Forced to Sell Myself to the Female Lead After Killing the Male Lead

‘Th-This... how... how... how could... this happen?’

Staring at the bloody hole in her chest and feeling the life force continuously draining from his body, Xue Tianao’s increasingly dim eyes were filled with disbelief...

I...

I’m the Child of Destiny. How could I... fall here...

However,

before Xue Tianao could fully comprehend reality, the black-haired girl before him slowly raised her hand under his despairing gaze and gently snapped her fingers.

The next moment, the Blood Butterflies swarmed forward once more, frantically devouring Xue Tianao’s flesh and blood.

In truth,

the Blood Butterflies had been gnawing away at Xue Tianao all along. However, thanks to the support of divine power, whatever parts they devoured would rapidly regenerate.

But now? Without that formidable regenerative ability, Xue Tianao’s flesh began disappearing at a rate visible to the naked eye, swallowed bite by bite by the Blood Butterflies...

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!”

Without the protection of divine power, the agony Xue Tianao endured naturally could no longer be compared to what he had suffered before.

In an instant, heart-rending, bloodcurdling screams erupted from his throat.

However, those miserable screams soon vanished entirely.

Because in the blink of an eye, Xue Tianao’s tongue had been devoured by the Blood Butterflies.

And it wasn’t merely his tongue. Every part of Xue Tianao’s body was being rapidly consumed. In only an instant, the once imposing and strikingly handsome Child of Destiny had been reduced to a crimson skeleton. Even that skeleton, beneath the relentless devouring of the Blood Butterflies, was soon reduced to nothing.

Meanwhile, Xue Tianao’s consciousness gradually sank into darkness amid an overwhelming flood of negative emotions—despair, terror, regret, unwillingness...

As the final fragment of Xue Tianao’s skull turned to ash,

the surroundings around Miss Yumo finally returned to tranquility.

The countless Blood Butterflies filling the sky disintegrated one after another, transforming into crimson particles that scattered across the heavens before finally vanishing with the wind. The terrifying fluctuations of Shadow of Silence Power that had permeated the entire Imperial Capital and left countless people trembling in fear also dissipated, finally freeing them from that suffocating pressure.

The aftershock of the violent crimson power even surged straight into the heavens, completely dispersing the thick smoke that had blanketed the sky and obscured the sun.

One hour after the Abyss Demon horde launched its all-out assault, brilliant sunlight once again shone upon the lands of Skyvault.

However,

the Skyvault of this moment no longer possessed any of the prosperity or beauty it had enjoyed an hour earlier. The entire city was shrouded in an overwhelming tide of negative emotions such as fear and despair. Ruined walls and collapsed buildings were everywhere, along with mangled corpses and bloody remains. The bodies of Skyvault’s defenders and Abyss Demons could be found almost everywhere, while raging flames burned in every direction.

It was nothing less than a painting of hell...

Its former glory was gone...

...

And as the golden divine power disappeared,

along with Xue Tianao’s death,

the world around Miss Yumo finally returned to tranquility. At the same time, Miss Yumo’s heart also regained its calm.

Once that repulsive, overwhelmingly dense aura of divine power disappeared, the strange whispers echoing within Yumo’s mind abruptly ceased. The bizarre black mist enveloping the girl’s heart also vanished without a trace. The urge to slaughter and destroy disappeared, and her former rationality reclaimed its place.

The bloodlust and brutality within the black-haired girl’s eyes were gradually replaced by that familiar gentleness and innocence.

The terrifying Abyss Demon girl who had casually raised her hand and annihilated the Child of Destiny moments ago had once again returned to her cute, harmless-looking young-lady mode.

And the instant she returned to normal, Miss Yumo stared at the empty space before her and the vast, unobstructed sky, then suddenly furrowed her brows. Her crimson eyes were filled with complete bewilderment.

??

I...

I... What was I...

doing...?

Wasn’t... the Child of Destiny...? Didn’t that Xue Tianao guy suddenly attack me? Where did he go?

Yumo couldn’t help asking herself.

And as she pondered this, everything that had just happened rapidly replayed through Yumo’s mind like a slideshow. The missing portion of her memories was instantly restored.

And the instant those memories returned, Miss Yumo’s eyes abruptly contracted.

‘Huh?!’

?!!

“Huh?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I...

I...

I killed Xue Tianao?!

I... I... I-I-I killed that Child of Destiny?!!

Th-This... this... this has to be... some kind of jooooooooooooooooooke!!!

At this moment, the black-haired girl uncontrollably let out a frantic scream inside her heart. Almost unwilling to accept reality, she raised both hands and tightly clutched her head. Her breathtaking crimson eyes trembled continuously, filled with helplessness and utter panic.

