My Youth Began With Him

She then interrupted Qiao Nan, not giving him a chance to continue teasing her.

“Yan, how’s your father?”

“Very well.”

“Is he still in America?”

“To be honest, Uncle Qiao, I don’t know where Father is either. I haven’t contacted him in a while. As you know, we’re both very busy.”

Lu Yan didn’t like to reveal her father’s whereabouts to anyone else.

After all, it might accidentally put her father in danger. Lu Yan didn’t feel comfortable answering Qiao Fei’s father in front of so many people.

But he was an elder, after all, so she tried to give in a little.

Probably because he sensed what Lu Yan was feeling, Qiao Fei didn’t want his father to ask any more questions.

Hence, he interjected, “Dad, it’s time to serve the dishes. Yan is hungry.”

“Alright. Come, serve the dishes.”

Qiao Fei’s words caught Elder Qiao’s attention, so he immediately ordered people to serve the dishes one after another.

It wasn’t a Russian-style meal. After all, the people sitting here were all Chinese, so it was a Chinese meal. There were a total of 30 dishes on the long table. The dishes looked exquisite and should taste good, but Lu Yan didn’t seem to have much of an appetite.

“What? It’s not good?” Qiao Fei whispered into Lu Yan’s ear.

“No, I’m probably full from eating the bread,” Lu Yan said.

Qiao Fei was speechless. “Can you be any more capable?”

“No.” Lu Yan stuck out her tongue and made a face at Qiao Fei.

In the eyes of others, this scene was like flirting, but when Qiao Nan saw it, he felt stifled.

He had never been convinced. When Professor Lu first brought Lu Yan to the Qiao family, all three brothers were present. In terms of looks, Qiao Fei wasn’t as handsome as his older brother, Qiao Mo. It was said that Qiao Mo’s looks made many European princesses and film actresses drool.

In terms of talent, intelligence, and methods, Qiao Nan felt that Qiao Fei was inferior to him.

The question was, why did Lu Yan fall for him?

Initially, he was even more eager than Qiao Fei to get close to Lu Yan. He treated her well and chased after her like crazy.

Qiao Fei was someone who was neither cold nor passionate and did not speak much, but Lu Yan chose him.

Everyone in the world knew that Lu Yan and Qiao Fei were engaged and it was since a young age.

It would be a lie to say that Qiao Nan loved Lu Yan very much.

The reason why he wanted Lu Yan was because of Professor Lu’s power and Lu Yan’s personal influence.

First of all, Lu Yan’s wealth was as rich as a country.

Just the money from her Swiss bank accounts alone could easily surpass those rich people on the Forbes List.

Actually, Lu Yan’s eyes, subordinates, and equipment were all top-notch.

Even mobilizing an army to attack Lu Yan’s base would take some time.

Furthermore, Lu Yan was said to be a scientific genius who could develop all kinds of powerful explosives and extract poppy to the purest degree.

She had the high-tech technology that even the research team of the Golden Triangle could not develop.

Whoever had Lu Yan, would have everything.

In the past, Qiao Nan’s ambition was to snatch the Qiao family head’s position, but later on, it could no longer satisfy his ambitions.

After all, he wanted to dominate the Darkness Empire like Ian and make a name for himself in the world.

Lu Yan didn’t eat much and only drank a few sips of champagne.

At the table, an older elder suddenly said after three rounds of drinks, “Miss Lu… since you’re Third Young Master’s fiancée and not an outsider, I’ll be frank about some things. Recently, our batch of firearms has been detained, but that was because the quantity is huge and the amount is huge. We haven’t decided on a suitable buyer… I heard that Miss Lu has a lot of connections, could you help us pull some strings? Otherwise, our products might be retained and we may run short of internal funds.”
