My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

”Little lady, this is the first time I’ve ever heard a request like that. Someone actually volunteering to be my hostage.” Scarface burst out laughing as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world.

”I’m a proper Inspector, after all. Aren’t I more valuable than them?” Wan Jie said in a low voice.

”Fine. If you insist, then come on over. But you come alone, and no guns!” Although Scarface looked brutish, he was actually very cautious and meticulous.

Soon, Wan Jie walked over. The couple was already scared out of their wits, just short of wetting their pants.

”Don’t be afraid. As soon as you can, get to my colleagues. They’ll protect you.” Wan Jie didn’t forget to comfort the couple.

”Hahaha, little lady, trying to be a saint? You’re not bad-looking, though.” Scarface’s eyes were filled with greed.

It was a look that would give anyone who saw it goosebumps.

A gaze like that, brimming with avarice.

Soon, Wan Jie reached Scarface. He immediately shoved the couple away and grabbed Wan Jie by the neck.

Wan Jie tried to struggle, but it was useless. Her struggles were futile; Scarface’s grip was viselike.

She was just an ordinary woman. How could she compare to Scarface, a cultivator at the Qi Cultivation Realm? They weren’t even in the same league.

Even though she had won first place in martial arts competitions at school, everything she’d learned was like child’s play in front of Scarface.

Then, Scarface roughly buried his face in Wan Jie’s hair and took a deep sniff.

”Ahh~ so fragrant. It’s been years since I’ve smelled anything like this.” Scarface looked completely intoxicated by the scent; the creep clearly loved it.

”Bastard!” Wan Jie’s pretty face flushed red with anger. She tried to struggle, to break free from Scarface’s grasp.

But she found it was completely futile. No matter how much she struggled, it was useless.

Just then, Chu Feng stared at Scarface and demanded, ”Where did One-Eyed go?”

Chu Feng hadn’t seen One-Eyed anywhere, which left him feeling uneasy.

He was mainly worried about his family and his wife.

But Su Miaoke had Zhao Quan protecting her, so she should be out of any immediate danger.

”What? You wanna know where my big brother is, kid? Get on your knees and call me ’Grandpa,’ and maybe I’ll tell you,” Scarface said with extreme arrogance.

The bastard now thought he had another chance to escape, so he was thrilled.

Chu Feng didn’t speak, his face dark. A powerful rage burned within him.

For now, however, his hands were tied. After all, Wan Jie was in the enemy’s grasp. If he made a reckless move and his opponent flew into a rage, he could easily snap her neck. It would all be over then.

”Kid, I’ll remember this. Just you wait. I’ll make you regret it,” Scarface said before opening the driver’s side door and jumping in.

He threw Wan Jie into the passenger seat.

The instant Scarface got into the car, Chu Feng exploded into action, moving like a speeding train.

In a flash, he crossed dozens of meters.

For Chu Feng, the distance of over a hundred meters was a matter of a few breaths.

So, before Scarface could even start the car, Chu Feng had already grabbed hold of the vehicle, rushed to the side, yanked open the driver’s door, and ripped it clean off its hinges.

Then he reached in and unceremoniously dragged Scarface out.

With a powerful heave,

BANG!

he slammed the man onto the ground, knocking him half to death.

Then Chu Feng viciously kicked Scarface in the head, knocking him out cold.

”Still think you’re hot stuff? Weren’t you acting all high and mighty?” Still not satisfied, Chu Feng kicked him again.

This kick sent Scarface flying more than ten meters.

By this time, the other Inspectors, who hadn’t even processed what was happening, were scrambling to catch up.

By the time they arrived, Chu Feng had already taken care of Scarface.

Wan Jie, still reeling from the shock, got out of the passenger seat, her eyes wide with astonishment.

The scene that had just unfolded had left her utterly stunned.

She never could have imagined that Chu Feng was so powerful, that he could take care of the man in just a few moves.

”Sister Wan, are you okay?” a junior Inspector asked as he ran up to Wan Jie.

Wan Jie, still a bit dazed, shook her head. ”I’m fine.”

Chu Feng paid the man no mind and said, ”This time, do you know how to lock him up properly? Hogtying him is the bare minimum. You need to bind all of his joints, preferably with the toughest nylon rope you can find.”

”If you have the means, you should string him up with thick steel cables or some other high-strength material. The cell you put him in must also be reinforced. Otherwise, he’ll just escape again,” Chu Feng instructed.

”Okay. We’ll do as Mr. Chu says when we get back.” Wan Jie nodded. At this point, she had no choice but to trust Chu Feng.

Her earlier distrust of Chu Feng was what led to this situation in the first place. If he hadn’t been here, she would have been in deep trouble.

After all, catching these two master thieves only to have them escape again was a serious dereliction of duty on her part.

If the consequences were severe enough, she would definitely lose her job.

Afterward, the group returned to the Inspection Bureau.

Su Miaoke and Zhao Quan, who had been waiting in the main hall, saw them and hurried over.

”Honey, how did it go? Are you okay?” Su Miaoke was most concerned about Chu Feng’s safety.

After all, these two were desperate fugitives and extremely dangerous.

”I’m fine. We only caught one of them, though. The other one disappeared somewhere,” Chu Feng said, looking exasperated. He was in a terrible mood.

Even though One-Eyed was no match for him either, he couldn’t stand the thought of the man resorting to dirty tricks.

What if he went after his family and friends? It would be impossible to guard against, since Chu Feng couldn’t watch over everyone all the time.

”Then... then what should we do?” Su Miaoke was worried too—not for herself, but for their family.

”What else can we do? Let’s just go home for now,” Chu Feng said, shaking his head.

”Okay, let’s go home,” Su Miaoke said.

Just as Chu Feng, Su Miaoke, and Zhao Quan were about to leave, Wan Jie suddenly ran after them.

”Wait,” Wan Jie called out, stopping Chu Feng.

This made Chu Feng frown. He turned and asked, ”What is it? You need something else?”

He didn’t have a single good impression of this woman. She was arrogant, conceited, and aloof.

’If it weren’t for her,’ he thought, ’none of this would have happened tonight.’