‘What... What the hell... did I do...’

Xue Tianao?

To tell the truth, Yumo absolutely despised him. The thought of grinding his bones to dust had crossed her mind more than once.

But no matter what, Miss Yumo had never actually decided to kill him. After all, Xue Tianao was the Child of Destiny, the ‘male protagonist’ of this world. If he died, who was supposed to fight the Abyss Demons in the future? Mengxi alone?

Although Yumo was extremely satisfied with Mengxi’s strength and rate of growth, relying on her alone at her current level to complete the trial and ultimately kill Yumo was still nothing more than a pipe dream...

To complete the trial, the combined efforts of the protagonist group were indispensable.

Miss Yumo had always believed this.

Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this Abyss Demon invasion had never been to kill Xue Tianao. Instead, Yumo wanted to use this catastrophic defeat to spur the Child of Destiny forward, forcing him to recognize the cruelty of the world, understand the importance of companions, and realize exactly how capable he truly was...

Through setbacks, the protagonist who had enjoyed smooth sailing his entire life would be tempered and become more mature; through the overwhelming suppression of absolute power, Xue Tianao would be forced to break through his own limits and reach the Eighth Tier.

Of course, teaching Xue Tianao a lesson and venting some of her personal resentment was also one of the key reasons Yumo had approved Xiao’s operation.

But what Yumo had wanted...

was merely to teach him a lesson...

Not to literally grind his bones to dust...

“H-How... how... how did this happen...”

Lowering her head and staring at her own hands, Yumo’s voice began to tremble. A profound sense of powerlessness filled the girl’s heart. The thought that she had painstakingly waited for the Child of Destiny for more than five hundred years, only for him to finally appear and then accidentally get slapped to death by her, left Yumo with indescribably complicated feelings.

When she had seen Limo and Liyu appear on the battlefield earlier, she had even worried that those two girls would lose control and kill the Child of Destiny.

And the result?

In the end, those two children hadn’t lost control at all. They had been extremely ‘well-behaved’ and let the Child of Destiny escape?

And what about her?

She actually...

If she’d known this would happen, she never would’ve deliberately rushed over here in the first place, waaah...

For a moment, the girl’s heart was overflowing with regret.

But aside from regret, Yumo was also deeply worried. After all, now that the Child of Destiny was gone, wouldn’t the chances of successfully completing the trial plummet? Could it even have already failed?

And if it really had failed, what exactly would happen...?

That so-called terrifying event?

What exactly was it?

“AAAAAAAAAH! This is so damn annoyingggggggg!”

Miss Yumo repeatedly shook her head from side to side, letting out one miserable wail after another in utter frustration.

...

...

After spending some time clutching her head and ‘crying,’ the anguish and regret in Yumo’s heart gradually subsided.

Xue Tianao’s death was already an established fact. No matter how much she regretted it, she couldn’t change reality.

The Child of Destiny was already gone.

If she couldn’t change it, then she could only accept it. Regret was meaningless, so all she could do was think about how to salvage the situation...

And now that the Child of Destiny no longer existed, the only person in the entire world who possessed divine power and had the ability to complete the trial was Mengxi.

In other words,

Mengxi’s importance had just skyrocketed even further...

If Yumo still wanted to complete the trial now, she would have to devote all of her energy and resources to nurturing Mengxi, cultivating this sole remaining Chosen One.

After all, Mengxi was probably her final hope...

Hm?

Wait?!

Mengxi?

Huh?! Right! Mengxi?!!

The moment she thought of Mengxi, Miss Yumo suddenly realized an extremely serious problem.

Just now, she seemed to have... lost control right in front of Mengxi?!

Which meant...

‘I used Shadow of Silence Power in front of that girl?!’

I...

While posing as the Young Lady of the Black Rose Family, I used Shadow of Silence Power right in front of the Child of Destiny?!

I...

How the hell am I supposed to explain this?!

At that thought, Yumo unconsciously held her breath, her crimson eyes trembling continuously as her heart became overwhelmed with anxiety...

No.

Not necessarily.

The power that erupted just now was so overwhelming that maybe Mengxi had already been knocked unconscious by the shockwave?

With that thought, Yumo couldn’t help clinging to one final shred of hope.

The black-haired girl pulled herself free from her tangled thoughts and somewhat nervously turned to look behind her...

Unfortunately,

reality proved that Miss Yumo had been thinking far too optimistically.

Mengxi hadn’t fainted at all.

Instead, she was silently sitting atop the ruins, quietly staring at Yumo.

Then, unsurprisingly, the two girls’ gazes met just like that...

‘I’m... I’m screwed...’

Without even realizing it, a bead of cold sweat slowly trickled down Miss Yumo’s forehead...

How am I supposed to explain this now?
