I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 190: Chapter 141: A-A Chaotic Scene?

「Three days later.」

Affiliated Hospital No. 1, VIP ward.

Jiang He gazed at the brilliant sunlight outside the window, a bitter feeling rising in his heart. He wanted to get out, but he couldn’t.

Because two police officers were stationed in the hallway outside his door, working in 24-hour shifts.

Lao Jiang—”Jailed Jiang”—had been suppressed by the combined efforts of Yang Xu and Lin Zhenhua...

Yang Xu had seen right through the kid. He knew that simply telling him to rest wouldn’t work; he had to use a special trick to make him rest.

So, Lin Zhenhua had ”invited” Jiang He into the VIP ward.

The police outside his door were ostensibly there to protect an important researcher.

In reality, they were there to supervise him—to make sure the kid didn’t run off to do more research!

Yesterday, Jiang He had tentatively tried the doorknob.

The moment he pulled the door open a crack, the officers outside immediately stood up and saluted. ”Dr. Jiang, do you need something? Just say the word, and we’ll get it for you.”

Jiang He was speechless.

He could only retreat back into his room.

Still, the three days of rest had indeed allowed his body to recover significantly.

Yesterday afternoon, the director of orthopedics had come personally to remove his cast.

This made Jiang He feel much better.

Freed from the trouble of his leg injury, his mood had improved considerably.

He lay back down on the bed, picked up his phone, and started replying to messages and reading the news.

The most difficult period was over.

Over these three days, Yangcheng had demonstrated a terrifyingly effective mobilization capability and response speed.

Shu Yuelong’s team had worked through the night on the seed strain Jiang He provided, and the new clinical rescue protocol was gradually being implemented by all hospitals.

Ultra-early intubation, low tidal volume ventilation, and high-dose infusions of the specific drug.

With this combination of treatments, although a very small number of critical patients like Old Lin—who had poor underlying conditions and excessively high viral loads—didn’t make it...

...the vast majority of the infected were pulled back from the brink.

Large numbers of patients with mild cases, after receiving treatment in designated quarantine hospitals, tested negative for the virus and had already begun to be discharged to continue observation at home.

The conditions of most severe patients had also stabilized, and the immense pressure on the healthcare system was greatly relieved.

The entire incident caused a huge sensation nationwide.

Major media outlets were lavishing praise on the Yangcheng CDC system and the Provincial Health Department.

”Yangcheng Speed,” ”A Textbook Response to a Public Health Emergency.”

Looking at these headlines,

Jiang He knew that Director Lin Zhenhua must be ecstatic.

’A promotion? More like a promotion to the Ministry!’

He scrolled through the news a bit more, then opened his text messages.

The one at the very top was from Wang Kuan.

[Jiang He, I heard about what happened in Yangcheng.]

[To be honest, I never would have thought you had such deep knowledge of respiratory diseases. I heard you were the one who spotted the signs early? Jiang He, you get a big thumbs-up from me.]

[If I’d known you were this capable, I should have just thrown twenty million, or even two hundred million, at you to lock you down! What a pity!]

[Anyway, Jiang He, in our line of work, we’re always out at the mines. Eight or nine out of ten of the guys working under me have bad lungs—bronchitis, pneumoconiosis, even lung cancer. You see it all the time.]

[Seeing how much you accomplished in Yangcheng, if you ever get a chance to come up north, could you swing by and take a look at a few important people on my end? Just a check-up. If you’re willing to help, I’ll definitely make it worth your while.]

Jiang He stared at the screen for a moment.

The north, coal mines, severe respiratory diseases.

It was, indeed, a major pain point in the country’s current medical field.

His fingers flew across the keyboard as he replied: [My studies and projects are all in Southern China right now, so I can’t get away anytime soon. If I get a chance to go north in the future, I can take a look.]

After sending the text, Jiang He poured himself a glass of warm water.

He suddenly recalled the phone call with his parents.

His parents had seen the news on TV about the respiratory disease outbreak in Yangcheng.

The two of them had been frantic with worry, calling him late at night to check on him.

They had no idea what world-shaking things their son had accomplished in the city.

They just repeatedly reminded Jiang He to drink plenty of water, stay indoors, be careful, and not get sick.

He lay down and rested for a few minutes.

A conversation could be heard from outside the door.

Jiang He paid it no mind.

He’d had frequent visitors over the past few days.

Xu Chen, for example.

Xu Chen’s performance in the emergency department had been truly impressive.

After finishing the suturing on the night of the car accident, the once-arrogant top student seemed to have had a major breakthrough, as if he’d opened his Ren and Du Meridians.

During this outbreak, he had volunteered to stay on the front lines in the ER, helping Zhao Yumin manage the triage of a large number of mild cases.

Lu Xiaolin and Gu Yizhou hadn’t been idle either.

With most surgeries at Affiliated Hospital No. 1 suspended, the two of them had volunteered to take over the post-operative care of patients in the surgical ward.

With the severe shortage of nurses, these two young people shouldered the complex tasks of changing dressings, removing stitches, and monitoring vital signs, ensuring nothing went wrong on the back end.

Even Chen Hao, while helping maintain order in the outpatient clinic, had been given a big opportunity.

An attending physician who had taken a liking to him wanted to mentor him.

After getting the patient’s consent, and with the attending taking full responsibility, he had guided Chen Hao through his first real-life debridement and suturing.

After finishing, Chen Hao had supposedly fired off a dozen messages to Juanzi before remaining steadfastly at his post...

Everyone had played their part in their own way.

Jiang He watched the leaves outside the window sway in the wind, his heart calm.

’It feels good, knowing I was never fighting this battle alone.’

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

The sound of knocking broke Jiang He out of his thoughts.

”Come in.”

The door was pushed open, but no footsteps entered.

No one spoke.

Jiang He turned and saw someone standing in the doorway of his room.
