The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 691: Chapter 692: Enter Purgatory Prison

The darkness that makes one unable to resist fear.

So quiet that only one’s own breathing can be heard.

After Su Changfeng was injected with Purgatory Prison’s special anesthetic in Jiang City, he woke up in such a space.

Su Changfeng couldn’t figure out how long he had been in this space, as the darkness made it impossible to tell the current time.

This is the first compulsory lesson for newcomers in Purgatory Prison, and this environment gives a strong sense of oppression. Those without strong mental resilience will undoubtedly break down in such an environment.

To ensure the safety of all-veh detainees, the Purgatory side does not use harmful methods on the prisoners but employs psychological torment to control their behavior, ensuring they gradually become too afraid to act out in Purgatory Prison.

The torture inside Purgatory Prison is to shut people in small dark rooms. Despite seeming easy, anyone who experiences this once or twice will behave obediently.

It’s because of the feeling that there seems to be only him left in the world, leading to severe spiritual torment and extreme pain, unable to sense the passage of time, which is even more maddening.

Su Changfeng is rather strong-minded, but even he finds himself in immense pain facing such an environment, unable to estimate time. The darkness always seems to follow him, causing his mind to wander uncontrollably to other thoughts, which in turn makes him particularly distraught.

Whenever Su Changfeng’s mental state is about to collapse, he forces himself to calm down, recalling the happy life he shared with Tang Qiulu. Only by thinking this way can his mental state stabilize slightly.

He didn’t know how much time had passed, but finally, a glimmer of light showed in the darkness as two muscular foreigners led Su Changfeng out of the small dark room.

Having gone long without exposure to light, Su Changfeng’s eyes were particularly uncomfortable, and even stung from the brightness, causing him to involuntarily shed a lot of tears.

If there were a mirror now, Su Changfeng would find that his entire body had become much thinner, even his cheeks had sunken in, and if Tang Qiulu saw this, she would surely be very heartbroken.

After Su Changfeng adapted to the light, he found himself inside an enormous iron cage surrounded by a three-story structure that looked more like a grandstand; this iron cage resembled a ring.

Right after coming out of the dark room, was he supposed to fight with others?

Su Changfeng frowned, now having some understanding of Purgatory Prison.

Soon, sounds of commotion came from all around, gradually approaching the iron cage, as if many people were coming this way.

”I heard this time it’s a newcomer required to fight on the ring, which has never happened before in Purgatory Prison.” Liu Chao and Pangolin have been in Purgatory for a while and had gathered some understanding.

They did not know why there was such a fight, but according to Pangolin’s speculation, it might be the prison expanding externally in some way, doing these things for profit.

Of course, all this is just speculation, and Pangolin isn’t sure he is correct.

But Liu Chao said a newcomer having to fight on the ring is indeed something unprecedented in Purgatory Prison.

”Seems like this newcomer is somewhat unusual. We should take a look to find out.” said Pangolin.

Purgatory Prison’s environment is vastly different from what Pangolin imagined before entering; beforehand, he thought prisoners had little opportunity for contact.

But after entering, Pangolin found that Purgatory would generally give prisoners time outside daily, allowing them to move freely. Small groups would form at these times, and Pangolin had overheard their conversations, finding most people exchanged observations and understandings of Purgatory, with some even plotting escapes.

However, Purgatory Prison chooses to ignore such conditions, which could be deemed arrogance from Purgatory, knowing prisoners are conversing without intervention, meaning Purgatory never considers anybody could escape, and indeed, throughout its noble family history, nobody has succeeded in escaping.

Once all prisoners gathered on the three-level grandstand, within that massive cage was a skinny silhouette, with a black hood obscuring the true appearance.

”Damn, does he have anything special despite being so scrawny?” Liu Chao exclaimed, surprised upon seeing the person standing inside the cage.

And in his mind, the newcomer was most likely a particularly strong muscular man; that’s why he was asked to participate in this ring fight upon entering Purgatory, yet seeing the person inside the cage, he felt somewhat disappointed.

Pangolin also hadn’t expected this, but he noticed something different: although the man’s face was covered, his skin color said everything.

”That guy is Asian.” Pangolin stated.

”Asians aren’t anything special, right? With that kid’s small frame, he’ll undoubtedly get terribly beaten.” Liu Chao shook his head.

”That, I certainly can’t deny.” said Pangolin.

Not only Pangolin and Liu Chao were particularly disappointed in this fight, but other prisoners also clearly expressed extreme disappointment, angrily pounding the cage and insulting Su Changfeng.

”What’s the meaning of this, even a kid like him gets to compete?”

”Take him out, let me in, why let him waste everyone’s time?”

”Get out, change someone else.”

”Change him.”

The sounds of protest instantly resonated within the crowd, stemming from the fact that winning the competition meant enjoying Purgatory Prison’s special services.

Though Purgatory Prison is a place where there’s no shortage of food and clothes, in prisoners’ eyes, women were undeniably a luxurious dream, winning grants a woman, which to all prisoners in Purgatory is a huge temptation, but not everyone can compete, so when they saw Su Changfeng, they felt particularly displeased.
