Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Zizzz... Zizzz...

The radio intermittently transmitted the hopeful voice of the female anchor.

”...The Fusang Tree has been recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, it’s a legendary Divine Tree located on Ancient Kunlun Mountain. A couple with the surname Bai, who wish to remain anonymous, discovered this Divine Tree, and Mr. Zhong extracted the zombie virus antibody from it...”

”...The extracted zombie virus antibody can be made into the safest vaccine, expected to be mass-produced within a month. By then, we won’t need to fear turning into zombies if we’re scratched...”

The female anchor repeated the exhilarating message, but did not mention whether they could develop a vaccine that would turn zombies back into humans.

”...This is Phantom Safety Base, I am the Base Commander here. We’ve contacted the Alliance, and the developed vaccine will be rapidly distributed to various safety bases. Please protect yourselves and fight against zombies, strive to live well!”

”This is Feiyun Safety Base, and we welcome Superpower Users to claim tasks to eliminate zombies; this will be the place to restore peace the fastest.”

...

The other frequencies on the radio were all broadcasting the joyful news that the Human Survivor Alliance had extracted the zombie virus antibody.

Even the Zombie King’s Zombie Alliance did not deliver a fervent speech today; it was extraordinarily quiet.

Everything seems to be moving in a good direction.

But Bai Xiqin sensed the tense atmosphere.

”If the vaccine is developed, zombies remain zombies, and humans won’t fear the zombie virus. At that time, some people’s confidence might become overwhelmingly inflated, they...”

Bai Xiqin’s eyes flashed with worry.

She only thought about handing the Fusang Tree to the Alliance so humans wouldn’t fear the zombie virus but hadn’t considered a series of events that would follow.

”They will start to encircle zombies, burst into conflicts, and even attempt to eliminate all zombies.” Leng Yebai paused slightly before continuing, ”However, there are simply too many zombies, and countless High Rank Zombies. Even if not afraid of the zombie virus, victory is unlikely.”

This leads to self-destruction.

If a few more extreme individuals like Fang Jin appear—Earth might have to restart.

”Had I known this, I should have waited until a plant that could turn zombies into humans was discovered before handing over the Fusang Tree.”

Bai Xiqin felt a bit regretful.

She wasn’t biased towards zombies, but humans were genuinely not opponents of zombies.

If a decisive battle with zombies due to the vaccine development occurs, humans would suffer greater casualties.

”Since the Alliance chose disclosure, they should have anticipated what would happen later; regardless of whether the Fusang Tree is handed out, Captain Zhang has already fixed his gaze on the Fusang Tree, the outcome is the same.”

Leng Yebai saw Bai Xiqin’s furrowed brows and placed a piece of candy in her palm, taken from the table.

”Captain Zhang, being such an intelligent person, wouldn’t disclose vaccine information so quickly, someone else did it ahead of time.” Bai Zhengxuan commented.

Within the Alliance, Captain Zhang holds absolute power and authority.

However, Captain Zhang is solitary, whereas there are many strong individuals within the Alliance, including radicals like Fang Jin.

”Don’t worry about it; Captain Zhang can foresee the future, right? This should be within his expectations!” Bai Anhai said, quite at ease.

After all, the Bai Family has backing.

Whether zombies or humans, they both relate to his family!

”Indeed, Captain Zhang is truly extraordinary. Considering his various displays, this time he came specifically for the Fusang Tree and the Spiritual Spring Water in Xiao Niu’s space.”

The Base Commander nodded in agreement beside Leng Yebai.

Captain Zhang did not conceal his intentions, seemingly very familiar with the Bai Family.

Foreseeing the future, could it truly be that miraculous?

The Base Commander felt a shiver in his heart, feeling the urge to find Captain Zhang immediately to inquire about some future events.

He wanted to know what the future of humanity looked like.

Whether it was truly possible to bring the dead back to life...

The thought flashed by quickly, not lingering as the bus pulled to a stop.

”Sis, should we stop here?” Bai Yifan turned to Bai Xiqin.

If Captain Zhang mentioned meeting Zhang Yiming, then surely he would come.

Inform Zhang Yiming in advance, so everyone would be prepared.

To prevent a large-scale conflict.

”Yes, let’s get off here. You all head back to the safety base with the Base Commander first! The base might be quite restless lately.” Bai Xiqin advised.

The Yunhua Safety Base was alright since Zhang Yiming was nearby, preventing High Rank Zombies from acting freely.

Publicly announcing the vaccine’s near development indeed boosts morale, yet it also makes intelligent zombies impatient.

During this period, High Rank Zombies will crazily attack humans to expand their zombie troops.

If not expanded at this time, once everyone receives the vaccine, no one can become zombie minions anymore.

Of course, during this period, people also see hope for the future and will fight zombies more resiliently.

It’s not particularly bad, but not ideal.

”Be careful, both of you.”

The Base Commander knew their mission and clumsily reminded them.

Although aware that Zhang Yiming was their friend and the journey wouldn’t be hazardous, the Base Commander still felt uneasy.

He thought these two were still kids; it seemed premature for them to stand alone.

”Alright.”

Bai Xiqin responded with a smile, taking Leng Yebai’s hand as they got off the bus.

Leng Yebai glanced at the worried Base Commander, lips moved slightly, but his gaze fell on the Base Commander’s empty left arm.

Eventually, he said, ”Alright.”

Without observing the Commander’s wildly upward mouth corners, Leng Yebai got off the bus without looking back.

Bai Yifan stopped the bus at a location still some distance from Yunhua Safety Base, on the edge of Shanghai.

The zombies here were sparse; just as Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai alighted, angry zombie roars echoed around them.

”Roar――”

The zombies with decaying flesh were unreactive to the sudden cold weather; their limbs twisted severely, yet supported their bodies.

Whole bodies shook violently, almost falling apart.

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai wore thick down jackets, and their exhaled breath turned into white fog.

While zombies’ rotten mouths emitted no white fog.

Only bloodthirsty factors from their minds remained.

Brutal, bloodthirsty, manic...

”Forgot to ask where it’d be convenient to meet Xiao Ming.”

Bai Xiqin looked at zombies with faces full of decay, incapable of communicating with humans, feeling a headache.

She knew several places where Zhang Yiming resided but didn’t really know where Zhang Yiming was currently.

”No worries, if we can’t find him, we’ll dig out a few crystal cores, making a little profit is better than nothing.”

Leng Yebai’s fingertips emitted violet lightning, concentrated with abundant energy.

With just one thought, Leng Yebai could pierce through these little creatures’ heads.

As he was about to attack, the raging zombies suddenly halted.

Previously rampant zombies uniformly turned back and frantically fled in the direction they came from.

”Xiao Niu, may I ask, are you looking for my boss?”

A breeze blew by, before any shadow appeared, a warm voice was heard.

It’s Xiao Li, who possesses Wind Ability.
