A Foodie Transmigrated into the Palace

Chapter 948: Chapter 948: Serve Them Well

Originally, the tiger and a few others lived here.

Now they all have their own matters to attend to and have moved out.

That little courtyard has been empty ever since.

Now...

A bit of tidying up and it’ll be livable.

Tianbao brought them here along the way.

The carriage slowly stopped at the gate.

As soon as Xia Ruyi got off, she sensed something was off and scornfully said.

”What... does the Hou Mansion look like this?! You little servant, did you take the wrong path to fool us!”

”Exactly!”

”How could the Hou Mansion possibly look like this!”

”You little servant dare to deceive us!” Xia Weifeng also chimed in.

Tianbao had anticipated they’d say this.

He rolled his eyes and quickly stepped forward to placate them.

”Oh dear, Third Young Master and Third Young Miss, please calm down!”

”Even if you borrowed me a few guts, I wouldn’t dare to fool you, would I?!”

”This is indeed the place our Marquis arranged for you two!”

”I don’t care!” Xia Ruyi said with an angry glare.

”With such a broken courtyard, how can a miss like me live here!”

”You, go report at once!”

”Tell him... it’s hard enough for me to condescend and visit the capital city, so I naturally should stay in the best and largest courtyard!”

”Let him quickly arrange something!”

Tianbao was dying of laughter inside.

Oh dear, where did this ancestor come from, condescending indeed!

The Marquis already showed great mercy by giving them a place to stay.

She wasn’t even grateful, and yet she dared to shout in front of the Marquis.

What a joke!

However.

That’s what he thought, but he kept a smile on his face.

”The largest and best courtyard is the Imperial Palace. If Third Young Miss is interested... why not go live in the palace!”

”When Second Young Miss came, she was hosted in the palace by the Noble Consort for a short while!”

”I heard... Empress Dowager Zhen nearly considered her as a Princess Consort!”

These words stirred up Xia Ruyi’s jealousy.

Indeed.

She was jealous of Xia Caiying.

Even though her mother Lady Yao always emphasized that she was of nobler birth than that wretch Xia Caiying.

But in her heart, she was still unsure.

That wretched Xia Caiying married into the Minister’s Mansion.

Could she... do the same?

If she wanted to truly marry better, continue to stay in the capital and bully her,

Did she really need to be like her elder sister and marry into the Imperial Palace?

Mentioning the Imperial Palace.

It was said that the last selection, the Emperor only selected two Fine Ladies.

The opportunity seemed a bit slim.

Xia Weifeng was silly, but she was not.

She saw through these things clearly.

Seeing the provocative look on the servant boy’s face, Xia Ruyi suppressed her anger and arrogantly said.

”Someday, I will marry in there!”

Tianbao quickly smiled obsequiously.

”That would be wonderful!”

”This servant is here to wish Third Young Miss a swift success in advance!”

Xia Ruyi snorted coldly, didn’t even glance at him, and walked straight in.

Xia Weifeng also followed in cheerfully.

Tianbao followed behind, smirking coolly.

’With your figure, going into the palace, huh!’

’Even as a Palace Maid, I bet no one would want you! Haha!’

After Xia Ruyi entered, she looked around.

Although the courtyard wasn’t big, it was quite delicate indeed.

After all, when Xia Tingfeng bought it back then, it was to marry Manxue.

The style was naturally not bad.

Now, tidied up a bit, it’s much better than the County Magistrate’s Mansion of the Xia Family.

Having never seen the world.

Looking around, Xia Ruyi and Xia Weifeng actually felt it was not bad!

Tianbao on the side was busy praising everything.

”Third Young Miss, look at this little flower garden’s Taihu Stone, all moved here by people under the Marquis’s orders!”

”And these floral trees, they say they were tributes to the Emperor from foreign lands, and the Emperor rewarded them, there are only these few plants!”

”And this little pond, with the pavilion built over it!”

”There used to be nothing here, it was all done with a huge sum by the Marquis, come summer, the pond turns into a lotus pond!”

”It’s truly beautiful!”

Tianbao’s words were half truths.

Of course, most of it was false!

However, Xia Ruyi was still content hearing it.

This series of names and phrases she had never heard of greatly satisfied her twisted vanity.

She proudly raised her head, nostrils in the air, and happily said.

”This is more like it!”

”Looks like this illegitimate brother is still quite considerate of me and my brother, not bad at all!”

Hearing this, Tianbao cursed in his heart again.

’Damn it, always saying ’illegitimate’, as if you are legitimate!’

’Just a child of a concubine born from a secondary wife without ever having seen the world, dare to be so smug?! Mentally unhinged, huh!’

’The Noble Consort, she’s the proper first-born daughter of the legitimate wife!’

’Tsk tsk, no wonder why it’s said, things are definitely different when they’re different!’

Tianbao’s smile was bright on the surface.

”Indeed! The Marquis said, after all, you are the legitimate young miss of the Xia Family, naturally you should be well taken care of!”

”The Hou Mansion has limited space, Second Young Master is also crowded there, and there’s the Little Heir to be cared for, Madam is already so busy she can’t cope, lest you two would be aggrieved if you went there!”

”It’s quiet and elegant here, that’s why Third Young Miss and Third Young Master are placed here!”

”Since the Third Young Miss is satisfied, I’ll have the servants move the luggage!”

Xia Ruyi casually waved her hand.

”Go ahead!”

Tianbao breathed a sigh of relief and swiftly ran off to call people to move the belongings.

Laughing, he thought to himself.

”Done! Deal with it!”

”As long as you’ve nodded, the Marquis will have a hundred reasons to keep you here forever!”

”And a hundred ways to make you come in laughing and leave crying!”

...

There weren’t many servants brought along from the Xia Residence.

Quite a few of them would return after delivering the people since they were short-staffed there too.

This made the number of servants staying behind even fewer.

Xia Tingfeng had to select a few from the Hou Mansion to come serve.

Of course, Tianbao managed this matter perfectly.

Now he was instructing these servant boys and maids while moving things.

”The Marquis said to attend well, do you understand?”

A maid covered her mouth with a proud smile.

”Brother Tianbao, just you wait and see!”

Tianbao smiled knowingly and said.

”Alright!”

”Look forward to your good news.”

”But the Marquis also instructed, this needs to be done discreetly.”

”The Noble Consort in the palace and the Young Lady at the Minister’s Mansion cannot afford this embarrassment!”

The maid laughed again and said.

”Brother Tianbao, don’t worry! We have a measure of these minor matters!”

Tianbao smiled.

”Then it’s settled! Don’t let the Marquis down!”

”Got it!”

After moving the things.

Both courtyards were cleaned up.

Xia Weifeng’s courtyard was at the front yard.

Xia Ruyi’s was in the main courtyard of the backyard.

These were relatively large courtyards, much better compared to a County Magistrate’s Mansion.

Living in them was quite comfortable.

Xia Tingfeng also sent people over for service.

In the evening, Xia Tingfeng and Xia Jingfeng also came by to greet them.

Lady Ni also hurriedly sent people over, offering gifts and warm greetings.

The siblings had a very comfortable first day!

As for whether they’ll continue to be comfortable, hahaha...
