My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

”Boss, what’s our next move? Should we make a run for it?” Scarface whispered, surveying his surroundings.

”This place... the two of us can get out in no time,” Scarface continued.

”Don’t be hasty. We can get out of here sooner or later anyway,” One-Eyed said, lying down. ”But what if that kid is still out there? Wouldn’t we just be running to our deaths?”

”Boss, that kid... we just slipped up earlier. If we team up, we can definitely take him out,” Scarface said indignantly.

”Cut the crap. You know damn well that kid wasn’t even using his full strength on us,” One-Eyed said, giving Scarface a kick. ”If he really went all out, he could probably crush us with one hand.”

Scarface looked aggrieved. He said, ”Boss, is that kid really from the Chu Family? But the Chu Family hasn’t been active for so many years. They’ve probably fallen into decline. How could such a powerful young man appear?”

Although the two were notorious criminals, they were also well-traveled and had seen a lot. After all, they had been all over the country.

They had experienced a great deal, which was why they were able to recognize the Fist Skill Chu Feng used at first glance and determine he was from the Chu Family.

”You’re asking me? Who the hell am I supposed to ask?” the One-Eyed Dragon said with some lingering fear. ”Damn it, with one kick, he destroyed my future happiness. If that kick had landed on my chest, I’d have kicked the bucket by now.”

These two had been on the run for years, like fearless desperados. Many people from the Martial Arts Families had failed to capture them.

They had never been particularly afraid of anyone, but Chu Feng alone struck a deep-seated fear into both of them.

In fact, it was because Chu Feng was present on the way here that these two were terrified and didn’t dare to escape.

They weren’t confident they could get away from Chu Feng; otherwise, they would have made a run for it immediately.

This was why One-Eyed didn’t dare to escape now—he was afraid Chu Feng hadn’t left. Escaping at this moment would be like walking right into the line of fire.

”Sigh... who knows if that guy’s still out there. We’re so unlucky this time, running into a monster like him,” Scarface sighed, exasperated.

”Yeah, we really are unlucky. But luckily, that little broad didn’t believe the kid, which gives us a glimmer of hope,” One-Eyed said with a look of relief. ”Otherwise, we’d be completely screwed.”

”I know... I’m just afraid that kid hasn’t left,” Scarface agreed with a nod. He was still very worried whenever Chu Feng was mentioned.

”We only have one chance. If our gamble pays off, we can escape, and we’ll never come back to Beihai again. But if we lose the gamble, then we’re truly finished,” Scarface said grimly. This was the reason for his hesitation.

”Yeah. But whether he’s out there or not, we have to go now. Once their backup arrives, it’ll be even harder to get away,” Scarface said with a nod.

”Brother, we have no other choice in this situation,” One-Eyed said. ”When we break out, we’ll each run in a different direction. That’ll give us a better chance of survival.”

”Deal. It’ll all come down to which of us is luckier. Whoever has better luck survives,” Scarface readily agreed.

Their current situation was a gamble. If they won, there was still hope. If they lost, they’d just have to try again in the next life.

Or perhaps, there wouldn’t even be a next life.

The two then began to discuss their plan. To them, the handcuffs and the iron door were no different than if they were made of paper.

Time ticked by, but the so-called backup was still nowhere to be seen, making Chu Feng grow anxious.

”Where’s your backup?” Chu Feng couldn’t help but ask the Inspectors, but none of them paid him any mind.

At that moment, the two master thieves began to make their move.

First, they easily snapped the handcuffs on their wrists. Then, they walked right up to the iron door.

The two exchanged a look, then nodded.

With a simultaneous effort, each of them grabbed and bent one of the steel bars.

The steel bars were as thick as two fingers. An ordinary person couldn’t hope to bend them, not even with a hammer.

But in their hands, the steel bars were like dry twigs, bent with absolute ease.

After prying open the cell door, the two quickly slipped through and charged out of the holding cell.

However, just as they charged out, they ran right into an Inspector who was getting some water.

The Inspector immediately slammed the alarm button.

Instantly, alarms blared throughout the entire Inspection Bureau, and all the Inspectors flew into a panic.

”What’s wrong? What’s going on?” someone asked, completely baffled about what was happening.

”I don’t know! Where are those alarms coming from?” another person pressed.

”Oh no! The two master thieves have escaped!” someone shouted.

In her office, Wan Jie was in the middle of writing a report when she heard the alarms. The color drained from her face.

In the main hall, Chu Feng shot to his feet as if electrocuted the moment he heard the alarms.

”So they did escape after all,” Chu Feng said, his face a mask of fury.

”Huh? They really escaped? Hubby, what do we do?” Su Miaoke was stunned, completely at a loss.

”What else can we do? We chase them!” Chu Feng said.

At that moment, Chu Feng felt an overwhelming urge to throttle Wan Jie. ’It’s all because she wouldn’t listen to me that those two got away!’

”Okay. Then you should hurry and go, Hubby,” Su Miaoke said to Chu Feng.

”Right. Zhao Quan, you stay here and look after your sister-in-law,” Chu Feng said with a nod.

”Wait for me here. Don’t wander off,” Chu Feng instructed Su Miaoke.

With that said, Chu Feng shot forward and dashed out.

Chu Feng’s perception and reflexes were incredibly fast, and he reached the back door in an instant.

Just then, Chu Feng also spotted Wan Jie in hot pursuit.

’He had to admit, that woman had some real skill. To be able to pursue him this quickly, she was much stronger than the average Inspector.’

’The point was, her speed wasn’t slow at all—far faster than the typical male Inspector.’

By the time they reached the Inspection Bureau’s backyard, the two had already scaled the wall and fled.

”Boss, take care! We’ll meet again when the heat dies down!” Scarface shouted to One-Eyed from the other side of the road after he scaled the wall.

”Right. You take care, too,” One-Eyed replied with a nod.

It was the middle of the night, and the roads were empty.
