My Youth Began With Him

“No, Mom. I’ve got enough. I can’t spend it all… Don’t give me any more. Our home has more needs to spend on.”

“That doesn’t mean I should not give you pocket money. Mian, just focus on your studies. When you go overseas to study in the future, you can make me proud… and let the Huo Family see how I educate my daughter.”

Yang Meirong was still angry at Huo Zhenghai, and Huo Mian understood her mother’s feelings.

Huo Mian held onto the 50 yuan, her heart heavy…

Uncle Jing had been working hard for this family outside, and her mother was the only one who took care of her and Zhixin. It wasn’t easy.

“Mom, I’ll definitely study hard.”

Aside from promises, Huo Mian didn’t know what else to do.

In fact, she had never thought that she was more talented than others.

For the future, Huo Mian was still a little lost.

She came from an ordinary family. Apart from going to university, there seemed to be no other way out for her. She was not like those rich second-generation heirs who could take over the family business after graduating.

The truth was, Huo Mian never wanted to go to Second High.

She had long heard that there were many wealthy people in Second High School. Their food and expenditure were vastly different from hers.

It was not that she felt inferior. She just felt that she was incompatible with those people.

The principal and teachers of Second High School were very sincere and did not hesitate to lower their statuses and visit her simple home.

Huo Mian went because of the scholarship.

All these years, her mother had been saving the scholarship money in the bank and earning interest. Their lives seemed to be much better than before.

The next morning.

It was Friday, so Huo Mian felt especially relaxed.

On Saturday and Sunday, apart from helping her mother with some housework, she often went to the nearby mountains to pick mushrooms and wild vegetables.

She would have a lot of fun. When she got tired, she would eat bread and drink water that she brought along. At that time, it felt as if her stamina would never run out.

Friday’s schedule was more relaxed. After cultural class in the morning, music class in the afternoon, there was only a sports class and a self-study session.

This kind of schedule was well-liked by the bad students because there were basically no classes. They could sleep and play whenever they wanted.

Some of the guys even secretly climbed over the wall to go to internet cafes or gaming halls.

At that time, there was no WeChat and the students’ phones were all very ancient. They could only call and send messages.

Plus, it was expensive to use phones. Only a small number of rich second-generation heirs like Qin Chu would have access to advanced cell phones.

“Mian, let’s go out and play later…”

“Where are you going?”

“You want to play billiards or use the Internet? Anything is fine,” Zhu Lingling said.

“I don’t think so. That costs a lot of money.” Huo Mian thought that if she went to those places, she would have to spend money. Her pocket money was limited, so she wasn’t intending to go.

“I have money. I’ll treat you.”

“No.”

“Look… I said I’m treating you, why aren’t you coming?” Zhu Lingling was anxious and wanted to convince Huo Mian.

“Your money didn’t come out of nowhere. Don’t waste it. If you want to go, you can go by yourself… But… you better be careful these two days… Because I feel that the cheerleaders won’t let us off easily.”

Huo Mian had a feeling that the seniors weren’t someone they could mess with, so she should be careful.

Zhu Lingling, on the other hand, had always been fearless.

“What are you afraid of? I didn’t really kidnap Xing Yan to bed,” Zhu Lingling said confidently.

“Shh… please be quiet, can you stop speaking so freely?” Huo Mian felt helpless.

If it wasn’t for the fact that she was used to Zhu Lingling’s dirty jokes, she would have blushed all the time.

“What I’m saying is right… Don’t be so nervous, everyone already had their sexual education when they were teenagers… They’ll get to know these things sooner or later…”

As the two of them were chatting, the class monitor, Han Xu, walked over.

“After school today, the whole class is going out for a dinner gathering. It’s at the VIP building in front. It’s on dutch so everyone has to pay 20 yuan.”

Before Han Xu could finish, Huo Mian shook her head. “I’m not going.”
