Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1367: Victory

A deafening boom tore through Kurogane Pass as a colossal explosion erupted beyond the Wall.

The ground shuddered violently, kicking up waves of dust and dirt. The explosion hit like a giant hammer. The earth buckled, throwing debris into the air.

A violent shockwave tore outwards, rattling armor and knocking men off their feet even far away. Behind the Wall, a column of fire shot upward, ballooning into a massive mushroom cloud that blotted out the sky.

Flames surged across the ground in a wave, swallowing everything in their path. The heat was intense enough to scorch the stone facing the Wall, yet the monolithic structure held. Not even a brick loosened. Not a single crack appeared.

It stood unmoved, as if mocking the destruction behind it.

The two thousand Tiesha Tang soldiers stationed beyond the Wall never even had time to scream. The blast consumed them instantly. Their armor melted, and bones turned to powder.

When the flames settled and the dust thinned, nothing recognizable remained, only a scorched, empty wasteland where an entire army had stood moments ago.

On the battlefield, the Tsuitsui soldiers had collapsed on the blood-stained ground from the sheer shockwaves of the gargantuan blast.

Standing at the forefront, Goro could not believe what he was witnessing. With wide eyes, he looked at the flames burning beyond the Wall, thinking to himself in astonishment:

How the hell did he manage to pull that off?!

”Brother!” Seishin, the Chief Strategist, called out to him, his voice laced with shock. ”The gates...”

He pointed at the Wall’s towering gates that were wide open. Through the giant doorway, they could see a sea of flames. The Tiesha Tang soldiers had been burned to ashes. Now all that remained were the few men who were still alive inside the Wall.

When Goro looked at the open gates, Adam’s message from earlier in the day echoed in his mind.

Be ready...

He gritted his teeth as the faces of his brothers, who had been slain in this battle, flashed across his eyes. He inhaled deeply and roared at the top of his lungs:

”Tsuitsui Clan... CHARGE!!!”

Goro was the first one to fearlessly charge towards the Wall.

The rest of the army, numbering less than five hundred, glanced at their General’s departing back. A blazing fire burned in their hearts, and in that moment, they felt that all the pain and weakness in their bodies had been suppressed.

They didn’t know what exactly was going on, why there was a sudden explosion, and why the Wall’s gates had opened wide for them.

But they did know one thing...

They remembered the great sacrifices their brothers had made in this battle. This gave them strength and courage. And seeing their General take charge, valor coursed through their veins.

And before they knew it, they had already begun charging towards the Wall.

”For our brothers!”

”For the great Tsuitsui Clan!”

They let out battle cries, their eyes blazing with hunger for vengeance.

These men were in extremely haggard shapes. They were grievously injured and utterly exhausted from fighting for four days straight.

But today...

Today, they were strong and fearless men.

Goro’s eyes blazed with fighting intent as he rushed towards the Wall. When the distance was close enough, he weaved a series of hand seals and cast a spell.

Rank 3 Spell: Hoisting Pillar!

The ground beneath him trembled ever so slightly, and the following moment, a wide earthen pillar erupted from the ground, hoisting him into the air.

With the help of the spell, he soared straight towards the Wall. But because the structure was so tall, he couldn’t land directly on the battlements. However, he caught hold of a ledge on the Wall and quickly positioned himself for the climb.

Goro’s eyes flashed with a cold light.

I can touch the Wall, he thought in surprise.

Did Ao cancel the defensive runic formation on it? Earlier, nothing from outside could even touch the wall. But now...

He flashed a ferocious grin as dark-green miasma emanated from his body. Then, he quickly climbed the Wall.

Within a minute, he had already scaled the great height. He pulled himself up over the railing and finally landed on the battlement.

The Magi atop the Wall were kneeling on the ground, groaning. Although the sudden explosion hadn’t outright killed them, it had knocked most of them out cold and heavily disoriented them.

Goro’s entire being radiated an aura of dark bloodlust. His gaze landed on Han Xun and the other top officers of the Tiesha Tang army. There were also several other Magi stationed on the battlements.

These were the men who were responsible for the deaths of his kin.

And now... he was going to slaughter them all!

The Venom Dragon gathered mana into his gauntleted hands, the silhouettes of serpents coiling around his arms coming alive. And then, he drove straight into the group of disoriented Magi like a hungry wolf pouncing on a flock of helpless sheep.

Hot blood sprayed in the air, bones cracked, and internal organs were ripped apart as Goro tore through his enemies. He moved with the ferocious grace of a wild beast that would stop at nothing until the prey was butchered.

Because of the earlier explosion, these Magi were weakened to begin with. Now, with Goro using his poison arts, their strength was reduced to an even greater degree. There was no way they were going to survive the massacre.

Within ten minutes, the battlement was littered with dismembered corpses.

Goro, bathed in the blood of his enemies, stood proud and victorious as he clasped Han Xun by the neck.

By now, Han Xun’s flesh had already been corroded by poison. Even if Goro didn’t act, it wouldn’t be long before he died.

With eyes filled with shock, hatred, and resentment, Han Xun weakly looked at the Venom Dragon and managed to mutter a few words:

”How... did you... infiltrate...”

Goro’s lips curled into a murderous grin as his grip around Han Xun’s neck tightened.

”Wouldn’t you like to know?”

The next moment, Goro viciously slammed Han Xun to the floor.

Splat!

Han Xun’s head burst apart, sending blood, bone, and brain matter flying in every direction. Goro looked down at the twitching, headless body with nothing but cold disdain.

He suddenly heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind him. He turned around, only to see Seishin and the rest of his brothers, drenched in blood, appear on the battlement.

”Brother!” Seishin said with a triumphant smile. ”All the enemies inside the Wall have been slain.”

Hearing those words, Goro’s shoulders relaxed. He raised his fist and proudly declared:

”Victory is ours!”
