The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 894: Chapter 893: The Girl Following Behind

Su Changfeng left with exceptional nonchalance, as if this matter was nothing to him, just a triviality. However, as he walked, his pace gradually slowed because he suddenly realized that Lu Qingqing had been following him all along.

Su Changfeng glanced at Lu Qingqing and deliberately stopped abruptly, wanting to test if Lu Qingqing was indeed following him. Sure enough, when Su Changfeng stopped, Lu Qingqing also halted her steps. Su Changfeng could only sigh helplessly, looking at Lu Qingqing with a face full of resignation.

”What do you want? Why are you stalking me?” Su Changfeng finally couldn’t hold back and asked.

”Well... I... didn’t I just speak up for you? Because of you, I can’t be with him now either.” Lu Qingqing stammered.

”So what? Don’t you still have your own parents?” Su Changfeng asked.

”Regrettably, my parents passed away not long ago, and they died when I was completely away from them,” Lu Qingqing said.

On hearing about Lu Qingqing’s ordeal, Su Changfeng truly looked sympathetic. Although he was very unhappy with Lu Qingqing’s matters, thinking about her tragic experience, he realized there were reasons for her actions, and his resentment towards her was not as deep.

”Is it because you have no parents that you ended up with those people?” Su Changfeng asked.

”Yes,” Lu Qingqing lowered her head in sadness, full of guilt. Due to the height difference, Su Changfeng couldn’t fully see Lu Qingqing’s expression at the moment, but he could clearly feel her body trembling violently. From her trembling, it was evident that her words were truly painful.

”Even so, why do you still stay with them?” Although Su Changfeng sympathized with Lu Qingqing’s plight and clearly felt that Lu Qingqing might not be like the person he once understood her to be, and her previous actions might have been caused by her lack of parents and being homeless, he was not sure why but suspected there were other reasons, like her parents.

”My parents died in a car accident back then. The perpetrator was drunk-driving and accidentally hit my parents. However, because they were wealthy, my parents were just gone like that, while the perpetrator remained unpunished and free. Since then, I have vowed that someday these people must receive the punishment they deserve,” Lu Qingqing said with sheer hatred on her face.

From Lu Qingqing’s tone just now, one could deeply feel how much anger she harbored towards this matter. Even though two years had passed, the scene of her parents’ death was still so vivid in her mind, as if reminding her to always remember avenging her parents. It was precisely because of this hatred that Lu Qingqing chose to stay with them, because she knew only these people might help her fulfill her wish.

”The perpetrator was utterly insane. They even caused a scene at my parents’ funeral, repeatedly telling me not to think about revenge, or I wouldn’t see the light of another day. Since then, I chose to stay with this group of people because I subconsciously felt that only by turning bad could they hesitate to bully me, only by becoming overbearing could they refrain from messing with me, so I might have a chance to avenge my parents,” Lu Qingqing said indignantly.

”But, do you think doing this really works?” Su Changfeng asked indifferently.

Lu Qingqing was left speechless by Su Changfeng’s sudden question.

Does doing this really work?

Lu Qingqing had always felt that only by becoming bad enough could she muster the strength to support herself in avenging her parents. She always thought she had become bad enough, but whenever she thought of the perpetrator, she couldn’t help but feel scared, as if her change hadn’t improved anything but cast her into a desperate situation like a helpless wolf.

”Have you ever taken care of a disabled person?” Su Changfeng continued emotionlessly.

Lu Qingqing thought for a long time, slowly came beside Su Changfeng, cautiously pushed the wheelchair, and whispered in Su Changfeng’s ear, ”Can you really help me?”

”Then may I ask you, why should I? I don’t seem that familiar with you, do I?” Su Changfeng still spoke emotionlessly.

”Aren’t you very capable? Aren’t you wealthy? Why can’t you save someone like me who’s in the depths of despair?” Lu Qingqing asked suspiciously.

Su Changfeng smirked disdainfully and said, ”What good is my capability? Does my ability have to be used to help you?”

”Why can’t you help me? For you, it’s as easy as a wave of your hand, so why not lend a helping hand? Don’t you see, in TV dramas, when a girl gets hurt, a chivalrous hero always helps her? Why won’t you do that?” Lu Qingqing, like a child full of questions, asked a series of questions.

From the girl’s words, it was evident she was a martial arts novel enthusiast. Moreover, martial arts novels seemed to have greatly influenced her perception, serving as her spiritual pillar to keep going. Without the influence of novels, perhaps this little girl wouldn’t go on so resolutely!

However, this is the gap between ideal and reality. Reality is reality, and it won’t be like in martial arts novels where every frail lady meets a hero willing to sacrifice himself to save her. In this real society, such things practically never happen.

”Haha! Your idea is truly amusing. Let me tell you clearly, I don’t enjoy playing the hero, so I won’t help or lend a hand to someone,” Su Changfeng said indifferently.

Lu Qingqing listened to Su Changfeng’s words reluctantly. Obviously, she completely disagreed with Su Changfeng’s views, as she always believed Su Changfeng could be the hero in her mind. Although he had lost his legs, he had a strong will and the capability to do what a hero should.

When the young girl brought Su Changfeng back to her place, she was utterly stunned by Su Changfeng’s home’s decoration, standing feebly and not daring to move, afraid of breaking some precious item in his home.
