I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 252: Chapter 167: Serious Investigation, No Leniency (Part 2)

Lin Zhenhua looked at Ma Huaide.

Ma Huaide had gone completely limp in his chair. Cold sweat trickled from his forehead, down his cheeks, and dripped onto his white coat.

”Just now, Dean Chen briefed me on the situation. This includes the data Vice Dean Zhang Sui collected, which cross-references the Medical Affairs Department’s scheduling, bed assignments, and records of pharmaceutical representative visits, as well as the practical issues reported by our colleagues present here.”

”The problems are severe, and their nature is egregious.”

”The provincial department is taking this matter very seriously. We will conduct a rigorous investigation into this behavior—privatizing public medical resources and weaponizing administrative power—and we will show no leniency.”

At the words ”rigorous investigation,” Ma Huaide closed his eyes.

He knew he was utterly finished.

This was no longer just an internal hospital disciplinary action, but a full-blown investigation directly initiated by the provincial department.

The shady accounts he’d been keeping for the past few years... they wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny at all.

Lin Zhenhua said,

”Our healthcare system is the last line of defense for the people’s lives and health. Within this system, we adhere to rules and regulations to save lives, not for internal strife and targeting people!”

”The provincial department and the hospital’s Party committee will always back every medical worker who does their job diligently and devotes themselves to saving lives. We will absolutely not tolerate any ’maggots’ running rampant in our ranks, nor will we let any hero who bleeds and sweats on the front lines shed tears of disillusionment in the rear!”

”Meeting adjourned.”

As Lin Zhenhua’s final two words fell, the conference room went silent for a brief second.

Then, someone started it, and a thunderous round of applause erupted.

The applause was long and sustained. Many of the attending physicians and head nurses who had been oppressed by the Medical Affairs Department clapped forcefully, venting their long-suppressed frustrations.

Amidst the applause, Ma Huaide’s face was ashen, as if all the strength had been drained from him.

’He knew perfectly well that what awaited him wasn’t just losing his job. There would be prison time... His life was over.’

From the moment Ma Huaide decided to target Jiang He to his complete mental collapse, less than 48 hours had passed.

Who knows if someone will break that record in the future...

The meeting ended.

The doors opened, and the department heads and head nurses walked out in twos and threes.

The atmosphere in the hallway was completely different from before the meeting. Everyone was happy.

”This is great! The provincial department is going to conduct a rigorous investigation.”

”That old dog Ma Huaide is finally done for. Vice Dean Zhang Sui always seems so cold, but when it mattered, he was ruthless with that data.”

”Serves him right! Always holding the schedule over our heads!”

The crowd dispersed, and the chatter slowly faded away.

Around the corner not far from the conference room door, Xu Chen, Han Yuan, and a few young residents had been waiting.

Seeing the looks of vindication on everyone’s faces as they came out, and hearing a few scattered comments, they immediately understood the outcome.

”We won!” one of the residents whispered, clenching his fist.

Although standing here hadn’t tangibly helped Jiang He, the sheer thrill of seeing justice triumph over evil and watching a villain fall still left them feeling exhilarated.

”This is great! Brother Jiang is okay!”

In her extreme excitement, Han Yuan suddenly turned and threw her arms around Xu Chen.

It was a hug of pure joy.

But—

Xu Chen instantly went stiff as a board.

”We won, we won!” Han Yuan said happily, patting Xu Chen on the back.

Xu Chen: ”Uh, ah, uh...”

Confused, Han Yuan lifted her head.

The atmosphere suddenly turned subtly quiet.

She just blinked, looking at Xu Chen.

His face was turning red at a visible rate.

”Why... why did you suddenly hug me...”

Han Yuan couldn’t help but smile.

After letting go, she leaned in slightly to look at him. ”What’s wrong, Dr. Bao Bing? Can’t handle a little hug? Or do you want me to let you hug me back?”

”N-No, that’s okay! I have to get back to the department to write my medical records!” Xu Chen fled in a panic, not even daring to look back.

Watching his retreating back, Han Yuan couldn’t help but let out a ”PFFT” of laughter, her happiness growing even more.

「Meanwhile, inside the main conference room.」

The crowd had already dispersed, leaving only a few core members behind.

Jiang He approached, with a trembling Meng Shiyu in tow.

Dean Chen, holding his goji berry tea mug, watched him with a smile.

Lin Zhenhua and Yang Xu were also standing nearby.

Zhang Sui was meticulously organizing the notebook and pen he had just used, placing them snugly back into his briefcase.

Once he was done, Zhang Sui turned to face Jiang He and said,

”Jiang He.”

”Vice Dean.”

”Ma Huaide of the Medical Affairs Department is suspected of using his position for personal gain. That is his violation, and the Disciplinary Committee will handle him. However, that does not mean your medical record charting from yesterday was acceptable.”

”One thing at a time,” Zhang Sui said. ”Your progress notes do indeed have multiple flaws. In your future clinical work, you must pay more attention to implementing regulations and try not to lower the quality of your medical documentation. Of course, the Medical Affairs Department will no longer be able to assign you such a heavy workload in the future.”

This was classic Zhang Sui: siding with reason, not relationships.

He had taken action against Ma Huaide today because Ma Huaide broke the rules, but that didn’t mean he approved of Jiang He’s refusal to amend the medical records.

The principles he upheld would not change for anyone, regardless of Jiang He’s skill or contributions.

Looking at the stubborn vice dean before him, Jiang He actually felt a stir of respect.

’The good leader from his past life’s memories—protective of his own, yet extremely principled—hadn’t changed one bit.’

”I understand, Vice Dean Zhang Sui. I will rewrite those fifteen medical records and ensure they meet SOP standards,” Jiang He promised with a nod.

Zhang Sui nodded, bid farewell to the minister, and left the conference room.

Watching him leave, Dean Chen and Yang Xu exchanged a glance and shook their heads helplessly.

’There’s just nothing you can do with a person like that...’

Lin Zhenhua smiled and clapped Jiang He on the shoulder. ”This Vice Dean Zhang of yours is a man of principle. Sometimes, you really do need someone like him to hold the line.”

”Indeed,” Jiang He agreed.

”Alright, with the miscellaneous matters settled, let’s talk business,” Lin Zhenhua said. ”I made a special trip here not just to clear the obstacles for you, but more importantly, to discuss the P3 laboratory.”

”The state has allocated special funds, so we can start preparing for procurement. As the technical lead, you need to have a clear idea of what equipment you’ll need.”

The moment Jiang He heard this, his eyes lit up.

’A clear idea? Man, I have a *very* clear idea!’

”Minister Lin! If we’re going to do reverse genetics, extract high-yield vaccine strains, and also leave redundant capacity for future miRNA early screening, then ordinary equipment definitely won’t cut it. We have to go top-of-the-line.”

Jiang He reeled off a string of names as if listing his family heirlooms:

”First, the core biological safety cabinet. We can’t use a standard domestic model; we need to order a Class III fully-enclosed glovebox isolator directly from Germany. Then there’s the flow cytometer, which has to be at least the latest FACS Aria II from BD Biosciences. And an ultra-low temperature freezer system, a large-capacity refrigerated centrifuge, and that new next-generation high-throughput sequencer that Illumina just released...”

The more Jiang He spoke, the more excited he became. ”Minister Lin, let’s find an office and discuss this in detail. I’ll draw up a list for you.”

Lin Zhenhua: ”?”

He looked at Jiang He’s sparkling eyes and had a very bad feeling.

’This kid... just how big of a budget is he planning to hit me with? Will the special funds from the state even be enough for his ambitions?’
