Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 687: Chapter 285: Two Families Stir, What Does the White Dew Gu Want to Defend?

Since Xia Hong insisted, Chen Peng and the others didn’t have much to say. After clasping their hands in salute, they jumped down from the tree and walked north toward Wushuang.

Xia Hong turned his head to look toward Yangyuan Peak to the south, his expression slightly shifting.

”Attracting a large number of Cold Beasts here without causing trouble for the surrounding camps means the purpose is to make this place an impasse, preventing others from approaching. The Cold Beasts serve a protective role. What exactly are you trying to protect?”

......

The 48th year of Longyou, June 20th

After nightfall, on the outskirts of Longshan Camp

A thousand-strong army, ready to set off, guarded ten giant iron four-wheeled carts, forming a line over two hundred meters long.

To the east of the camp’s perimeter, there was a road cleared just a few days ago, suitable for the four-wheeled carts to proceed.

Capital Commandant Zhou Yuan stood at the front of the line, giving instructions aloud.

At the back of the line, Yang Zhong and Li Hu stood side by side, glancing at the hundred large wooden crates loaded on the ten carts, exchanging a look of inscrutable intent.

”Alright, let’s move out!”

Finally, Zhou Yuan finished his instructions, and with an order, the frontmost team began pushing the carts forward, followed by the rest, one after the other.

Ninth team, Yang Zhong and Li Hu, along with twenty others, walked to the front of the four-wheeled to attach themselves with ropes slung over their shoulders, then started pulling with all their might.

”Held back for ten days just for some training, huh?”

”Originally, it was said that the Second Army would escort them, but Commandant Zhou Yuan decided that our Fourth Army, having just formed, was more suitable for this not-too-difficult mission. It’s a good opportunity to train us and also intimidate Hou Hu a little.”

”Intimidate Hou Hu? It’s obvious these are Hundred Forged Level weapon war armors being escorted. As I heard, Hou Hu has already defected to us in Longshan, and these weapons are sent from our camp to them.”

”I figured as much. What does Zhaoyang have to fight us Longshan with? Their defection to us is only a matter of time. Tsk, tsk, these Hundred Forged Level weapons and armors were just issued to the new army and now so many are sent to them at once.”

......

Hearing the whispers in the ranks, both Li Hu and Yang Zhong sighed slightly.

Five days ago, upon discovering that the contents of the crates were to be sent to White Abyss, they immediately sent Xue Ping to inform Great Xia.

But who would’ve thought, over the past five days, rumors in Longshan have been spreading more and more. Even the news of Hou Hu defecting to Longshan reached them.

Upon learning this, their first instinct was to inform Great Xia. The problem was, Xue Ping left and never returned, and they couldn’t find anyone else.

It’s not that they had bad relations; it was mainly Li Yuanqing and Yang Gan who were causing trouble. Normally, few dared approach them, and finding someone as trustworthy as Xue Ping was nearly impossible.

”The news about Hou Hu defecting to Longshan is likely true. A few days ago, I saw people from Zhaoyang Camp in the military camp. Although they were far away, their attire made it almost certain. We must find a way to get this message to the Minister.”

Listening to Yang Zhong’s whisper, Li Hu first nodded, but then a hint of helplessness appeared in his eyes. He bowed his head and said softly, ”As for the previous two messages, we still don’t know if Xue Ping managed to deliver them to Great Xia. This new message will be even harder to convey.”

”While in the base, we can’t leave the camp, but outside it’s different. On the road, there’ll certainly be opportunities. We just need one of us to leave the ranks.”

Li Hu nodded and whispered, ”Zhou Yuan just mentioned that the destination is at the border between Changning and White Abyss, over thirty kilometers away, expected to take more than five hours. We’ll definitely have a chance en route.”

Strictly speaking, White Abyss is located in the middle of Longyou, with Longshan to the east adjacent to Changning, and then further east lies White Abyss.

Such an important batch of supplies won’t have Zhaoyang waiting for them to be delivered inside the White Abyss base. The territory of Changning is narrow from north to south, and only around ten kilometers from east to west, not too wide. Hou Hu will surely dispatch a large force from White Abyss to meet them in Changning’s territory.

”I hope Xue Ping has already communicated the message to the Minister. I just realized through this shipment that it pretty much reveals Zhaoyang and Longshan’s current plans. Once the Minister knows, they’ll surely devise a response!”

Li Hu pondered silently, a flash of urgency crossing his eyes.
