Xiao Die’s voice carried a slight tremor, her clear eyes filled with unease and apprehension.

Xu Wendong realized his loss of composure and quickly averted his gaze, clearing his throat softly.

”Haven’t seen you in some days, it seems you look quite fatigued, Xiao Die.” Xu Wendong tried to make his tone sound gentle; he hadn’t expected his maid to be so captivating.

The master lets such a beautiful flower go unplucked, yet chooses to marry a woman like Huang Ying; it’s hard to understand what he’s thinking.

Xiao Die shook her little head like a rattle drum, lowering her head and softly saying, ”Serving the young master doesn’t tire me at all.”

Xu Wendong sighed internally, thinking Xiao Die was indeed kind-hearted; in this complex Lin Family, her loyalty to the master was all the more precious.

His eyes flashed and quickly locked onto a bruise on Xiao Die’s arm: ”What happened?”

Xiao Die looked up, a trace of panic flashing in her eyes.

She quickly rolled down her sleeve, hastily hiding the injury on her arm, and said almost tearfully, ”It’s nothing, young master, don’t worry about me. I just accidentally fell, that’s all...”

”If I’m not mistaken, that looks like an injury from a stick, doesn’t it?” Xu Wendong’s gaze turned cold. He stepped forward, rolling up Xiao Die’s sleeve without further ado to examine the injury closely.

The skin on her tender arm was supple and as delicate as porcelain, but the bruise stood out glaringly, causing great displeasure.

Even Xu Wendong himself struggled to protect himself within the Lin Family, suffering torment from Lin Feng, who went directly for the kill. Naturally, his maid had endured considerable bullying, too.

The atmosphere gradually grew heavy. The master hadn’t been this attentive to Xiao Die before. Now, Xu Wendong walked directly up to inspect the wound, his mortal world’s presence sweeping over her, making Xiao Die feel intoxicated, her heart beating wildly as if a spring tide surged within, causing a blush to appear on her pretty face.

”Young master, you seem a bit different,” Xiao Die whispered.

”Oh? How am I different?” Xu Wendong asked casually. He examined Xiao Die’s injury; although it wasn’t severe, it couldn’t be delayed. He hurriedly pulled Xiao Die to sit down, ”Let me treat you first.”

Xiao Die was a bit surprised, wondering if the young master knew how to heal wounds too?

Soon, a wisp of Yin Energy entered Xiao Die’s body, a power inherently belonging to Xu Wendong, a soul from the mortal world, carrying a faint presence of Yang Energy. As this power entered Xiao Die’s body, her delicate body shivered.

An indescribable feeling blossomed in her heart.

Xiao Die pressed her legs together, the blush on her face deepening.

Xu Wendong raised his head in confusion and asked, ”What? No effect? Let me increase the strength a bit more; bear with it, it might feel uncomfortable.”

”No, no... it’s very comfortable...” Xiao Die’s voice was as thin as a gossamer thread. Once that power entered her body, it dispelled all her fatigue.

”To eliminate the bruise, it takes some effort, hang in there.” Xu Wendong insisted, pressing his thumb on the bruised area.

”Mm...” Xiao Die’s eyes grew misty, her ears turning bright red. The tingling sensation was a first-time experience for her; she hadn’t expected the young master to possess such a knack for healing.

A few breaths later, the Yin Energy ebbed away like a receding tide, the bruise on Xiao Die’s arm completely faded, her tender arm restoring a rosy luster, irresistibly alluring.

Xiao Die gradually came to her senses, feeling a chill below, wondering if she had embarrassingly lost control due to comfort. It was so mortifying, especially in front of the young master.

And she wasn’t sure if the young master noticed; if he did, it would be incredibly shameful!

”Alright, now tell me how you got this injury, and don’t lie to me.” Xu Wendong said sternly. Xiao Die was his maid; no one else could bully his people.

Xiao Die fell silent. Seeing Xu Wendong’s insistence, she softly uttered a name, ”It was Housekeeper Wang.”

”Housekeeper Wang? Lin Feng’s man!”

Xu Wendong’s eyes flashed; that Housekeeper Wang was Lin Feng’s confidant, often causing trouble for him in the past. Recently Lin Feng made a move to nearly kill him, and now Housekeeper Wang dared to lay hands on Xiao Die.

”He... he said that young master was doomed, so he ordered me to serve him every night, and when I refused, he beat me...”

”Luckily, the young master returned; it’s all in the past now.” Xiao Die’s eyes teared up. If Xu Wendong hadn’t returned, she might have been violated by Housekeeper Wang, without Xu Wendong’s protection, Xiao Die was merely an insignificant maid in the Lin Family, easily devoured by the wolves and tigers.

Listening to Xiao Die’s account, Xu Wendong felt his anger surge, a volcano within his chest on the verge of eruption.

”Lin Feng’s dog dares to touch my people?” Xu Wendong clenched his fists; dealing with Lin Feng was one thing, but did his minion dare to be so insolent?

Xiao Die was too innocent; how could Xu Wendong just watch such a girl suffer harm?

”Young master, it’s alright, don’t get angry for my sake. Now that you’ve returned, Housekeeper Wang wouldn’t dare continue tormenting me.”

Xiao Die didn’t hold grudges, but Xu Wendong wasn’t of the same nature, he snorted coldly, ”You’re my person; how can I stand idly by when you’re bullied?”

Xiao Die felt a warm sensation rise in her heart.

Indeed, the young master cared for her. For the young master, she could do anything. However, now that he just returned, it’s not suitable to make a big move; steady development is better.

Yet Xu Wendong didn’t give Xiao Die a chance to persuade him, he directly took her hand and said, ”Let’s go, if Housekeeper Wang dared to hit you, I’ll cripple his hands! I’ll vent this anger for you now!”

With that, they immediately left the room.

...

In the Lin Family Manager’s Court, a fat, big-eared middle-aged man wearing a yellow housekeeper’s outfit lay on a chair, surrounded by several servants offering tea and water.

”Housekeeper Wang, have you taken down that maid named Xiao Die?”

”Yeah, if you get tired of her, do grant us a share to play with.”

”That woman’s figure and looks are truly rare; too bad she’s with that waste Lin Mo.”

”Hmph, if she weren’t with Young Master Lin Mo, would we have a chance to play with his maid?”

Those servants laughed nastily, and Housekeeper Wang, who was enjoying himself, frowned, causing them to immediately fall silent.

”That bitch Xiao Die, I’ve tried every trick, yet she still dares defy me, haven’t succeeded till now.” Housekeeper Wang sipped water, his little eyes twinkling as he said, ”But no worry; tomorrow, I’ll seize a chance to forcefully take her. I’ll let her know the real joy of being in harmony!”

”Then I’ll make her my informant, keeping track of Lin Mo’s every move. Won’t that be delightful?”

Housekeeper Wang sneered slyly, his words echoed by the servants around him, all applauding his cunning.

At that moment, the courtyard door was kicked open, wood chips flying, landing all over Housekeeper Wang’s face.

”Who the hell is it?!”
