Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1217: Lost City of Feypore

In the heart of Mabi, where the canopy was so thick that sunlight barely filtered through, a pack of vicious wolves had gathered at the base of a towering tree.

The pack consisted of Mana Liquefaction-level beasts and was led by a giant wolf at the Mana Vortex Rank. They all had hunger and bloodthirst gleaming in their predatory eyes as they glared at the cloaked figure crouched on one of the thick branches.

Crazed laughter echoed through the area as Adam faced the pack of hungry wolves, taunting them, “What is it, little pup? Can’t climb the tree, can you? Ah, what a pity.”

The wolves, seemingly understanding the madman’s words, grew even more ferocious. One of the more restless ones couldn’t control its bloodlust any longer and rushed towards the treetop, agilely climbing the trunk with the help of its sharp claws.

But before it could reach anywhere near Adam, a cold light flashed in the air, followed by the sound of chains dangling. Then, with a muffled thud, the headless body of the wolf plopped to the ground, blood oozing from its neck, forming a dark puddle underneath its twitching body.

Laughter once again echoed through the air. “Come on! Come on! Just a little more! You can do it!”

The pack of wolves growled, their eyes flashing with anger and hatred. They cast a long look at the ugly human, then turned thier attention to their deceased kin. Hunger overcame them, and they began devouring its corpse.

But not the alpha… It glared at Adam with murder in its eyes. But in the end, it turned around and disappeared behind the trees.

Seeing the obvious turn of events, Adam once again felt the urge to laugh. And so… he laughed and laughed and laughed. The Laughing God continued to whisper, and he continued to listen.

Soon, his laughter died down as he observed the remains of the wolf he had just slain, as well as the few other wolves who were foolish enough to climb the tree earlier. His lips curled into a wide, unnatural grin, and he murmured:

“What’s the point of these stealth artifacts if I end up giving away my location simply by laughing?”

That was exactly what had happened to him ever since he arrived on this island. It had been a year and a half since he’d arrived here, and two years since the Battle of Ravenfell had ended.

Finally, after overcoming countless trials and tribulations, Adam had arrived at his destination—the heart of Mabi.

If it wasn’t for his constant fit of manic laughter that drew the attention of nearby beasts, he would have arrived at his destination sooner. After all, the physical speed of a Mana Vortex Magus was great to begin with. Adam’s speed was even more so, considering the three cycles of physical augmentation he had undergone.

But it could also be argued that if it wasn’t for the Stealth Cloak and the Stealth Boots, he would have taken a lot longer to arrive here. Mabi was filled with powerful beasts, and every wrong step whispered the promise of death. These wildlands were countless times more dangerous than the Murky Mountains in Ulier.

Regardless, he had finally made it. He heaved a long, heavy sigh and muttered with a faint smile, “We’ve been through a lot, haven’t we, Merene?”

There was no response, only the occasional chirping of the birds and the growls of distant animals.

Adam’s smile widened. “Right, you’re not real… You never were…”

In the next moment, there was a response.

“Gege!”

The mimic, who was in his rucksack form and strapped to the youth’s back, shifted slightly.

Adam turned his head ever so slightly and offered a warm smile. “Yes, Gege, I hear you.”

“Gege! Gege!” The mimic chirped happily.

“Fine, let’s head to the top then.” Adam nodded.

Then, he quickly scaled the tree and arrived at the topmost branch within a minute. It was a very tall tree, and he had to constantly look out for any sly predators that may have made it their home.

From the top of the tree, the view stretched endlessly. Up above, the sky was dyed in brilliant shades of orange and purple as twilight engulfed the world. Below was a dense sea of green canopy, the treetops packed so tightly together they looked like rolling waves of leaves.

The air was slightly humid, carrying the calls of distant birds and the rustle of hidden wildlife. And far in the distance, rising above the endless green, stood the ancient ruins of a long-forgotten city.

Broken towers jutted from the jungle like the sharp teeth of a colossal beast, and crumbling stone walls were half swallowed by wild vegetation. Moss and roots covered most of the structures, but their outlines still told of a once-great architecture now claimed by mother nature.

The ruins of the city were not silent, however. Shadowy figures, emanating powerful auras, moved along the broken streets, their shapes half hidden in the mist and the fading light of the sun.

They prowled between shattered walls and collapsed towers, lingering like the memories of the past. Their movements were slow, deliberate, and unsettling, almost as if… they were bound to the ruined city.

All around the city, massive craters scarred the stone and earth. Some were wide and shallow, while others were deep and jagged, filled with stagnant water or overgrown vegetation. And at the center of it all lay the biggest crater, so deep that its pit was swallowed by darkness.

The sheer number of these craters hinted at the scale of destruction, a battle so great and devastating that it forever reshaped the lands—and the world.

Even after thousands of years had passed, the scars remained, marking the place as a graveyard of a forgotten war… a forgotten empire.

“The lost city of Feypore…” Adam muttered under his breath, a profound feeling washing over him.

He felt awe and unease at the sight of the ruins. This was once the greatest magical civilization in Tron, now reduced to rubble and scars of war. He felt reverence, but he also felt dread.

If such a powerful empire could fall, what hope did others have?

Yet beneath it all, his heart was gripped by excitement at the secrets and artifacts that might still lie hidden in the ancient ruins, waiting to be uncovered.

His lips curled into a wide grin at that thought. He took a deep breath, then silently made his way towards the forgotten city.

Adam moved cautiously through the dense jungles, slowly making his way towards the outskirts of the city. He had to take utmost precatuition because this ruin was undoubtedly the most dangerous place on this island-continent.

Whenever he felt the urge to burst into laughter, he viciously bit his tongue. He couldn’t care less about biting off his tongue completely. What he was about to do was of great importance. He could not afford to make any mistakes.

The closer he drew, the more dangerous the land became. He could feel it in his bones. He didn’t need the Sphere of Resonance to tell him about the great dangers residing within the forgotten city.

Tracks and claw marks on trees warned of powerful beasts that prowled the area. At times, the ground shook faintly with their distant movements. During such times, Adam would quickly climb the trees and activate the enchantments of his stealth artifacts.

Never had he felt so grateful for those artifacts as he did now. Without them, he would have long since been found out, and all his meticulous plannings would have been for naught.

Sometimes he silently vaulted from one tree to another. While at other times, he kept low, using roots, boulders, and trees for cover. When he spotted a massive beast moving through the foliage, he held his breath and waited, watching until it passed.

At one point, a winged beast circled above the canopy, forcing him to crawl under the thicket of vines until the sky was clear. In times like these, Adam actually felt a little appreciative of the Faceless Mask.

This divine relic might have pushed him to rock bottom, but at the very least, it helped him conceal his mana fluctuations and even his presence to a small degree. And this was him without actively using the mask. This passive ability was something he found out during his journey through the wildlands.

Scouting carefully, he noted collapsed walls and buildings, and broken towers half-swallowed by the jungle. Between them, powerful beasts wandered as if they owned the ruined city. Their sheer presence made every step forward a great risk for the youth.

Only by patience and silence did he manage to reach the edge of Feypore. And after days of silent observation, Adam finally pieced the pattern together.

And he didn’t like it one bit…

Three Mana Core-level beasts had made the city their territory. Each ruled a different section of the city, and together, they turned the city into a fortress that no ordinary intruder could even hope to survive.

And at the center of it all, within the largest crater, surrounded by the domain of the three powerful Mana Core-level beasts, lay his objective.

There, the concentration of mana was at its peak, so dense it almost distorted the air.

That… was where the portal lay hidden!

Sorry guys, only 1 chapter today. I’ve got a splitting headache. Just looking at the screen is making my head throb…
