I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 167: Chapter 131: Teacher Shen, I Like You

Following his train of thought, Jiang He continued, ”And... I want to be in a relationship with you. I want to be your boyfriend.”

Before Shen Yu could answer, Jiang He spoke again:

”But as for that, don’t say yes yet. I won’t allow you to say yes right now.”

”Because I still owe you a proper confession. I don’t want you to think my feelings are impulsive, or just something I blurted out in a hotel room. I want to confess to you formally, somewhere sunny and beautiful.”

”The reason I’m telling you all this tonight is because I just couldn’t hold back my feelings for you any longer. I see how good you’ve been to me, and I just wanted to make my intentions perfectly clear, to let you know.”

Jiang He paused, a trace of apology in his tone. ”If anything I’ve said tonight has made you feel pressured... I’m sorry.”

His words faded, and the room fell completely silent.

Shen Yu didn’t answer for a long time.

Lying in his bed, Jiang He felt a pang of nervousness he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

This nervousness was even more intense than what he’d felt when he performed his first lead surgery in his past life.

’What am I so nervous about?’ he wondered. ’Am I afraid she’ll find this too sudden? Afraid of shattering the comfortable boundary we had? Or am I just scared of losing her?’

The seconds ticked by.

Finally, Shen Yu’s voice came from the other bed. ”Mm, I understand.”

Her voice was placid, betraying no hint of emotion.

Jiang He froze for a second.

He turned his head, trying to make out Shen Yu’s expression in the darkness, but all he could see was a vague silhouette.

’It’s impossible to tell... what does ”I understand” even mean?’

’Is that acceptance? Rejection? Or is she just brushing me off?’

Feeling completely at a loss, he could only smile wryly to himself and say no more.

Meanwhile, on the other bed, Shen Yu, her back turned to Jiang He, had her hands clamped tightly over her face.

If the lights had been on, Jiang He would have seen that she was blushing from her cheeks all the way down to her neck!

’That was perfect!’

’Jiang He’s little speech just now hit every single one of her sweet spots!’

’She loved guys who were this direct—no mind games, no beating around the bush. If he liked her, he said it!’

’But at the same time, he showed absolute propriety and respect. He knew confessing in a hotel would seem cheap, so he left the final choice and, most importantly, the sense of occasion for later.’

’How could such a perfect guy even exist?!’

Shen Yu was screaming internally. ’I like him so, so, so much! I can’t take it anymore!’

The only reason she had responded in such an even tone was because she didn’t dare say another word.

She was afraid that if she did, her uncontrollable blush and the massive grin she couldn’t wipe off her face would give everything away!

’Must. Maintain. Composure!’

She lay under the covers for a long time, waiting for the overwhelming wave of shyness to recede.

Following Jiang He’s lead, Shen Yu started toying with the ring on her finger.

In truth, after Jiang He’s confession, the last shred of doubt in her heart had completely vanished.

’He was the one. She was going to spend the rest of her life with this man.’

She also loved the pacing Jiang He had set. Taking things slow would make their relationship feel more dignified and deliberate, rather than just an impulsive, hormone-fueled fling.

It made her feel incredibly secure.

’That’s what her rational mind was telling her... but the problem was, she really, really wanted to be close to him right now!’

’Two people who like each other, in the same room, with the mood set just right... who could possibly stand it?’

’Could anyone in this situation really be good and just sleep in their separate beds until morning? Surely not, right?’

A fierce battle raged in Shen Yu’s mind, like a cartoon angel and devil fighting on her shoulders.

In the end, her heart won out. She rationalized her logic: ’Jiang He is my future husband. That much is set in stone.’

’That being the case, as long as I don’t cross any major lines, doing a few little things we’ve ”done before” shouldn’t be going too far, right?’

’Like... asking for a hug?’

Once she had built herself that mental stepping stone, Teacher Shen immediately sprang into action.

”ACHOO—”

A sudden sneeze echoed in the quiet room.

Then, she stuck a hand out from under the covers to rub her nose, her voice a calculated blend of sleepiness, soft vulnerability, and pitiful grievance:

”What’s going on... Dr. Jiang, I’m suddenly so cold.”
