Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2186: Claim

Despite successfully forcing the Nephilim to retreat, the tension in the meeting room at Terra Castle was palpable. Magus Rosia, along with several key officers of the Terra faction, gathered to discuss the alarming situation. The audacity of a faction to behave like thugs under the watchful eyes of the Magus Alliance highlighted the imminent threat they faced.

Emery swiftly issued orders for the pirate hunting force to return immediately from their activities. Their presence was not only needed to bolster the cityʼs defenses but also to ensure their safety, as they might become targets outside the protection of Terra City.

The core of the issue lay in the Nephilimʼs claim to the ownership of Terra City. The official letter presented by the Nephilim emissary stated that Izta, the late leader of the Terra faction, had been under Nephilim faction employment. According to the document, Izta had no legal right to pass down his property to his wives or any other individual, as it belonged to his employer, the Nephilim.

This claim posed a significant legal and moral challenge. If the Nephilimʼs assertion was valid, Terra City could be stripped from its current inhabitants, placing them under Nephilim control. Emery understood the gravity of the situation; it wasnʼt just about property rights but the autonomy and survival of their faction.

The letter explained that the late Lord Iztaʼs significant contributions to the Magus Alliance had led the Nephilim to overlook their claims for many years. However, recent activities by the Terra faction had displeased both the rightful owners and the Magus Alliance. The letter read:

”With this letter, we demand all managing leaders to hand over their authority of Terra Castle to its rightful owner. All residents who are willing to be part of the Nephilim rule are allowed to stay; the rest must vacate the premises immediately.”

The letter was not just arrogant and presumptuous, but Emery also noticed the seal of the Golden City Council, the leading government of the sector, prominently displayed. This endorsement added a layer of official weight to the demands, complicating the situation further.

The atmosphere in the room grew even more tense. Most of the people present had been part of Lord Iztaʼs crew for decades if not centuries. They had built their lives and homes in Terra City, making it an integral part of their existence. The idea of surrendering everything they had worked for, the legacy of Lord Izta, was infuriating.

Magus Cellia, her face flushed with anger, clenched her fists. ”This is outrageous! They canʼt just claim everything we have built!”

Emery struggled to contain his emotions. The Nephilim had crossed a line by targeting the legacy of Lord Izta, a hero who had given so much to the people of Terra City. The audacity of their demands and the arrogance of their letter filled him with a burning anger. He took a deep breath, calming himself before turning to Magus Rosia, the first wife of Lord Izta and the one who had followed him the longest.

”Senior, are any of these claims true? Do they have such a right?” Emery asked, his voice steady but laced with urgency.

Magus Rosia stayed silent for a moment, a frown deepening on her face. She was not sure of the exact legalities, as Lord Izta had never fully disclosed all the details of his arrangements and affiliations. The late champion had his own vulnerabilities and secrets, which made the situation even more complicated.

Her determination was evident as she assured Emery, ”I will quickly handle this matter.” Her resolve to seek legal counsel and gather concrete information about Lord Iztaʼs affiliations brought a sense of direction to the chaotic situation.

Emery then delved into the intricacies of the academyʼs situation, revealing the involvement of the Nephilim Astiel family branch and the Croft magus within the group. The interrogation of the captured magus had yielded some information. Emery confirmed the Croft familyʼs close ties to the Nephilim and their intention to harm Terra. However, the magus had been oblivious to the greater scheme, indicating that more information was needed. Emery planned to visit the Croft faction, suspecting that one of the brothers might hold the key to understanding their broader plans.

Considering the factionʼs involvement, Emery couldnʼt help but think about his allies, the Karat family. ”Any news from the Karat family? Any word from Tessa?” he asked, hoping for some support or insight from his trusted allies.

To his surprise, he learned there had been no movement from the Karat faction. Even Tessa, a good friend who was always at the forefront of all things related to Golden City, had not been sighted for a few weeks. This absence was troubling.

Yuria, who was in charge of information, provided her perspective. ”I believe this has a relation to the coming council seat election,” Emery nodded in agreement. The timing seemed suspicious. His aggressive campaign to gain popularity by fighting the pirates to secure a seat on the council might be intertwined with the problems he was now facing with the Nephilim. At this point, Emery had little hope of gaining the council vote to remove his apothecary shopʼs five-year unfair sentence. The political climate was tense, In fact, he anticipated that at next weekʼs hearing, the Qin family would escalate their efforts against him even further.

Emery took a deep sigh, feeling the enormity of the situation. Political battles, he mused, could be more exhausting than fighting a godly beast. The intricate web of alliances, betrayals, and strategic moves required patience and careful planning. He knew he could not afford to be hasty. Gathering more intelligence and crafting the right response was crucial. Ꞧ𝐀Ν𝘖฿Èṧ

In light of the heightened tensions, Emery ordered all Terra City forces to remain on high alert. This included bolstering security at the Earth-Moon Base. His apothecary shop also couldnʼt be left vulnerable. Itʼs a strategic move to maintain readiness against any unforeseen threats.
