Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1491 - 470: Meticulous Preparation, Jackals and Corrupt Officials, The Uprising Begins

Caiqiu Calendar, Year 299, October 27, Midnight

To the north of Qingwu Village, still in the basement of that private house.

”Clink clank clink clank...”

More than thirty masked men in black entered one after another from outside the door. Each of them carried two large black bundles. Despite walking on tiptoes, the bundles still emitted a crisp sound of iron clashing.

”Be careful, don’t alert anyone.”

”What are you afraid of? At the end of the rice harvest season, with Zhang Long pressing closer and closer, almost everyone who can move in the village is sleeping at this hour, no one’s awake.”

”Makes sense. During the first two hours of the night and the daytime, everyone is busy harvesting rice. It’s indeed impossible for anyone to be awake. Let’s go in first!”

”Put everything down.”

......

The leading middle-aged man came in, first putting his bundles on the ground, signaling others to put down theirs as he removed the mask from his face.

The others also put down their bundles and then removed their masks.

The middle-aged man was no other than Hong Xicheng, the Frost Ash Association Qingwu Branch Leader; the remaining 36 people were the core members of the Qingwu Branch.

Hong Xicheng did not speak; instead, he patiently opened the seventy-two bundles one by one. As the bundles were opened, the swords, strong bows, and war armor gradually came into everyone’s view.

Though the room was only dimly lit by firelight, the brand-new swords and war armor still shone brightly under its reflection.

That brightness made the breaths of the thirty-seven people instantly heavy.

Hong Xicheng was the first to suppress his excitement, taking a slight breath and then turning to face everyone: ”A total of 37 sets of Thousand Forged Armor; 20 Strong Bows with Three-maned pull, accompanied by 2000 Iron Arrows; 37 Ten Thousand Forged Great Blades; and 1000 Thousand Forged Level Swords.”

They were indeed about to do something big!

After hearing about the number of swords and war armor in the bundles, the thought instantly emerged in the minds of the thirty-six people below, causing internal tremors.

The Six-class System implemented by the Four Vassals of Moao River comes with extremely strict control measures for swords and war armor corresponding to the class.

Not to mention war armor, for anyone below military status, without possessing armor documentation, even privately hiding just one set of Thousand Forged Armor, once discovered, is punishable by death; if the amount exceeds 10 sets, not only the individual but the entire family will be implicated; more than 100 sets means total extermination of the family.

Chen Cang refers to bows with more than 1-maned pull as Strong Bows. Since bows are necessary tools for hunting, the control is slightly lenient. People of the third class and above can freely buy and sell them, but there are restrictions on the number kept;

The restrictions on weapons are about the same as with bows and arrows. Normally, Cold Resistance Level Thousand Forged weapons for commoners see no oversight as long as the number isn’t too large. Ten Thousand Forged weapons are restricted; commoners can own a maximum of five, and owning more than five without reporting to the Subordinate Bureau is a serious crime upon verification.

Since Chen Cang is also one of the Four Vassals, the rules are naturally almost identical.

From these restrictive rules, it can be seen that among the six classes, only the civilian, military, noble, and clan classes are considered regular people by the ruling class of the Four Vassals, while those of slave status and lowly status are not within their considerations.

Qingwu Village is a Slave Village. Although these people have Cold Resistance Level Cultivation, ultimately they are still nameless slaves under the Subordinate Bureau.

In fact, they all have Thousand Forged weapons. After all, the Subordinate Bureau relies on them to go out for hunting and gathering, so it’s not possible to withhold them strictly. However, those weapons are not their personal property but are uniformly issued by the Subordinate Bureau. When hunting and gathering activities are normal, the Subordinate Bureau usually does not take them back, but in special situations or if they perceive anything, the Subordinate Bureau will immediately reclaim all weapons.

In other words, the weapons and armor presently before them are undoubtedly contraband. If discovered by someone from the Subordinate Bureau, it would mean death.

When they retrieved the bundles at Windless Valley just now, everyone already had a rough idea, but now with the bright weapons right before them, the impact on their hearts was undoubtedly greater.

”At this point, we have no retreat. The Qingwu Branch has been in development for nearly ten years. You 36 people are the absolute core backbone. I will now disclose to you the detailed steps for this uprising...”

From Hong Xicheng’s slightly trembling tone, it was clear that the branch leader’s heart was not calm at the moment either.

”Now, I will distribute these war armor and weapons to you based on the numbers you reported earlier.

The rice harvesting period hasn’t ended, so for the next couple of days the Subordinate Bureau will continue to call us to the rice fields as usual.

During the day only we with Cold Resistance Level can go there, with so few people, taking anything might expose us, so forget about it.

It will be different at night. The rice harvesting fields need a lot of coal stone, and every night, many coal carts will go there. You should start deploying upon returning, disassemble all the weapons and armor, and hide them inside the coal carts to be taken over. Anyway, it’s our own people handling the coal, so take the weapons secretly and hide them in the rice fields at that time.

Remember, you only have the next two days to transport the weapons. You must complete it within those two days...”

As Hong Xicheng detailed the clever method for transporting weapons, the eyes of everyone below instantly brightened, and their previously anxious hearts eased considerably.

Although Hong Xicheng only spoke about transporting weapons, they could already infer the general deployment for this uprising:

The location of the uprising is in the rice fields, and the specific time is the night of October 30.
