Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2099: Trouble

The sudden appearance of the Kux faction Magus seemed too conveniently timed to be a mere coincidence. Emery was sure that they harbored ill intentions, especially considering their intrusion at such a critical stage of the tribulation. With his Seniorʼs safety hanging in the balance, Emery braced himself for the possibility of a confrontation.

The planet they stood upon was a treacherous realm where danger lurked around every corner. Unexplained incidents were not uncommon in such an environment, and Emery knew all too well that some Magus would stop at nothing to achieve their goals. The presence of multiple teleportation gates, controlled by factions with their own agendas, only added to the intrigue. For the right price, even a rogue Magus could gain access to this planet, slipping unnoticed to seek their gain.

However, the Kux faction had always portrayed themselves as a ʼrighteousʼ faction. They wouldnʼt dare to confront officials of the Zodiac faction, members of the Magus Alliance without what they deemed a ”righteous” reason—or without the confidence to overpower their opponents and eliminate any evidence of their actions.

Emeryʼs keen observation extended beyond the surface, delving into the nuances of the Kux faction Magusʼ composition and the full reach of their intentions. As he received VIAʼs report, he assessed the makeup of the group before him.

The two half-moon Magus stood out as junior members of the faction, their presence seemingly in line with the explanation provided—that they had come for training. It was unlikely that a powerful faction like Kux would dispatch such junior members on a significant mission to a level 7 planet. Their relatively weak status matched their claimed purpose, lending credence to their story.

Among the group, the two senior Magus commanded attention. One of them was a full moon realm Magus, boasting the formidable rank of 6 as a formation expert, though not yet a master. His role appeared to be that of support, a common necessity during training missions in perilous environments. The second senior Magus, identified as Edgar, held the rank of a new squad leader and noble within the Kux faction.

However, Edgarʼs track record raised suspicions. VIAʼs data revealed a pattern of misbehavior and violence, with Edgar often finding himself in precarious situations from which the faction had to protect him. It painted a picture of privilege and entitlement, a quality that could prove dangerous.

Emeryʼs focus honed in on Ramos the Blazing Wind, the grand magus leading the Kux faction group. Every grand magus carried with them a formidable reputation, and Ramos was no exception. Renowned for his exploits in battles against the elves, he bore a level of anonymity to the half-bloods comparable to that of the elves.

Despite his accomplishments, Ramos had not yet ascended to a second cosmos, likely hovering at the middle stage of the first cosmos. This fact brought a measure of relief to Emery. While formidable, Ramosʼs power level fell within a range that Emery felt confident he could contend with. His primary concern, however, lay in ensuring the safety of his senior and, optimistically, preventing any repercussions for the Earth faction following the encounter.

As tensions mounted, Magus Beatrice boldly confronted the Kux faction Magus, her words laced with defiance. ”Are you here for a fight?! If not… you can scram!!” Her resolve hinted at her belief that these racist Magus would not dare to instigate violence against them.

However, Beatriceʼs confidence wavered when the Grand Magus raised his hand and unleashed a fierce fire spell. To her surprise, he directed it not at them, but at the group of legendary-level beasts that had been assaulting the formation. The creatures were incinerated in moments, leaving only charred remains in their wake.

With a smug expression, the Grand Magus addressed them, his words dripping with arrogance. ”You see... we have been helping clean up these beasts, but you half-bloods are just being ungrateful…”

It was such a shameless attempt to justify their intrusion into the affairs.

The grand magusʼ gaze shifted to the massive corpse of the Ancient Desolate beast and casually said. ”We are willing to take this corpse as our share and let you all continue with whatever it is you are doing,” he declared, a smirk playing on his lips. His companions stifled chuckles, adding to the air of disdain.

Beatriceʼs rage boiled over, and Magus Tobin moved swiftly to restrain her, sensing the danger of escalating the situation. Meanwhile, Yord, the formation master, looked on in panic, realizing the precariousness of their predicament.

After confirming their intentions, Emery finally stepped in and calmly said, ”Elder Ramos, your reputation precedes you. I am impressed.”

Hearing this, the Grand Magus raised an eyebrow at the unexpected compliment, a smirk playing on his lips. However, Emery wasnʼt finished. He added, ”Apparently, not only are you a bigot, but you are also a liar and a thief!” These words quickly made all the Kux factions frown in anger.

As the tension escalated, Emery remained calm, his eyes fixed on Ramos. ”You call us animals, and we call you bigots. Seems fair. As for....lying and thievery, those are yet to be determined,” he asserted.

Suddenly, a small octagon-shaped flying metallic object came down from the sky, catching the attention of everyone present. It emitted a soft hum as it hovered in the air, and a synthesized female voice resonated from it, stating, ”All visuals and conversations have been successfully recorded.”

This construct was the physical form of VIA. It was released as soon as Emery sensed this group of Magus arrivals. Emery had instructed VIA to record their interactions meticulously, knowing the importance of documenting the encounter with the rival faction. In such tense situations, every word and action could hold significant weight, and Emery wanted to ensure that they had a clear record of the events.

Edgar, the Kux Magus noble, couldnʼt conceal his irritation ”What a scum! Doing something sneaky like that!” he spat out, his voice tinged with disdain.

Meanwhile, Ramos, the Grand Magus, maintained his smile, but his eyes revealed a simmering rage as he locked gazes with Emery. In a telepathic communication sent directly to Emeryʼs mind, Ramosʼs words dripped with malice.

”What you are trying to do would give me a headache at most... but what I would do to you all... hehe. I might not be able to kill any of you now... but there are many ways to ensure that your Senior fails his ascension.”

Hearing this, Emery sighed deeply, realizing he had underestimated their deep-seated hatred toward half-bloods. It seemed diplomacy was no longer an option—fighting was inevitable. ŕ𝓪Ŋô𐌱Ё𝓢
