Chapter 937: Chapter 937: New Year’s Celebration (Part 2)

Yeye was stunned when he heard the name.

His face showed a look of helplessness, as if saying ’How can I have such a childish brother?’

Xia Ruqing did not think there was anything inappropriate.

Although she also couldn’t figure out:

How two wholly snow-white cats could give birth to two little cats with patterns.

But, the innocent nature of children is undeniable.

So, she praised them gently.

”I think the name is not bad!”

Henger clapped his hands with joy.

”Mother also thinks it’s good?!”

”Then from now on, let’s call them Da Hua and Xiao Hua!”

”Alright!”

Xia Ruqing answered swiftly and neatly.

Henger was very happy.

After holding and ’caring’ for the smaller kitten in his palm for a while,

he finally let it return to the cat’s bed.

”Alright, after seeing them, we should go back for lunch!”

Xia Ruqing urged.

Henger and Yeye both obediently agreed.

Xia Ruqing was very satisfied, thinking to herself: After all, they’ve grown up a bit and become more sensible.

She also thought to herself, next year at this time, they will have started their education and begun to study.

She felt a bit reluctant.

The children of the Royal Family have it quite tough.

Look at Chenchen.

It’s almost the New Year, yet he still has to study, practice calligraphy, and train in martial arts every day without fail.

A five-year-old child is like a little adult.

Not lazy, not making mistakes, every move must be steady.

It brings comfort to others watching, but she feels heartache for him.

On the way, Xia Ruqing instructed,

”Have the small kitchen make some salted walnut kernels and send them over to Chenchen to nourish his mind!”

”Yes!”

The Palace Attendant agreed and turned to pass on the message.

As the New Year approached, Zhao Junyao was very busy.

Xia Ruqing dined with the children for lunch.

It was sumptuous, but not quite to her taste.

After finishing the meal and sending the children for a nap, Xia Ruqing lamented with a sense of unfulfillment.

”It’s all rather bland, I don’t dare to ask for spicy, it feels not very satisfying!”

Zi Yue smiled from the side and asked.

”Madam, do you want to eat something spicy?”

Xia Ruqing nodded.

”Absolutely! In this icy and snowy landscape, how can we do without hot pot?!”

”It must be beef tallow, with lamb, tender beef, vegetables, tofu, tripe...”

As she spoke, her mouth began to water.

Zi Yue couldn’t help but laugh.

”Isn’t that simple? If Madam wants to eat, I will pass the message now!”

Xia Ruqing thought about it and nodded.

”Good! Go ahead!”

”By the way, invite the Emperor over for the evening! Let him eat something good and nourish himself!”

”Yes!”

Zi Yue turned and left.

In the afternoon, after Xia Ruqing woke up from a nap, she faintly smelled the familiar scent.

She was instantly invigorated.

”Chef Jiang, being from the Chuan Region, truly knows how to make an unparalleled hot pot broth!”

The aroma wafted all around, filling the courtyard with the scent of hot pot.

Zi Su came in with a smile and said.

”Madam, everything is ready, whenever you want the meal served, they can start the hot pot!”

Just this one sentence.

Xia Ruqing’s stomach immediately growled.

But thinking about how the Emperor hadn’t arrived yet, she held back.

”The Emperor has been working hard lately, let’s wait for a while, I’ll go check on the children first!”

”Has Chenchen returned?”

Zi Su quickly answered.

”He has returned, His Highness the Crown Prince has already dined in front and is currently taking a walk in the Imperial Garden!”

Xia Ruqing nodded and said with a smile.

”I’ve only realized this year that Chenchen has quite an artistic temperament!”

Ever since the red plum blossoms in the Imperial Garden bloomed, he has been going there every evening after dinner.

He has reportedly painted several plum blossom pictures.

He might become a well-read and exceptionally talented prince in the future!

”Indeed!”

”I’ll go see those two little buns!”

