My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chu Feng smiled and said, ”What’s wrong, Dad? Can’t you recapture the feeling of the old days?”

”Yes, that’s right. There’s not a single trace of the past left,” Chu Yuntian sighed.

”Dad, don’t worry. I’ll take you around again later. I’m sure you’ll be able to find that feeling again,” Chu Feng said.

Chu Yuntian had mentioned before that one of the reasons he came to Beihai was to walk the roads he had once walked.

After picking up his parents, Chu Feng drove them to the place where Chu Yuntian had founded his company.

The Department Store Building.

Although the building had changed a little over the years, its basic structure was still there, so you could still see a shadow of its former self.

When Chu Yuntian saw it, he couldn’t help but sigh.

”This is where I started my business all those years ago,” Chu Yuntian said to everyone.

Chu Feng had actually heard all about Chu Yuntian’s entrepreneurial days in Beihai from Su Miaoke’s father. His father-in-law had told him all about it at length.

Back then, his father had arrived in Beihai without a penny to his name. He started from the very bottom of society and, in just a few short years, built a large company.

If it weren’t for what happened back then, Chu Feng’s father would definitely be a billionaire-level entrepreneur today.

”Yuntian Trade City... Back then, I planned to bring you and your mother to Beihai after I finished the expansion. But before that could happen, I ran into trouble. It’s a good thing I hadn’t brought you two over yet. Otherwise, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life,” Chu Yuntian said.

”Dad, Mom, shall I take you inside to have a look?” Su Miaoke said.

”Ah, no need. Just looking from the outside is fine,” Chu Yuntian said.

The mall wasn’t his anymore, so there was no need to go inside and look.

”Dad, what if I buy this mall for you?” Su Miaoke asked.

”Buy this mall? With the Su Group’s current strength, that would probably be a real stretch, wouldn’t it?” Chu Yuntian said.

”The difficulty isn’t the issue. We’re currently cooperating with Sixth Master Zhao’s company, so our future growth potential is enormous. The only thing is, this place probably belongs to the Qing Gang, which makes things a little troublesome. But as long as you want it, Dad, I can contact people right now and get things started,” Su Miaoke said.

Hearing this, Chu Feng’s parents hurriedly said, ”Miaoke, no, no! We’re fine just looking. There’s no need to spend so much. Don’t waste your money!”

At this moment, Chu Feng also said to Su Miaoke, ”My parents just want to live a quiet and peaceful life now. They don’t want to stir things up.”

”That’s right... Speaking of the Qing Gang, is Hu Long really dead?” Chu Yuntian asked again.

He was still quite interested in whether Hu Long was dead or alive.

”He’s dead,” Chu Feng nodded, affirming it once more.

”Good. That’s great!” Chu Yuntian said happily.

Next, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke took the two elders on a tour around Beihai.

Every time Chu Yuntian saw a familiar place, he would get very emotional, sometimes even shedding tears until they streamed down his old face.

He had shed so much blood, sweat, and tears in Beihai back then.

Just when he was about to realize his grand ambitions, the unexpected happened, and he could only leave in disappointment.

”Mom, Dad, it’s time for dinner. Let’s go get something to eat,” Su Miaoke said.

”Are we going to the same place as last time? Beihai Restaurant,” Chu Feng asked.

This spot was very close to the restaurant where Su Miaoke had taken him for the first time.

”Yes. The liquor there is good. They have aged vintages,” Su Miaoke said.

”Beihai Restaurant?” Chu Yuntian’s spirits lifted. ”That’s an old establishment! Back in the day, it was one of the best in Beihai. Only the rich and powerful could eat there, and it wasn’t cheap, especially with their high-quality liquor.”

”Dad, you really know your way around Beihai. You understand this stuff so well. Beihai Restaurant has national cellars with thirty- and fifty-year-old vintages, and even some that are a hundred years old,” Su Miaoke said.

”With vintages that old, the price must be astronomical,” Chu Yuntian said.

”Dad, Mom, you’ve come all the way to Beihai, so it’s a rare occasion. I’ll handle the arrangements. You two just focus on eating and drinking well. Don’t even think about the price,” Su Miaoke said with commanding confidence.

As the former head of a company once worth a billion, she naturally possessed a presence that ordinary people lacked.

Besides, these were Chu Feng’s parents, her own father- and mother-in-law. How could Su Miaoke possibly be stingy?

Soon, the car arrived at Beihai Restaurant.

The restaurant’s decor was incredibly luxurious. A single glance told you it was the kind of place most people couldn’t afford.

A casual meal here could easily cost several hundred thousand.

”I haven’t been here in over twenty years. This Beihai Restaurant is even more magnificent now,” Chu Yuntian said with a sigh.

As the group was marveling at the sight, a cheerful laugh suddenly rang out.

”Well, hello, Miaoke! Why didn’t you give me a heads-up that you were coming?” A young woman in a qipao came swaying over, her face all smiles.

”Sister Li, I was afraid you were busy, so I didn’t want to bother you,” Su Miaoke said with a smile.

”Sister Li, let me introduce you. This is my husband, Chu Feng, this is my father-in-law, and this is my mother-in-law.” Su Miaoke introduced her family to the woman who had approached them.

”Miaoke, I have to give you a piece of my mind! Getting married is huge news, and you didn’t even tell me. That’s just not right! If another guest hadn’t mentioned it, I’d still be in the dark. I didn’t even get an invitation to the wedding banquet!” Sister Li said teasingly.

Sister Li was the manager of Beihai Restaurant. Since Su Miaoke often came here to eat, the two of them were very familiar with each other.

”Oh, Sister Li, I haven’t even held the banquet yet! I’ll definitely invite you when I do. My father-in-law and mother-in-law just arrived in Beihai today, so I brought them straight here to you. You have to make sure to arrange things perfectly for us,” Su Miaoke said.

”Don’t you worry, Miaoke. Sister Li will definitely take good care of you. You all go on in and have a seat. I’ll have someone bring up two bottles of thirty-year-old liquor. Consider it my gift to your father-in-law and mother-in-law, just a little something to show my sincerity,” Sister Li said.

”Alright, thank you, Sister Li,” Su Miaoke said with a smile.

”Your Sister Li is so courteous,” Mother Chu remarked.

Chu Feng just smiled and said, ”Mom, Miaoke eats here all the time. Every meal costs hundreds of thousands, sometimes even over a million. Giving her a few bottles of liquor is nothing to them, right?”

Hearing that a single meal could cost hundreds of thousands or even a million, Mother Chu was quite shocked.

Chu Feng’s family was about to head into the restaurant, but not long after they stepped inside, they suddenly ran into a familiar figure.

”Chu Feng?” a sharp, surprised voice called out.
