Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2317: Offer

Emery spent the entire day testing his new artifact, the [Elysian Vembrace]. The gauntlet was a remarkable enhancement, greatly improving his ability to channel nature spells.

However, despite the potential, Emery quickly realized that accessing the full power of the Elysian tree was still troublesome. The amount of material he could draw from the tree remained limited, and the wood he could summon was only equivalent to low-grade tier 6 material—a far cry from its true potential.

Yet, instead of feeling discouraged, Emery found himself more determined. This limitation only motivated him to further train his nature element, pushing him to explore new depths of his connection to the Elysian tree.

He thought of the spell taught by Grand Magus Yvere, [Verdant Ascension], a technique that could aid him in harnessing and expanding the treeʼs power. Emery believed this spell might hold the key to unlocking higher levels of mastery over his nature core.

Driven by this realization, Emery resolved to once again enter a period of closed-door training, fully immersing himself in honing his newfound abilities. At that time, a message arrived from Terra City. The Terra Magus tournament was set to begin, and his presence was expected. With little progress to show for his time in Nephilim Seraph City, Emery decided to attend the upcoming event. He realized this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up with his friends about the recent developments concerning Julian.

”Are we leaving already?” Annara asked, her voice tinged with reluctance.

There was still a week left before their costly monthly membership to the luxurious Sky City expired, and she hesitated to abandon all the high-end facilities and services at their disposal. The spa treatments, gourmet dining, and opulent surroundings had become a comfortable routine for her.

Emery anticipated her reaction. He had considered this scenario and devised a plan that would not only appease her but also benefit them both.

”I need someone to stay here for a year or two to handle the newly opened trade agreements, among other things,” he explained. His tone was earnest, and he could see her curiosity piquing.

He continued, ”Iʼm willing to give you a substantial share of the trades. Youʼd be in charge, and the position will give you access to the Sky City facilities.”

Emeryʼs offer was tempting, but Annara quickly understood that it wasnʼt just about handling trade agreements or enjoying the luxuries of Sky City.

She was sharp, and the hidden message was clear: Emery needed someone to stay behind and keep an eye on the Nephilim. With the upcoming duel on the horizon, any danger or opportunity could shift the balance, and Annaraʼs expertise in subterfuge and intelligence gathering was precisely what he required.

The offer, however, came with a binding contract—a form of commitment that transcended mere paperwork or blood oaths. Instead, they would invoke the power of Khaos.

”You always wanted to know about this... this is your chance,” Emery said, his voice steady and filled with conviction.

The job he was offering required someone with access to the Khaos hub, a conduit that could deliver vital information and execute arrangements across realms efficiently. It was a role of great responsibility, one that demanded loyalty and caution.

Emery knew Annara well enough to recognize that trust was not something she gave easily. She was fiercely independent, and her motivations were often hidden behind layers of personal agendas. Their shared history, intertwined with moments of fate and mutual interest, had created a unique bond. Still, revealing the true nature of Khaos to her was a risk—one he was only willing to take due to her persistent inquiries into Khaosʼ secrets, directed both at him and his daughter, Shinta.

”So, whatʼs your answer?” he asked, his tone serious.

The weight of the decision hung in the air, both for him and for her. Accepting this role would grant Annara a taste of Khaosʼs power, but it would also bind her to him in ways she might not fully comprehend. For someone like Annara, this was not a decision to be made lightly.

Annara has dozens of questions to be answered before accepting such deals, each one a testament to her analytical mind.

To Emeryʼs surprise, her favorable decision stemmed largely from the fact that this arrangement would allow her to communicate more easily with Shinta through the Khaos hub.

”Well, Iʼd prefer it if you hired me back as an Academy instructor, But... alright I accept.”

The process of designating Annara as the next Khaos seed drained much of Emeryʼs strength, both physically and mentally. Yet, amidst the strain, he noticed a change in Annara; she appeared to be experiencing enlightenment, leaving her with much-needed personal time to meditate.

After completing the ritual, Emery took some time to finalize his affairs in Sky City. One of his top priorities was acquiring a series of rare light-based spells, particularly those that would be difficult to find outside this prestigious location. ŘÄɴỗ𝖇Ε𝙨

Among these spells was a collection focused on time manipulation. Though he lacked proficiency in the law of time, Emery believed that his advanced understanding of the law of light could provide him with insights into its intricacies. He believed that understanding the intricacies of time, even at a basic level, could give him an edge in the upcoming duel.

With Fuxiʼs passing, Emery knew he had to step up and face the strongest opponent, Kronos, the Grand Magus of Time.

Once Emery had completed all the necessary preparations, he activated the Khaos gate, stepping into its ethereal energy, and pulling him through the artificial waypoints located within the Terra palace.

His divine sense was greeted by the festive atmosphere of the city outside, buzzing with excitement. Emery made his way toward the main hall, his thoughts were focused on reconnecting with his friends and allies. However, the moment he stepped inside the grand chamber, his steps faltered, his breath catching in surprise.

Standing among the familiar faces was someone unexpected—Julian Kaesar.
