The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 887: Chapter 886: Severing the Master-Disciple Relationship

“I don’t know why either, it’s just that I just learned that Elder Wu wants to take me as his direct disciple.” Su Changfeng explained everything he knew to Ye Qingtian.

Upon hearing this news, Ye Qingtian was so excited he couldn’t contain himself. This was a heaven-sent opportunity. Even though Su Changfeng hadn’t officially become Elder Wu’s disciple yet, he already made Ye Litian, that old guy, so fearful. If this continued in the future, he wouldn’t need to fear him, and Su Changfeng’s wisdom would develop even better.

“Changfeng, you really didn’t let me down. It’s truly a blessing for our Ye family that you encountered such a distinguished person as Elder Wu. I believe Elder Wu must be a great figure, which is why that old guy Ye Litian would come all the way to seek me.” Ye Qingtian said with a smile, feeling extremely happy inside.

“But… grandpa, I don’t want to become Elder Wu’s direct disciple, so I didn’t agree. In my heart, Grandpa Huo is my only master. How can I choose someone better and abandon Grandpa Huo?” Su Changfeng said with some difficulty.

As soon as Su Changfeng said this, the air suddenly became quiet, and the conversation fell into silence for a moment.

Ye Qingtian and Huo Tian exchanged incredulous glances, and time ticked away bit by bit until, after a long while, Ye Qingtian still asked Huo Tian incredulously, “Huo Tian, what did you hear just now? What did Changfeng say?”

Huo Tian was sweating, stammering: “Young Master Changfeng… just now… seemed to say he is unwilling, the young master hasn’t agreed yet.”

Actually, not only Ye Qingtian and Huo Tian were surprised, anyone else would think this was incredible too.

“Grandpa, did I do something wrong in this matter?” Su Changfeng asked in a low voice. He was quite puzzled inside, thinking his grandpa would support his decision.

Earlier, the smiling face of Ye Qingtian now had no trace of a smile, his brows furrowed tightly, and he said with a somewhat helpless tone, “You’re asking me now if you did the right thing? Of course, you didn’t. Do you know what kind of person Elder Wu is? He made Ye Litian so wary of you that he came all the way to plead, was forced to kneel by me. Such a God-given opportunity, and you didn’t seize it.”

“Changfeng, don’t be foolish in this matter. You must seize the opportunity. Also, let me tell you, when did I become your master? I never took you as a disciple. You’d better acknowledge Elder Wu as your master soon, otherwise, I won’t see you again.” Huo Tian hurriedly distanced himself from Su Changfeng, afraid he might be confused.

On this end of the phone, Su Changfeng listened to his grandpa’s excited tone, and his master Huo Tian wanting to sever their relationship, feeling somewhat helpless. He knew his grandpa and master had his best interests at heart, but he hadn’t even met this legendary Elder Wu and didn’t know what kind of person he was, how could he easily take him as a master?

Even though one’s ability is indeed extremely important, the main thing is to look at their character, personality, and whether their values match. If someone is just famous but has low moral character and an incompatible temperament, why bother taking such a person as a master and bring suffering upon oneself? Even if this person is a Tuo Shi master, so what?

“Young Master Changfeng, our relationship is that of master and servant, not master and disciple. If you think of me as your master, then today we shall sever this relationship, do you hear?” Hu Li continued, just from the tone, one could tell he was extremely anxious, very worried that Su Changfeng would not seize this opportunity.

“Changfeng, you still don’t understand the stakes involved here, nor the honor of entering Tuo Shi, or the impact on the Ye family. This is a pie fallen from the sky, you must not miss such a good opportunity.” Ye Qingtian continued to persuade, afraid Su Changfeng would really refuse.

Listening to the two of them speaking one after another, Su Changfeng felt very helpless. He never expected his grandpa and master to value this apprenticeship so much. However, despite their efforts to persuade, Su Changfeng had already made up his mind. Even if he were to truly take this legendary Elder Wu as his master, he must first meet this Tuo Shi master.

“Grandpa, let me think about it again, please don’t worry too much.” Su Changfeng said calmly.

“Think about it, why do you still need to think—”

“Grandpa, how is Chen Hanyue doing now?” Su Changfeng didn’t want to continue the topic and wanted to know about Chen Hanyue’s situation, so he deliberately changed the subject.

Upon hearing Su Changfeng ask about Chen Hanyue, Ye Qingtian felt a bit disappointed and said in a low tone: “Chen Hanyue is in good condition recently. By the way, Nianhai’s previous disappearance was the doing of that woman Sun Mei behind our backs. Ji Hong is watching her now, and you can deal with her as you see fit when you return home.”

So it was Sun Mei!

After all this, the person who kidnapped his woman turned out to be her, such a vicious-hearted person, she even dared to lay hands on his newborn daughter.

“Previously, I considered our past relationship and was lenient with her, but I never expected her to be ungrateful and dare to harm my daughter. I won’t easily forgive her.” Su Changfeng said with strong murderous intent. Although Su Changfeng never killed women, Sun Mei had already crossed his bottom line. How could he let anyone who dared to harm his family go free?!

“Yes, yes, Changfeng, this time she won’t be allowed to act recklessly. Everything in Jiang City is fine, don’t worry.” Ye Qingtian said with a dignified tone.

“Okay, please take care of Jiang City’s affairs. Once I finish things here, I’ll come home immediately. Take good care of Chen Hanyue for me.” Mentioning Chen Hanyue softened Su Changfeng’s tone considerably.

“Changfeng, since you’re not in Jiang City, it’s hard for grandpa to protect you, so be careful in everything you do. No matter what situation you encounter, be sure to keep your life safe. Han Xue and Nianhai are waiting for you at home.” Ye Qingtian once again instructed.

“Grandpa, you don’t need to worry about me, I know how to handle things.”

“As for the matter of Ye Litian, don’t be lenient on my account. This is what he owes us. Do what you have to do. If he becomes an obstacle for you, just remove him.”

“And regarding what you just told me about taking Elder Wu as your master, don’t hesitate anymore. Both I and your Grandpa Huo agree with it. If you’re not willing, watch out for your Grandpa Huo…

As soon as Su Changfeng heard that the last thing mentioned was about the apprenticeship, he promptly hung up the phone. Taking a master is indeed significant, he needs to think it over carefully.
