Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 210: Chapter 210: Dark Age [Please Favorite, Please Recommend]

Su Luoxue left, and Li Jin also went on a shopping spree with three girls under his protection!

”By the way, there’s also you guys. It’s unfair to have you play a match for nothing. Once my people come back, each of you go and collect a hundred thousand as my compensation.”

Lu Xiaobu said to the club presidents.

”Thank you, Young Master Bu.”

Everyone was delighted, their speculation was right, a hundred thousand yuan!

That’s not a small sum!

With this hundred thousand, their clubs could do a lot of things.

Young Master Bu is truly generous, joyful!

Then, the president of the director’s club, Zhang Qian, spoke up with a troubled face: ”Young Master Bu, are you really going to join the Electronic Sports Club?”

”What’s the problem?”

Lu Xiaobu countered.

”Of course there’s no problem, but the current state of electronic sports, how should I put it, isn’t very favorable.”

Zhang Qian spoke cautiously.

He initially wanted to say that there was no future at all, but after giving it some thought, he changed it to ”isn’t very favorable.”

”How so?”

Lu Xiaobu asked back.

A row of presidents hesitated, unsure if they should speak the truth.

After all, they couldn’t gauge Lu Xiaobu’s thoughts, careful with their word choice.

”I’ll say it.”

Wang Gou shrugged and stepped forward: ”Currently in our country, especially parents’ attitude towards gaming has always been one of utter disgust. For many students during their school years, once they play games, all the wrongdoings are ascribed to gaming by their parents.”

”Some even claim that student fights are due to gaming!”

”This has led to a generally poor attitude towards gaming, not to mention what they call electronic sports!”

”So the current state of the Electronic Sports Club is very bad, with no venue, no funds, no equipment, and the few that do join are only attracted by Su Luoxue’s beauty.”

”I think Su Luoxue, this ice maiden, reaching out to invite you to join the club is a desperate move, wanting to use you to increase the club’s appeal!”

Wang Gou’s words were very objective.

After listening, Lu Xiaobu nodded, understanding the situation.

He was previously unaware, but now he knew thanks to Wang Gou.

The development of electronic sports on Water Blue Star is just like Earth during the Dark Age.

Back then, in the eyes of parents from the Heavenly Dynasty, gaming was seen as a cancerous presence no matter how good their children’s academic performances were—gaming was wrong!

It even led to the shocking instances like the ’Electricity Law King’—Yang Yongxin.

This reflects how much parents feared gaming, treating it almost like opium!

The demonization of it was extreme!

In such an environment, it’s incredibly tough for electronic sports to develop, to say it’s an uphill struggle would be an understatement!

Even today’s LOL, despite Lu Xiaobu putting a patriotic shine on it, faces the same challenge!

But, if others can’t do it...

Can Lu Xiaobu not do it?!

At this moment, students surrounding them were also discussing the topic of electronic sports.

”I think gaming is just for relaxation, no need to take it so seriously, let alone this electronic sports thing, it’s incomprehensible!”

”Yes, I was part of the Electronic Sports Club for a while, and to be honest, I joined because of Su Luoxue, but I couldn’t stand it after just three days!”

”What, it was that bad?”

”More than just bad! We play games for fun, but they play as if their lives depend on it! Training hand speed, awareness training, oh man, it’s just maddening!”

”Just hearing about it makes me not want to go. Turning something meant for leisure into something as strenuous as study? Can’t stand it! Of course, if Su Luoxue personally invited me, I would go!”

”Just you? Personally invited by her? Wishful thinking.”

”...”

Listening to the discussions around him, Lu Xiaobu’s mouth twitched slightly, and he stretched lazily.

Looking down on electronic sports?

Thinking that games are only meant for playing?

”I’m telling you now, sooner or later...

You will go crazy for him, be fascinated by him, cheer for his glory!

And that day won’t be far off!

Or rather, under his tricks, that day is just around the corner!

”I’m going to check out the Electronic Sports Club, do you guys want to come?”

Lu Xiaobu turned to look at his roommates and asked.

The three roommates looked at each other and also nodded: ”Sure, let’s go have a look.”

...

An abandoned classroom doubling as a storeroom in the southwest corner of the school.

This is what’s called the Electronic Sports Club.

In the middle of the room, there are six computers set up; from the looks of them, they seem to be outdated units cast off by some internet cafes during an upgrade.

And the sides of the room are filled with various sorts of junk. Although there’s a lot of stuff, it’s all very neatly arranged.

It’s clear that the person who tidied up these things must have a strong attachment to this place.

At this moment, the Electronic Sports Club, including Su Luoxue, all six members were having a meeting.

”Club President, you shouldn’t have gone looking for that damn Lu Xiaobu. That little bastard, what is he anyway?!”

A boy with a fiery temperament and a fierce look on his face bellowed.

The thought of his goddess, Su Luoxue, being pinched on the chin by that Lu Xiaobu, set him ablaze with rage!

Su Luoxue was his!

”Alright, Wang Chen, hold your tongue.”

Another boy, looking somewhat skinny and wearing glasses, spoke: ”Do you think the Club President wanted this? You’re not looking at those big club presidents begging Lu Xiaobu. That Lu Xiaobu must be someone important; once he joins our club, it will definitely benefit us.”

”Benefit, benefit, Xu Ronggui, you damn know only about benefits! You are just a manipulator!”

Wang Chen got even angrier, grabbing the glasses-wearing boy by the collar and screamed at him.

His spit sprayed the boy’s face.

”I’m doing this for the good of our Electronic Sports Club!”

Xu Ronggui struggled to say.

”Bullshit! I think you just want to go lick someone’s boots! Otherwise, you just saw Luo Xue being harassed by that bastard, and you didn’t even let Luo Xue take action, what are your god damn intentions?!”

Wang Chen, talking about this matter, was unforgivably furious, his fists clenched, ready to strike!

Xu Ronggui was immediately frightened, squinting his eyes and shivering: ”Club President! Look at Wang Chen!”

”Enough, stop it there.”

Su Luoxue spoke up, her tone still cold.

She looked at these two, feeling really troubled.

These two were the strongest of the six people in their Electronic Sports Club, they were the ’pillars’!

Aside from them, the other three...

Well, better left unsaid!

But even these two ’pillars’ were full of problems!

Xu Ronggui was okay, a bit timid and afraid of controversy, but he had the same intentions as her at heart and ultimately wanted the best for the Electronic Sports Club!

Including this time when they went looking for Lu Xiaobu, it was Xu Ronggui’s suggestion!

But Wang Chen was different, his goal was as clear as day, and it was for her!

And what’s most despicable is that Wang Chen is always out there, making a fuss, claiming that she is his woman!

It made her annoyed and agitated to no end!

Honestly, if not for the club’s minimum requirement of six people, she would have kicked this jerk out long ago!

”Luo Xue, you’re always protecting this wimp, do you even have me in your eyes?!”

Initially full of indignation, Wang Chen exploded into extreme frustration upon hearing Su Luoxue’s words.

”Who are you? Why should I have you in my eyes!”

Su Luoxue was also angered. This Wang Chen was becoming too much!

”Who am I!? Who am I?! Haha, fine, fine!”

Wang Chen was furious, his eyes showing ferocity!

If this is how it is going to be, then don’t blame me!
