Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1454 - 462: Copper Bone Corpse Demon, Heart-Stopping and Deadly Escape, Trial Interlude, Treacherous Clouds and Waves_5

The Cai Family customarily used swords; Cai Shiqin and Cai Zizheng were no exception. Both held silver Longswords, and while still in midair they locked onto the Red-maned Tigers’ heads, their dozens of manes surging with brute force as they drove them, sword tips suddenly plunging down.

Whoosh......

However, the speed of captain Cai Shiyan was a bit faster than the two of them.

Cai Shiyan was also holding a silver Longsword. He attacked from the front, his blade tracing out a streak of silver light in the air as it stabbed straight into the remaining left eye of the Red-maned Tiger on the left.

Pfft......

Cai Shiyan withdrew as soon as he landed the blow, without the slightest hesitation.

At the same time, Cai Shiqin and Cai Zizheng’s Longswords also split open the skulls of the middle and right Red-maned Tigers. The two likewise imitated Cai Shiyan, retreating as soon as they succeeded, backing off more than ten meters.

The three Red-maned Tigers thrashed in place, struggling for a good ten-odd breaths. When their last breath of life finally broke off, they could only whimper and collapse to the ground.

”Hoo......”

Cai Shiyan let out a small breath, then strode forward and sliced open the heads of the three Red-maned Tigers one by one, extracting a total of 38 Blood Jade Pearls from within.

”Another 38. It’s only the second day of the trial, and we’ve already piled up 163 of them, even if they’re all low quality...”

Cai Shiyan opened up the pouch at his waist. Looking at the half bag of Blood Jade Pearls inside, his face showed not much joy. After glancing around at the crowd, he continued, ”We’ll stick to the distribution rules from when we set out: Shiqin and I are the strongest, we each take one-tenth. Zizheng takes half of one-tenth. The rest are split evenly among everyone else!”

He finished speaking and didn’t wait for everyone to respond. He directly opened the pouch, took out 32 Blood Jade Pearls, and split them evenly between himself and Cai Shiqin; then he took out another 8 and handed them to Cai Zizheng; in the end he passed the remaining 120 to Cai Zizheng, letting him give each of the 40 people in the team 3 pearls.

Cai Zizheng accepted the pouch and started distributing it to the remaining 40 team members.

”We finally get to share some Blood Jade Pearls!”

Among the twenty-some people who had just been hauling on the ropes, the four Su siblings with Su Xing’er were also conspicuously among them. Seeing that Cai Zizheng had already begun handing out Blood Jade Pearls, thick anticipation showed on all four of their faces. The second brother, Su Xu, couldn’t help speaking up on the spot.

Su Xing’er was the same; staring at the Blood Jade Pearls, her eyes were full of longing.

They had arrived at the Trial Zone Camp in the second half of the night on the first day of the eleventh month. After arriving they’d almost done no resting at all, only been informed of the general rules and some things to watch out for, and then the trial had started directly.

Right now it was already daytime on the third, which meant the trial had been going on for almost two days.

In these two days, under Cai Shiyan’s lead, they had taken down a total of ten Intermediate Blood Cold Beasts. The result could already be considered quite good.

”Anyone who wants to fight for a ranking in the trial, keep all your Blood Jade Pearls on you. When we return to the Trial Camp, we can convert them to points for the ranking. Going by previous years, you need at least 1000 points to have a shot at the top ten and the reward, so if your strength’s too weak, there’s no point. Better to use them to improve yourselves first, so we can raise our efficiency for the hunts later...”

Hearing Cai Shiyan’s words, Su Xing’er immediately shook her head inwardly.

Since it was a trial, of course there would be rankings. The person in charge had already told them that the night they arrived at the Trial Camp.

”One low-quality Blood Jade Pearl is worth 1 point. Looking at the last two days, all 43 of us together have only gotten 163 points total, not even an average of 4 points per person. If we keep this pace for the next two months, we’ll end up with just over a hundred points at best. There’s no way we’ll hit the rankings.

But Cai Shiyan will definitely figure something out, and Sister Shiqin also has a chance. It’s just a question of what methods they use later...”

While Su Xing’er was still mulling this over, Cai Zizheng was already carrying the pouch over to the four siblings.

When Cai Zizheng approached, the expressions on Su Xing’er and her three elder brothers’ faces had already turned slightly dark.

For no other reason than that they’d noticed Cai Zizheng had finished distributing to everyone else and had obviously, deliberately left the four of them for last.

”17-maned, 13-maned, 12-maned, 12-maned. Young Prince, forgive me for speaking bluntly, but these four are a bit too weak. If we give them each 3 pearls, I’m afraid the brothers might not accept it...”

As soon as Cai Zizheng finished, several voices of agreement immediately rose from the team:

”Yeah, their strongest one is just 17-maned. They’re obviously dragging us down!”

”Giving them 3 each really doesn’t make sense.”

”If you ask me, we might as well give those 3 to the Young Prince and let him shoot for an even higher ranking.”

”Exactly! The four of them have trash aptitudes. No need to waste it on them.”

.........

Hearing the crowd, Su Xing’er’s face instantly sank.

The same went for the three Su Jing beside her.

At the county mansion gate when they formed the team, and even before setting out from the Trial Camp, these people hadn’t said a word. Now that it was time to split the spoils, they suddenly started targeting them.

The key point was that when they’d been hauling the ropes just now, the four of them had also gone all out.

A clear flicker of temptation flashed across Cai Shiyan’s face; he seemed about to say something, but before he could open his mouth, Cai Shiqin beat him to it.

”Young Prince, back at the county mansion gate the day before yesterday, you personally said it was fine to bring Xing’er and the other three along. When we arrived at the Trial Camp that night, the rules for dividing spoils were also laid out very clearly in advance. Changing the terms now and refusing to give Xing’er and the others their share—doesn’t that seem inappropriate?”

Hearing the firmness in Cai Shiqin’s tone, Cai Shiyan’s brows sank slightly. He waved at Cai Zizheng and gave a cold snort. ”The trial’s only just begun. What we’re getting now is nothing but drizzle. Once our targets get stronger and stronger later, it won’t be so easy for anyone to fish in troubled waters!”
