I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 259: Chapter 171: Dreaming Of 3

It was an afternoon.

Jiang He wasn’t there.

Shen Yu fought back the pain and pressed the call bell by her bed.

The head nurse pushed the door open and walked in.

”Shen Yu, is the pain back? Should I give you a painkiller shot?”

”Sister Wang,” Shen Yu stopped her. ”Could I trouble you to bring me a pen and paper?”

The head nurse paused for a moment.

”My hands are too weak,” Shen Yu pleaded. ”Could you help me write a few words? Please?”

After a long silence, the head nurse took a notebook and pen from her pocket and sat by the bed.

”Go ahead.”

Shen Yu stared at the ceiling, her vision blurring.

”...Dr. Jiang.”

”By the time you read this letter, I shouldn’t be in pain anymore. So, please don’t be sad, and don’t blame yourself.”

”You’ve been so tired lately. Every day, I watched you sit by my bedside, staying up with me. I saw you sneak into the stairwell in the middle of the night to cry. That hurt me more than any physical pain.”

”Dr. Jiang, growing old, getting sick, and dying are all a part of life. Some things, we just can’t change.”

”Being your wife, being able to Encounter you... I feel so, so incredibly lucky.”

”I still remember when we first met, how you clumsily lost your phone. I remember how every time I was upset, you’d buy me roasted sweet potatoes to apologize. And that mung bean cake stall near your university that I loved so much. And how we’d curl up at home while you forced me to watch all that anime with you.”

”Those were such wonderful days. Whenever I think back on them, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude.”

Shen Yu paused, a clear wave of pain hitting her.

The head nurse quickly pushed the button on the PCA pump. After waiting a while for the pain to subside, Shen Yu continued speaking.

”It’s just... I can’t bear to watch you wear yourself out like this any longer.”

”Dr. Jiang, you’re a good doctor. There are so many people out there waiting for you to save them. Promise me you won’t give up on yourself just because I’m gone.”

”When I’m not here anymore, you have to remember to eat on time. Don’t always stay up all night reading medical journals. When your stomach hurts, remember there’s medicine in the drawer. Don’t push yourself so hard all the time. Give yourself a break now and then.”

”Forget about me. It’s okay to forget me slowly. As time passes, find a healthy girl to be with you in my place and live a good life.”

”The thing I regret least in this life is marrying you.”

”Husband, I love you.”

”If there is a next life, I want to be with you for longer... much longer...”

The letter was long.

Shen Yu spoke very slowly.

Several times, the head nurse found herself unable to continue writing.

Finally, Shen Yu broke into a teary smile and said, ”Oh, right. At the end, don’t forget to help me draw a little handgun shooting out a heart... to shoot him dead...”

”Okay.”

Once the letter was finished, Shen Yu had the head nurse fold the paper and tuck it under her pillow.

Afterward, Jiang He returned.

As he pushed open the door, a breeze from outside blew in, and Shen Yu smiled.

...

A breeze blew past, and Shen Yu covered her face.

She couldn’t hold back her tears again.

’It was just a dream, but it felt so real.’

Even now, just thinking about it brought a wave of pain.

”So... is this a parallel universe? Or... have you dreamed of this too?”

She didn’t know how science could explain any of this.

But if Jiang He had dreamed it too, then everything would make sense.

’No wonder he put together a team, running experiments and publishing papers day and night.’

’No wonder he worked so hard, so desperately.’

At this moment, Shen Yu felt only one emotion: her heart ached for him. It ached so much.

’Now I finally know why I cried the first time I saw you. Was it the same for you?’

Shen Yu sat alone in the cold wind for a long time.

She didn’t stand up until the eastern sky began to show the first hint of dawn.

She pulled out her phone and glanced at the time.

Jiang He had said he would be coming over at the end of November for business.

That was just around the corner.

Back in her dorm room, Xu Juan was just waking up, rubbing her eyes as she sat up in bed.

”Shen Xiaoyu? Where were you so early in the morning?”

”Juanzi.”

”Hm? What’s up?”

”I want to buy something. I need your opinion.”

”What is it? Clothes or makeup?”

”A ring.”

Xu Juan froze, suddenly wide awake. ”What are you buying a ring for?”

”Jiang He is coming to the Capital City at the end of the month,” Shen Yu said calmly. ”I’m going to propose to him.”

”Huh?”

Xu Juan was dumbfounded.

Liu Xiaotian and Yan Tong also poked their heads out, looking at her like she was an idiot.

At that very moment, Shen Yu had no idea that two thousand kilometers away in Yangcheng, Jiang He had just stepped out of surgery and was also thinking about buying a ring.

What is perfect chemistry?

It’s probably when two idiots, each carrying the same heavy love, even manage to have the same idea to propose at the same time.
