Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1251: Crazed Laughter

A terrifying explosion rocked the grassy plain.

For a few moments, it felt as if a scorching sun had suddenly descended from the heavens. In that short span of time, the fire from the blazing explosion illuminated the battlefield.

The survivors saw the sheer carnage Adam had wrought, and couldn’t help but shudder in terror. In just a matter of minutes, the madman had already slaughtered nearly half of them.

If not for the group of Mana Vortex Magi coming together, combining their mana, to cast multiple Great Fireball spells, the surviving adventurers couldn’t imagine the chaos Adam would have wreaked.

Standing not far away from the blazing inferno, the handsome swordsman gazed at the burning flames with a dark look on his face.

”Where did this man come from?” he asked softly, his gaze shifting to all the mutilated corpses on the battlefield. ”He is definitely not from around here, or we would have already heard of his exploits.”

It was considered moderately difficult for a Mana Vortex Magus to fight someone of the same rank and clutch victory in a short period of time. Let alone the current situation, where Adam faced off against a small army of a hundred Magi led by over a dozen Mana Vortex Magi.

Such levels of battle prowess were simply unheard of. The handsome swordsman couldn’t help but intensely frown. He was hailed as a genius in his clan, yet even he knew that he paled in comparison to the madman in the kitsune mask.

”Young Master Tensei,” said one of the black-robed guards standing by him. ”What should we do now?”

The handsome swordsman in white robes, Tensei Arakuro, gazed deeply at the burning flames. In the end, he heaved a long sigh. ”We retrieve the Grade 4 Artifacts from his corpse.”

In the following moment, Tensei scanned the battlefield once again, his gaze settling on the dozen Mana Vortex Magi, who were similarly eyeing Adam’s artifacts.

”Remain alert,” Tensei murmured in a low voice. ”The name of our Arakuro Clan should serve as a deterrent, but we must still prepare for the worst.”

The Arakuro Clan was a famed family of Magi in Yen-Lu. Just the name itself was enough to discourage others with nefarious intentions. But in the face of not just one but multiple Grade 4 Artifacts, it was unknown what Magi were truly capable of.

And just as Tensei feared, all the dozen Mana Vortex Magi on the battlefield were eyeing one another with tense expressions. They knew that once the fire died down, another round of brutal battle would begin for the Grade 4 Artifacts.

But what they didn’t know... was Adam’s resilience.

”HAHAHAHA!!”

A crazed fit of laughter echoed across the bloody battlefield, sending chills down all who heard it. With terrified looks on their faces, they all turned to the source of the sound - the center of the explosion.

With the fires still burning brilliantly, Adam’s madness-filled voice was heard once again:

”Fun! Fun! This is fun! Although I must say... compared to that hateful guy’s black flames, these ones are quite pitiful. Though I wouldn’t know since these ones haven’t even touched my beautiful, flawless skin.”

The next moment, the air shifted. The burning inferno blazing in the center of the battlefield was suddenly snuffed out as if a violent gust of wind had appeared out of nowehere.

At the center of where the explosion used to be, a dome of mana made from overlapping walls of oscillating mana became visible for all to see.

This wasn’t a magical spell.

No.

This was a pure form of magical combat.

Hand of Doom: Great Barrier!

The next moment, the dome of mana vanished abruptly, and from within, the Blades of Fulgrim, engulfed in flames, shout out towards a tall and muscular Mana Vortex Magus.

This Magus was alarmed and horrified to see the flaming weapons of death hurling towards him. But at the last possible moment, he raised his broadsword in a defensive position and deflected the two blades.

Clang!

However, as a result, his broadsword shattered into several pieces, and his arms felt utterly numb.

The adventurers and mercenaries surrounding the muscular Magus were still reeling from the shock of the sudden turn of events when, suddenly, Adam appeared before the unarmed man like a ghost, his crazed laughter echoing in everyone’s ears.

Adam utilized the momentum of his speed and delivered a flying knee kick to the muscular man’s face.

Of course, that wasn’t enough to kill the man. As the man’s tall figure fell backwards, Adam held on to him, his lips curling into an unnatural grin.

Just as the muscular man’s body hit the ground, Adam positioned the tip of his four fingers on the man’s bloody, caved-in face, then followed through with a devastating one-inch punch.

Hand of Doom: One Hit!

Splat!

The muscular man’s head burst open, spilling blood, bone fragments, and grey matter in all directions. Even the ground beneath had caved in ever so slightly, forming a tiny crater.

The Laughing God continued to whisper, and Adam continued to laugh.

He laughed and laughed and laughed as he loomed over the mutilated corpse of the muscular man he’d just killed. A moment later, he said with a cold grin:

”It’s nice to be greedy and all, but surely you must have the skills to satiate your avarice, don’t you think?”

Some of the Magi nearby, who witnessed Adam bursting open the man’s skull, couldn’t help but collapse on their knees and beg for mercy. While most of the surviving Magi started to involuntarily retreat, wondering if it was truly the right decision to attack Adam.

The madman was reaping lives while laughing uncontrollably.

This wasn’t a human.

This was a ghost!

”Brothers!” It was at that moment that Tensei Arakuro, the handsome swordsman, took a step forward and roared. ”We must unite and kill this demon. Or... or he’ll slaughter us all!”

Adam’s response was simple.

He only laughed.

With a whip of the chains, the madman caught the Blades of Fulgrim as they returned to him. He then got into a fighting stance once again, screaming in murderous delight:

”What’re you waiting for? Come!”
