A Foodie Transmigrated into the Palace

Chapter 1536

Days outside the palace pass by quickly.

In the following days, Lin Siyin couldn’t stay idle for a moment.

She wandered around all the mountains near the palace.

Although the mountains in the north aren’t as rich in resources as those in the south, and there’s no particularly valuable herbs on the mountain, not even ordinary ones as they have been picked clean by the nearby villagers.

But she was still very happy.

And happier than when she picked a century-old ginseng in Guangnan.

Possibly because she had her beloved by her side.

Or maybe because she hadn’t been outside for so long, even seeing barren mountains could make her happy.

Of course.

The most likely reason is... Zhao Qichen’s excellent archery skills caught several fat mountain chickens and wild rabbits, allowing her the privilege of tasting the mountain’s wild game.

On this day, they went up the mountain.

Before she saw anything, Zhao Qichen already had a serious expression as he drew his bow and shot an arrow.

A sudden whoosh, and a distant animal scream was heard from the snow-covered patch of dead grass.

She was stunned, and quickly ran over to check.

In the snow, a grey-furred wild rabbit had already fallen to the ground, with an arrow through its heart, the warm blood still slightly steaming.

”Wow... From such a distance! You could hit that?”

Zhao Qichen squinted slightly, the corners of his lips curving into a confident smile.

”What’s this?”

If you can’t hit a target as big as a rabbit.

His teacher, General Shi, would be angry enough to nag him again, preaching about how on the battlefield, there’s only waiting for death.

Thinking of General Shi getting old.

He planned to visit him personally after the New Year, and also see Yue Er.

But at this moment.

Seeing the astonishment on the little woman’s face in front of him, he found it amusing.

”What? Do you want to try?”

Lin Siyin quickly shook her head.

”Try what? I don’t know how to shoot arrows!”

Growing up, she had no teacher to teach her, her grandfather only taught her how to pick herbs and read prescriptions. Nothing else...

As she was thinking, Zhao Qichen already drew another bow.

After two quick swishes, a wild chicken fell from the hidden tree perch.

The not-very-large arrows landed squarely in its wings, and blood dripped down its feathers.

”It’s alive!”

”The rabbit just now didn’t go well; it died!”

Zhao Qichen said lightly.

Lin Siyin’s mind was exploding.

’Just now it didn’t go well? This one did???’

Oh my, her husband... Could he be Houyi reborn, this archery skill is just too...

The key is, his eyesight seems to be better than hers.

Chickens and rabbits, she hadn’t seen a shadow of them, okay??

”Um... Emperor!”

”I think if you hunt like this, the little animals on this mountain won’t need to live!”

”Maybe we should... pick herbs instead!”

Zhao Qichen gave her a gentle smile.

”What herbs? Whatever you want, just get it from the Imperial Pharmacy!”

”There’s nothing here, the villagers have picked it all clean!”

Lin Siyin was a bit perplexed.

”Then don’t the villagers go hunting too?” Meaning, how do you still catch prey?

Zhao Qichen laughed brightly.

”Their skills are basic, naturally nothing to mention!”

”Alright, I’ll accompany you to look at the snow scenery on the mountain, then we’ll go back!”

Lin Siyin: ”...”

Fine, your skills are superior, you make the call!

Thinking about having rare wild game to eat, she regained her spirits.

Boldly followed Zhao Qichen as they wandered the big mountains.

...

The winter in the north is much colder than in the south.

Even with the warmest fox fur cape, the finest carved bronze hand warmer, and the most exquisite faint gold-threaded silver coal, Lin Siyin still got frostbite.

On her hands, feet, and even her cheeks, turned red and itchy at night, as if she’s getting chilblains.

”Chilblains?”

”What disease is this?”

Zhao Qichen became very worried.

From childhood to adulthood, he had never heard of this disease.

His mother and sister, living in comfort, wouldn’t have it, and palace maids... don’t matter to him.

Thus he felt it was serious, felt very distressed!

Lin Siyin was much more composed, carefully checked her hands, feet, and face under the candlelight, looking in the mirror.

She just had a bitter smile: ”It’s quite serious, though I didn’t feel very cold!”

Zhao Qichen paced around the room repeatedly, surprised as he turned back hearing her words.

”Not cold?”

”How could it not be cold in the north, south is already so cold!”

”It’s my fault, didn’t consider this much, now what do we do?”

”Should I summon a few Imperial Physicians?”

Lin Siyin found it both amusing and irritating and quickly stopped him.

”No, no need!”

”Chilblains basically can’t be treated, just control it, wait till next year’s warmer weather, and it will naturally heal!”

”I already have ointment, just need to apply it, no need to bother the physicians!”

”But I might be scarred!”

”Would you dislike me?!” The cheek is already frostbitten, it’s irreversible.

She blinked at him, full of expectation.

No help, her short knowledge from childhood couldn’t make her hold her reverence to him, even if he was the Emperor.

Zhao Qichen didn’t hear what she said afterward.

He only heard ’basically can’t be treated,’ and was utterly dumbfounded.

Basically can’t be treated?

Can’t be treated?

No cure?

”...”

After a long silence, Zhao Qichen suddenly picked her up seriously, marched out, and while walking, he was both mournful and heroic.

”Yin Yin, don’t worry, even if I scour the earth, I will cure you!”

He originally didn’t believe frostbite couldn’t be treated.

But he suddenly recalled a northern snow disaster in some year, which froze many people to death.

He immediately got goosebumps and dared not doubt at all.

Turns out, frostbite really can be fatal!

Thinking of this, he tightened his grip around the person in his arms, took his thickest fox fur cape to wrap her tightly, his pace unconsciously quickened.

”Ah!”

”Cough cough, what are you doing!”

Lin Siyin was simply frustrated, couldn’t believe it.

She had just been in the warm room inspecting her wounds and planning to apply ointment.

Or waiting for him to say he wouldn’t dislike her.

How did she suddenly spin around and already be carried out by him, have walked so far?!!

”Where are you going?”

She couldn’t help but struggle.

Accidentally kicked the fox fur cape open, a burst of cold air attacked, she hurriedly wrapped herself again, for survival instinct was strong.

She shivered from the cold, grabbed his hem and asked again.

”Where are you going?!”

”It’s so cold in the mountain, let’s go back quickly!”

Zhao Qichen looked at her seriously and emotionally.

”No way!”

”Don’t move, you’re very dangerous now!!”

”I will definitely find someone to cure you, rest assured!”

Then continued walking forward.

Lin Siyin was even more bewildered: ”Dangerous?”

”Where’s the danger?”
