge them. It was precisely due to this hatred that Lu Qingqing chose to stay with these people often, because she knew that only they might help her fulfill her wish.

”That perpetrator was simply ruthless. They even made a scene at my parents’ funeral, arrogantly telling me not to think about revenge or else I wouldn’t see the next day’s sun. Since then, I chose to associate with these people because I subconsciously felt that only if I became bad, they wouldn’t dare bully me. Only if I became arrogant, they wouldn’t dare mess with me, and I would have the chance to avenge my parents.” Lu Qingqing said defiantly.

”But do you think what you’re doing is actually effective?” Su Changfeng asked indifferently.

Lu Qingqing was rendered speechless by Su Changfeng’s sudden question.

Could it really be that this was effective?

Lu Qingqing always believed that only by becoming bad enough, she could muster enough courage to avenge her parents. She always thought she had become bad enough, yet whenever she thought of that perpetrator, she couldn’t help but fear him, as if her transformation hadn’t improved anything for her, and had instead plunged herself into a dire situation.

”Have you ever taken care of someone disabled?” Su Changfeng continued to ask expressionlessly.

Lu Qingqing contemplated for a long time before slowly approaching Su Changfeng cautiously, gently pushing the wheelchair, and whispered in Su Changfeng’s ear: ”Can you really help me?”

”Then I want to ask you, why? I seem not that familiar with you, right!” Su Changfeng still replied expressionlessly.

”Aren’t you very capable? Aren’t you wealthy? Why can’t you save me from this abyss?” Lu Qingqing asked, full of doubt.

Su Changfeng sneered indifferently and said: ”What’s the use of being capable? Does my capability have to be used to help you?”

”Why can’t you help me? To you, it’s just a small matter; why can’t you lend a hand? Haven’t you seen in TV dramas how girls who are hurt always have a hero helping them? Why don’t you do the same?” Like a hundred thousand whys, Lu Qingqing asked a series of questions.

From the girl’s words, it could be seen that she was a fan of martial arts novels, and martial arts novels seemed to greatly influence her perception. They had always been the mental support that kept her going. Without these novels, perhaps this little girl couldn’t have resolutely moved forward.

However, this is the gap between ideals and reality. Reality is reality and won’t be like martial arts novels where every frail girl finds a hero willing to rescue her. In this real society, such things almost never happen.

”Haha! Your thinking is really amusing. I can tell you clearly, I don’t like being a hero, so I won’t be lending or helping someone.” Su Changfeng said indifferently.

Lu Qingqing unwillingly listened to Su Changfeng’s words, it was obvious that she completely disagreed with his view, because the girl always thought that Su Changfeng would become the hero in her heart. Although he lost his legs, he was determined, fully capable of doing what a hero should do.

When the little girl brought Su Changfeng back to his place, she was completely shocked by the decoration of his home. Standing skinny and frail, she dared not move, afraid of damaging any valuable item in his home.