”Yes!” Zi Su smiled and went forward to help the master dress.

In the side hall.

The two little buns had also woken up not long ago.

Xia Ruqing went over, played with the children for a while, and taught them a few large characters.

As it was getting late,

she got up and instructed the Sisters to take good care of them, then left with the others.

...

In the main hall.

Zi Yue had already set up the stove and dishes with others.

As the saying goes, everything is ready, just waiting for the east wind.

Xia Ruqing was about to send someone to invite him.

Unexpectedly, someone arrived.

Zhao Junyao walked in wearing a pure black fox fur coat.

Outside, it was freezing cold, and he carried the chill with him.

”Greetings, Emperor!”

Xia Ruqing went forward to salute.

”Qingqing, no need for formalities!”

Zhao Junyao waved his hand. His voice was somewhat hoarse, and he looked very tired.

He reached out to take off his coat.

Xia Ruqing quickly went up to help, carefully folded the coat and handed it to the Palace Maid.

She then assisted him in sitting down and offered a cup of hot tea.

”Emperor, please have some water!”

Zhao Junyao took the tea, drank it all at once, and smiled.

”Qingqing’s tea-making skills have become more and more advanced!”

Xia Ruqing was slightly embarrassed.

”Emperor, this tea wasn’t brewed by me personally!”

Zhao Junyao casually put down the teacup and said.

”Since it’s brought by you, it’s as if you brewed it yourself!”

Xia Ruqing gave him a helpless look.

”Emperor, you are truly overbearing!”

Zhao Junyao smiled without saying anything.

Xia Ruqing tidied up the bowls and dishes on the table, and said.

”It’s cold today, I’ve prepared a pot, I hope the Emperor likes it!”

Zhao Junyao nodded.

”I can eat anything, as long as you like it, Qingqing!”

Xia Ruqing was speechless.

Then you shouldn’t eat so much.

Previously when eating, she didn’t eat much, but he practically ate until he was completely full.

Clearly he liked it!

As they talked.

Zhao Junyao already picked up his chopsticks.

”Qingqing, you must be hungry!”

Xia Ruqing was both amused and helpless.

”Emperor, aren’t you the one who’s hungry?”

Is it really so hard to admit you want to eat, to enjoy eating?!

The table had both meat and vegetables.

The pot had beef tallow, and the boiling hot red oil hot pot broth, the room was filled with a delicious aroma.

Both of them couldn’t control themselves and started eating.

Halfway through their meal, it started to snow outside.

With the contrast of the outside and inside, it made the room feel even warmer like spring returning to the earth.

That evening, after the two of them were full and satisfied,

they washed up to get rid of the smell, then snuggled under the covers in bed.

Xia Ruqing held her belly, looking content.

”In the freezing snow, hot pot truly is the only motivation to live!”

Is there anything more wonderful than this?

Zhao Junyao wasn’t thinking about this, his mind was still on court affairs.

”Qingqing...”

”Xia Jingfeng is returning soon, and I plan to assign him to the Ministry of Revenue!”

Xia Ruqing uncomfortably turned over.

”Emperor, this is court affairs, I’m not knowledgeable about that!”

”But having Jingfeng come to the Capital City must be a good thing!”

”I trust the Emperor!”

Seeing she didn’t want to talk more about it, Zhao Junyao didn’t continue either.

After chatting for a while, they rested.

The following days were far from leisurely.

With sacrifices to heaven, the New Year’s Eve banquet, and ancestral rituals,

inside and out, they were busily engaged.

With the Central Palace vacant, Noble Consort Xian was the most honorable Palace Consort.

Within and outside the palace, the ladies came to pay their respects, having nowhere else to go, could only visit her here.

For a time, her Duanning Palace was bustling with people coming and going.

She was so busy that when Lady Ni and her second sister came to the palace on the second day of the New Year, she barely had time for a few personal words.

By the time everything settled down and they caught their breath, it was already the fifth day of the new year.
